1899
(2022)

Ending was good, but not unexpected
Overall, I liked the series very much. However, there were also weak points.

What was good: Lots of movie quotes from movies like Aliens (kid in sideboard, waking up scene) Matrix (2 shots, two pills) and Titanic (lots).

The name Prometheus, who brought fire to humans but was trapped in a time loop Kerberos, Cerberus, the dog that guards the dead In 1899 Freud published his book Interpretation of Dreams

What was bad Many actors had permanently dirty faces even though they were on a ship, perhaps this was also meant to indicate the dream; The mate had large non-healing wounds on his face every day Many stories and scenes led nowhere, were just facades Titanic had three schooners and a dummy, that would have been good here too The spaceship was bad CGI, but it was important and only a short scene.

The resolution was good, but you had the idea for a while that it was going in that direction. Some things were repeated from Dark, like the tunnels or the father, who strongly reminds of Jonas from Dark. Still a lot of potential for season 2, but no material for more than a miniseries. From my point of view too close to Dark, the rest came from Matrix. I would have liked something completely new. The writers don't seem to know more than one story.

I See You
(2019)

Yone twist too much
The showrunners had two good stories, but instead of making two decent films, they used both together. Many movies have not even one good story. This is a bit sad since the mix of both stories is just too much. The acting is okay, but not more. Both lead actors look both 10 years too old. Not one of them is likeable. The filming location is great though. The filming is quite good. It is not quite clear whether it is a horror shocker, splasher movie, thriller or mystery thriller. There is a lot of. Foreboding which I liked. Hence as I said before it is a bit too much of everything which is diminishing the success of the movie.

Retfærdighedens ryttere
(2020)

Big surprise, and not a good one
The movie is neither funny nor exciting. There is one twist, which is not bad, but not enough to save the film. The characters are too absurd for my taste and some of the scenes are unbearable. In contrast, the bad guys and the role of the soldier are woodenly weakly drawn and cliché-laden.

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window
(2022)

Best thriller in a long time
I think the thriller is great. The twists at the end were incredibly surprising. Worthy of Hitchcock in my view. It also had funny moments. Good actors. A hidden gem. Probably more paced as a movie. Great fight scene!

Last Night in Soho
(2021)

Great show with little flaws
The set was overwhelming. The story was not bad, but the plot was not good. Especially the ending was weak. But that's not surprising, because the more complexity you build in at the beginning, the harder the ending becomes, see Game of Thrones. It's not a Hitchcock. I liked the two main actresses, especially McKennzie and the male art student. I also liked that the 1960s were also portrayed as problematic. However, for my taste, the darker sides were exaggerated. The horror elements were weak. Despite all this, a film worth seeing with many highlights.

The Last Duel
(2021)

Better read the story on W...
I love the cast with Ben Afflek, Matt Damon and the young beautiful lead actress and Ridley Scott. I will sent him a cast of champagne for first non diverse cast for decades.

Like in the Kingdom of Heavan it is a film with a good quality and stunning costumes. Battle scenes were also good Ridley Scott style.

The story however is kind of boring and not new. After 40 minutes you know the full movie. The ending is predictable.

Aranyak

Great mix of Murder Mystery and Thriller
I have seen some Indian crime documentary productions recently. They were really good. This is now the first fiction series. I think they have done a good job. It is a good mix of whodunnit, mystery and serial killer thriller. There are some surprising twists at the end and a good cliffhanger. Only the female lead comes across as very unlikeable and was probably installed by Netflix. The Uttar Pradesh setting was also less than spectacular for India. More could have been taken out of it.

No Time to Die
(2021)

A Bond film that is no Bond
I have seen all the Bond films several times. It's not the worst Bond movie, but one of the weakest Bond movies so far. In my opinion it is not a Bond film at all. Bond lives on repetition and variation. There are some quotes, especially on - On Her Majesty's Secret Service from 1968 - but they are too conspicuously azsfallen, especially in music and cars.

The pretitle sequence is the worst I've ever seen. It reminded me of Bourne, but not Bond.

The title sequence was also weak.

If it were the first Bond movie or the first action movie I ever saw, I might like it. As it is, however, I've seen it all before or seen it better.

It is a film without any highlights.

The best scene takes place in Cuba thanks to Ana de Armas, but quickly drifts into slapstick and satire.

Bond can't survive if you turn everything upside down and against the grain.

Dune
(2021)

Bombastic set design / Bedt Sci Fi comeback
I've read the book and seen the Lynch movie. I know the story well, yet the movie surprised me in a positive way. The writing and directing are very good. I especially liked the cast: Duke Atreides, Paul's mother, Baron Harkonnen, Duncan Idaho are excellently cast. Fascinating are the great monumental images of the armies, the spaceships and the architecture. The music by Hans Zimmer is a real treat. The equipment and set design are bombastic.

Dexter: New Blood
(2021)

Positive Surprise
Long wait, no see. I was exited. No disappointment so far. Dexter New Blood is even a little more spohisticated with better acting overall. Worth to watch. Outstanding in the current series environment.

Dig Deeper - Das Verschwinden von Birgit Meier
(2021)

Too long, missing momentum and suspense
It is a well known case in Germany, belonging to the so called Goehrde murders. There was a German TV which was much better than the docu covering the other murders as well. Netflix docus are too long in general, which is killing the suspense.

The Courier
(2020)

Again fooled by high ratings
Probably one of the most boring films I have ever seen. The story is weak, no suspense at all. The acting is mediocre. I don't understand how the movie can get such high eatings of 7 and more.

Army of Thieves
(2021)

Horrible show, not funny
I am German. Schweighöfer is a kind of local comedy star here. It's embarrassing. The character and story is so bad that a five year old would have done better. The set and acting is also a disaster. For me it was over after 20 minutes of agony.

Delhi Crime
(2019)

Great show with woke moments
The show is great. It is the third good crime show from India, after India Fetectives and House of Secrets. India us coming. Very good. India is very well staged. Unfortunately, the usual wokeness, where women are good, strong and capable. Hard to believe that it is like that in India. The life of the ibfian policemen is very well portrayed. Also upper class, lower class class differences. I was especially touched by this brokenness of the investigators, on the one hand being in the service of a great power, with all the mscht of a nation of billions, and then again being on the level of a developing country. Also exciting, how there is a completely different corporality in India with beatings ubd arresting without handcuffs, leading away over hand holding. Exciting.

Raat Akeli Hai
(2020)

Good start, ends as Bollywood Kitsch
Promising start as a Who done it-mystery but soon changes into a Bollywood tearjerker of the worst kind. I couldn't watch it until the end. Acting is ok, but the story is mediocre.

¿Dónde está Marta?
(2021)

The case is the star
The docu offers nothing new or special. The case of the missing girl is stunning though. Could have been a great docu but lacks theories and structure. Who did it?

Den osannolika mördaren
(2021)

Nothing new in the North
Nothing new. Boring. Same old Old White man, CIA etc pp. A lot of kitchen psychology. Like with all Jack the Ripper docus, at the end nobody is any wiser.

Tehran
(2020)

Slow start, slow middle, sliw ending
The first scene is bad already. If the first scene doesn't captivate you, the rest won't either.

Chicago Fire
(2012)

Great series for a long weekend at home
I like it a lot. Good likeable characters with flaws. Good old school action series.

See
(2019)

The battle scenes are worth it
The fight scene season 1 episode 1 was one of the best battle scenes I have ever seen. The battle scenes with Jason Mormoa are the clear highlights. I read that they trained with paralympics martial arts participants. The rest was a little bit dull and very woke. Hence there is a cool twist in the ending of season one. In season one the high budget spending is not visible. In season 2 the story evolves, gets more depth and the high budget shows for the first time. Season 2 is promising. Without the change to new more sympathetic protagonists and a wider playing field I would have quit.

Pereval Dyatlova
(2020)

One of the biggest Russian Mysteries finally solved?
The first 7 episodes are some of the best I've seen in series. Very good camera and sound. Acting rather mediocre. Due review of the second Wektkrieg I found unnecessary. The eighth episode was unfortunately the weakest. The explanation of the accident is based on the latest scientific findings. However, some things can not be explained with it.

Hit and Run
(2021)

Unreal spy story from Israel
I liked FAUDA season 1. I like Lior Raz. Unfortunatelly he can just play himself. There si many plot holes, a C 17 Globemaster can fly through. First the hit and run accident. Nobody can walk on a street backwards in a city. This is stupid. The husband is a tour guide with one Labd Rover snd lives in a villa on a hill top. The forrest he lives in, 2.5 hours from Tel Aviv where he works. The story is just a joke. I stoped watching after two episodes.

Disparu à jamais
(2021)

It got my Attention, but I developed no interest
I admit I had to quit in episode 1. Characters are not likeable and the story are just not interesting enough. The acting is bad in general.

Chicago Fire
(2012)

Great series for a long weekend at home
I like it a lot. Good likeable characters with flaws. Good old school action series.

Blood Red Sky
(2021)

Mom fights for her son with everything she has
The first 60 minutes were excellent. Then it slowed down a bit. The end was ok and leaves room for a second film. Peri Baumeister is an actress who is quite unknown in Germany. We have much better actresses and better looking actresses in Germany. She is only known through her Netflix appearances.
