I have watched several episodes of this show because I really wanted it to be good. I don't know if I was hoping it would get better or if I was just confused as to why Kat is such a terrible actress but is still cast in these kinds of shows. She's particularly awful in this one and sounds like she reading cue cards, it's painfully bad and how hasn't she taken some extra acting classes?
Tim Allen delivers of course and if he had a better screen partner I think this show could actually work. Sean William Scott is wasted in this series and is rarely on the screen at all. This dude deserves his own show and had he played the son who moved home with his kids, this show would be really good. He and Tim Allen would make a perfect father/son team but instead we have this disaster.
Daryl Mitchell is also under utilized and should have more dialog and screen time because given some good material he could deliver some much needed paraplegic presence. The potential for his backstory and character development is immense but instead he's tokenized into the background as a prop. He deserves better and I hope he finds himself in something more deserving.
While I don't want to drag the actor that plays the son, this is really not his best work. This kid has the opportunity to learn from Allen and Scott but instead is taking lessons from Kat Dennings which is not a good idea. I hope he finds his groove and takes notes from the guys that always deliver.
I don't see this show making it for more than a couple of seasons but if Tim is shopping for yet another series, I hope he finds one that fits him better and doesn't just take whatever he's offered because this one is a stinker.
Jenna Elfman showing up brings some potential as I love her but unless something amazing happens and quickly...I'm done holding on to hope and will just find something else to watch.
I also agree with the reviews that mention the laugh track, it's 2025 and if they haven't learned by now, it's time to LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE THAT YOU WANT TO WATCH YOUR SHOWS! We don't like, want or need a laugh track to know if something is funny. If someone isn't laughing it isn't because there is no laugh track, it's because your writers suck.

All of these negative reviews about dirty language and inappropriate behavior should have just not watched an R rated movie.
While this is not the best movie I have ever seen, it is far from the worst and it's being dragged by people that think the F word is jaw dropping offensive but they still made the choice to watch an R rated comedy. What did they think the R was for exactly?
It started strong but it fell off with some unnecessary and poorly pieced together storylines. I personally think they should have leaned in harder with the language and had they kept the dialogue filthy it would have been even better. Reese Witherspoon throwing side eye and using R rated level language is just a good fu@&ing time.
The younger cast are overshadowed by Witherspoon and Ferrell which kind of sucks but it was a choice. Geraldine Viswanathan is under utilized in this movie and is an absolute comedic beast and should be in more movies and shows. Keyla Monterroso Mejia Was is another example of potential being wasted because this actress and her ability to deadpan is straight up stellar. If these two actresses were cast as leads together, it would be hard to beat and I hope that someone that sees the magic and will make it happen.
Definitely not an Oscar contender but it is an absolutely adequate alternative from doom scrolling and the Muskification of current headlines.

This kind of exploitation of children should be illegal. These kids are forced to perform so the thirsty mother can profit financially as well as have her little spotlight.
This is a suspiciously engaging for ASD children as the 11 minutes of high speed never ending stimulation are almost hypnotic to spectrum children. This kind of aggressively targeted advertising should never been viewed by anyone ever.
This is propaganda level programming aimed at turning children into mindless consumers as young as they can. Save yourself and your children and block anything and everything from these people.
