it is a 9 instead of a 10 because of season 2....... First of all, this show really deserves entry to the smithsonian. It so realistically depicts what is going on in inner city america, especially obviously baltimore, add in detroit and maybe st. Louis.
Absolutely stunning achievement that it could get on the air.
The duo of avon and stringer, is beyond compare. Seasons 1 and 3 feature them, thus those are the two best seasons, giving the nod to season 3. Their downfall, especially stringer was shakespearean.
I have to say, season 2 was beyond disappointing. Not trying to start a conspiracy theory, but it was so far from where they should have been, i've always figured someone high up pressured them to 'whiten' teh show, specifically the 'bad guys'. So just skip season 2.
I was very disappointed wehn s4 started with no avon and stringer, but you know what, those kids grew on me. The growth they showed s4 to s5 was really great; not as good as seasons 1 and 3, but excellent. Had they kept avon and stringer all 5 years, it would have been a 12.
I would say it is requred viewing for anyone who wants to take part in a discussion of drugs/crime/ race relations/police corruption in America.
Make it the next thing you watch.
Every time I'm asked who my fave character was, I pick a dif one.
Bubs
bunk
so many, but Omar is just surreal. "Omar's coming!".
