Stuntman
(2018)

You Never Truly Retire From Being A Stuntman
A behind the scenes look of Eddie Braun as he attempts to recreate a famous Evel Knievel stunt. Shows a lot of what gets done behind the screen but also shows the toll it takes to be a stuntman for Eddie and his family. Definitely have a lot of appreciation for the under appreciated life of one of the top stuntman in the industry!! Worth a watch for anyone who has an appreciation for action movies!

The Last Letter from Your Lover
(2021)

Such a Lovely Story
This is a nice movie with a great story, and although some things may be a bit lacklustre, it is still pretty enjoyable. Definitely better than the Netflix originals I have become used to. Shailene's accent is a bit off of throughout the whole movie, but if you can look past it, you'll really like it.

Jolt

Wasted Potential
Seemed like a decent concept, but misses the mark completely. Lack lustre special effects and a lot of over acting. Overall movies doesn't really make sense. The only good part of the movie is that you get to watch Kate Beckinsale for roughly an hour and a half. Surprised Stanley Tucci chose to be in this.

Iron Cowboy: The Story of the 50.50.50
(2018)

Could have dragged on a bit longer
It was a good story but could have easily been a mini series. You didn't get an opportunity to connect with the James Lawrence, or really feel his struggles that he had to overcome. Still was a good glimpse at it and sent me in the right direction to check out his book. Overall it was pretty good, but you just knew we was going to make it in the end. Can't believe how little they raised. I read a comment saying it was the hardest race in the world that nobody cared about. Kind of sums up why this is a hidden gem.

The Invitation
(2015)

I'm sorry, I don't know why people think this is good.
I was tricked into watching this from my roommate who had already seen this. Although I am very irritated with him for making me watch this, I'm equally irritated with all the reviews saying this is a 10 star film. Let's get real, it was a 1hr40 of a repetitive mess. It was extremely predictable and just over the top when it didn't need to be. It's just a massive build up for an average ending. If you want to save some time, just start this film in the last 30 minutes. That's why I was generous enough to give 3 stars as opposed to the 1 or 2 i would have given for the full hour before that mark. Apparently there were actors like Luke Wilson and Topher Grace that were linked to roles in this film. The fact that none of them went through with it should tell you how much of a disaster this was.

Kevin Hart: Zero F**ks Given
(2020)

Not His Best And Not His Worst
This is just a relaxed comedy special from his house. Had a few chuckles but was far more toned down than all his other stand ups. I felt as though I heard some of the jokes before with some of it slightly changed up. It was still entertaining overall and is worth a watch if you're a Kevin Hart fan.

Holidate
(2020)

Cute, with a good personality
Don't you just love cheesy rom coms? With everything going on right now, this is a great quarantine movie. A story about not being alone during the holidays and just needing someone to spend those days with to not have to go about it alone. I enjoyed how fun and cheesy and cute that this movie was. It's not going to win any awards, but it is a great start in the run of movies that will get you in the mood for the holidays.

The Broken Hearts Gallery
(2020)

Cute Movie, Grey Comedy
Solid Rom-com, a lot of quirky jokes and the chemistry is noticeable throughout the movie. Some of the humour is darker but funny and enjoyable. You'll leave the movie with a bin of a grin and an empty back of popcorn. Overall more of a comedy, there are only a few sadder moments.

Love, Guaranteed
(2020)

Misses the mark
This movie is overly predictable, you'll see the ending coming from a mile away. I thought it was a decent concept before watching it, but was left wanting a lot more from it. The characters in the movie are either far too over the top or borderline unrealistic. I guess we will have to ignore the fact that he goes on 1000 dates in over 2 years and a half. Breakfast, lunch and Dinner. Even 3 years after a break up would be extremely ambitious/unrealistic and not to mention insane. Not a movie you can watch more than once, but it still is watchable.

The One and Only Ivan
(2020)

Good, not great!!
It was a good movie, I did not feel any of the Disney magic. Fell flat sometimes and I never felt engaged in the movie. Overall it was a good movie, but was not memorable or worth a rewatch in the future.

Anelka: Misunderstood
(2020)

Great Insight From A Football Great!!
A great behind the scenes story of a truly misunderstood footballer. His talents were never fully appreciated, including by myself. I forgot how great he acually was and this film did a great job reminding me of it. Misunderstood shows Anelka's journey through numerous clubs and how he lives up to the title of being misunderstood by being perceived as being selfish and arrogant where that wasn't really the case. A great watch for any football lover!!

The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story
(2019)

Good but not Great!!
No one can replace Freddie and it's a good thing that queen never tried to. It's two great stories in itself merged into one. You could easily have a film of life after Freddie as well as a story of just Adam Lambert. To see a lot of behind the scenes information was pretty wonderful to see. There's a lot that you will find out from Adam Lambert and queen. A lot of this can be said to be influenced by success of the movie Bohemian Rhapsody and you can tell that this piggy backs on that success. Good overall but it felt like it dragged on a bit more in one area when there was so much more that it could have covered.

Da 5 Bloods
(2020)

Terrible in every way!!
I am going to save you 2 and a half hours by saying it's not worth it. Time is something you can never get back. Just watch Three Kings instead. The poor music choices at the wrong times make it impossible to take this movie seriously. It seems as though this was a very low budget movie considering their pathetic flashback sequences where the cast looks the exact same 50 years later. They still even have grey hairs in their beards. None of this movie really flows and its impossible to not feel as though i wasted a couple hours that I now can't get back. I personally feel as though I could have written a better script than this.

Burn
(2019)

Awkward and Cringeworthy, but in a good way!!
Tilda Cobham-Hervey plays the awkward role flawlessly. There isn't a moment throughout this movie that she doesn't deliver. Two gas station employees have their night interrupted by a robbery that does not go as planned. Josh Hutcherson is no match for these two and will come to regret turning down Melinda's offer.

Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones
(2019)

Hilarious as ever!!!
Only than his early work in stand up, I'd have to say this is the best one to date. I was laughing out loud constantly and he doesn't shy away from making fun of everyone. Great show, I'll probably watch this a couple more times to be perfectly honest.

The Red Sea Diving Resort
(2019)

Netflix getting it right!!
Very entertaining, great story, great cast and great acting. I was happy to see a mixture between bigger actors and some lesser known actor assembled and delivered with a great movie. It's a fantastic story and I'm glad that they told this story as opposed to remaking a movie or repeating the same events over and over again. Chris Evans is proving to be a stud and has come a long way from "Not anothe teen movie" and typical rom coms.

Poms
(2019)

Seemed like fun!!!
This movie seemed like a fun movie to make. With an older cast, It draws comparison to Calendar girls. I wouldn't say this is an amazing movie but it's not a bad way to spend a Monday night. You can tell that Netflix will continue to build around their young actor core. Charlie Tahan (Ozark) is in it as well as Alisha Boe (13 reasons why) and it will be interesting to see where they end up branching out from dramas to comedies and so on.

The Lion King
(2019)

Slimy, yet satisfying, with none of the Disney magic!!
Visually this movie is phenomenal and realistic, it felt like you were watching and experiencing a true live action remake which felt like you were watching an episode of LIFE. Unfortunately what it made up for in visuals, lacked it almost every other way. There are key moments from the original that I felt spoke to me the most were omitted from this remake. It felt as though the actors were just saying their lines and didn't show the emotion or soul that viewers were owed. For the most part there weren't anyone that stuck out. James Earl Jones has always been the standout with his voice still being as powerful. I think casting was a bit of an issue. I think Donald Glover would have been more suited for young Simba and probably would have killed it. Timone ane Pumba started to grow on me the more the movie went on, but there's no replacing Nathan Lane. John Oliver came across as annoying sometimes as Zazu. I didn't feel the soul in Rafiki for most of his part. The beginning was a tad disappointing, I couldn't wait for young Simba to grow up, middle was very good and the ending was just okay. And the songs just didn't really do it for me. Spirit wasn't really put in the right part of the movie. The songs that weren't sung by the actors still held true to the original and Hans Zimmer did his thing.

In my honest opinion if this was a shot for shot remake of the original it would have been a slam dunk but it get more like a cash grab. I think it was better than Aladdin, but maybe if they took Mulan's approach it could have been a different movie entirely.

Visuals: 10/10 Special effects:10/10 Music:7/10 Story: 6/10 Acting: 4/10 Magic: 2/10

Goalie
(2019)

Not always sunshine and rainbows!!
An in depth look at the life of Terry Sawchuk in and around his world in hockey. Refreshing to see a rag to riches without it all being sunshine and rainbows. A lot of struggles and constant obstacles to overcome. I was impressed by this being a made for TV movie since it's better than a lot of movies that I've seen in theatres. Worth a watch if you are or ever were a hockey fan.

Ice on Fire
(2019)

The wake up call that's needed!!
A direct look on how the rise of Carbon in the atmosphere is directly affecting climate change. Narrated by Leonardo Dicaprio, and explained by expects from across the world, this documentary goes in depth to describe how this is affecting the world we are living in, how it contributes to more severe natural disaster and is leading towards mass extinctions in our future. A sequel to Leo's "Before the Flood", Which is just as eye opening, it's worth a watch to be able to see how far we've come and what we have to do to save the planet before it's too late. A must watch!!!

Chasing Happiness
(2019)

Don't Call It A Comeback!!
A behind the scenes look at the rise and fall of the Jonas Brothers to build up their comback tour. You get to see the struggle for their claim to fame and how it seemingly happened overnight. One of the first bands to utilize the social media platform and soar to incredible heights. It was a well done documentary to show how the brothers came full circle to reunite.

Rim of the World
(2019)

Not as bad as I thought but a good start.
Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be as far as Netflix movies, it's still a bit corny and cheesy. Its a promising start for these young actors. It will be interesting to see where they end up. Overall the movie is okay, cinematography was a bit off but it was nice to see the development of the characters.

Booksmart
(2019)

Hilarious, I was pleasantly surprised.
This is pretty much a girl version of Superbad, but it's own movie entirely. Funny enough it features Jonah Hill's younger sister and this looks like it could be her breakout role. I can honestly say that I wasn't expecting to laugh so hard at parts of this movie, but it was a great start for director Olivia Wilde. The casting was fantastic, and the absolute randomness of this movie was cringeworthy and entertaining. Definitely should give this a watch.

Wine Country
(2019)

Forced Female Grown Ups movie
Half the cast of Bridesmaids, but a Netflix knock off. Pretty much like a grown ups version but with women, minus the kids. Much like modern Adam Sandler comedies, this leaves a lot to be desired. This movie just tries too hard and it's really hard to relate to any of the characters. There are some good moments but it's a tough watch overall.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu
(2019)

Fantastic, original and one of a kind!!
I left the theatre happy and pleasantly surprised. I thought the movie was very original and comedic. The graphics were great and I loved how the Pokémon looked. At time I felt like I was reliving a childish fantasy. Ryan Reynolds is just amazing, he was a fantastic choice and I can't picture watching this without him as Pikachu. This has been my favourite movie so far this year.
