Desperados
(2020)

Far, far, FAR too long
It starts super quick. Establishes all the characters and their relationships within the first 15 and then the film gets going. But then it just drags you realise where the film is going to go about an hour or so from it ending. It also didn't help that the lead had no charisma and had no chemistry with her best friends. It really shows when the two friends go off on their own and they have a lot of chemistry. Also the film isn't funny enough there really isn't many jokes, aside from a few clever visual gags. Including a really clever passing of time display involving birth control pill being taken. The romance wasn't strong enough either to really be invested in. With either romantic interest. It was really just far too long, not interesting enough and a real waste of time.

Lewis Capaldi: Someone You Loved (Version 1)
(2019)

Balls
One of the most horrendously overplayed songs of the last decade. Full of underwritten lines inspiring cringe and agony towards the ear. Why does he keep shouting the lines, this isn't good singing. Plus being forced to hear it in every store, fast food place and pub over the past year has killed any value this song once convinced people it had.

What Men Want
(2019)

Equality
True equality can be seen here. This film is equally good and equally bad. I never laughed so much as I would smile in acknowledgement of the joke. But really, take away the fact that it's a black female in a lead role and there's nothing particularly significant about this movie. Bog standard, you know? I think thats good, the black community and women now have the same opportunities as men... to star in mediocre forgettable pap. It did a better job of gender politics than ghostbusters (2016) albeit very ham fisted with it.

The Great Dictator
(1940)

Classic. Quite possibly the best comedy ever put to film.
This movie is a testament to the genius of Chaplin. Its sharp witty dialogue, its clever use of slapstick, its believable characters and its brilliant message have managed to stand for decades. The fact this movie continues to shine even to this day proves its worth. The great dictator is not just held up by its comedy though, it is also held up by the fantastic performances by all of the actors involved. Chaplin knew what he wanted and it translated perfectly on the screen. The great dictator isn't as widely remembered as some of Chaplin's other works, but it deserves to be. While other movies of its era, such as citizen Kane, also remain master-pieces in their own rights. None effect the audience quite like the great dictator.
