Lots to discuss when it is over. And I loved the ending because it was so very poignant. I would have been disappointed if it had been a perfect happy ending. No fake happy endings in this kind of situation. This is the face of mental illness, and there is a human being there. If you still have questions after watching the movie, I suggest putting down your phone and watching it again. The number of commenters here who believe the movie had an unanswered unsatifactory ending obviously forgot to pay attention. It isn't a complicated story. Either that or they only like endings with everyone dead or moving on blissfully.
This is a moving story which examines an event which could be one thing, or simply scientifically speaking, another. A story about psychiatry, reincarnation, life and death, and peace with life. And death. Billy does an amazing job as a man in deep denial of his wife's death and life's twists of fate, but we learn there are deeper reasons why.
This miniseries captivated me and I binged it in 1 day. Well, not exactly. Like Christmas, I like to make myself wait for it. So I binged all but the last 2 episodes, and watched those the following night. It was a difficult wait.
Make some popcorn and enjoy.

Who is the converter, the missionaries or the man they hope to convert? Utter perfection to the end. Anyone who thinks there is a loose end needs to watch again. Even Hugh Grant's last scene is a perfect display of the nature of the human condition, it longs for forgiveness even as an unbeliever. The debate is circular and can continue forever. And a ride it is. Such a clever presentation. Expecially liked the "landlord's game" to "monopoly" example. Same thing happened with Cabbage Patch Kids.
