Saagar
(1985)

Repeat
A often repeated story overdone. Great music but picturing them is average. Dimple is over acting. Rishi is as usual. Kama Hasan is wasted. The movie did not do well and Ramesh Sippy removed ED Burman from his next venture. This was his last talked about movie what he did later is unknown.

Pyaar Zindagi Hai
(2001)

Good movie
This movie is produced by K C Bokadia and Directed by Vijay Sadanah has Rajesh Khanna the SuperStar playing a character but a leading role. He is playing father of two daughters and is tormented by Mohnish Bahl. He loses one of his daughters but manages to save the other from the evil desires of Mohnish Bahl. Rajesh Khanna has played his part reasonably well but looks old in the movie. The super Star should have taken more footage, but the climax belongs to him. See the movie, it is good- the weakness is the music of the movie- it is uninspiring and not of Rajesh Khanna's class. The production values are just okay. The young girls do their parts well.

Duniya
(1984)

Execellent
The great Dilip Kumar used to act in a number of movies in the 1980s and these movies had him as the central character. This character overshadowed all other characters and stood tall, larger than life. The audience used to lap it up with applause and cheers. Duniya released in 1984 is one such movie, which has Dilip Kumar taking on Pran, Prem Chopra and Amrish Puri for spoiling his life. He is ably supported by Saira Banu and Rishi Kapoor. The movie has excellent music by R D Burman and is a must watch. The movie might not have done as well as it should have but is a must watch. One must see the movie to realize what a great actor Dilip kumar is.

Karm
(1977)

Good movie
KARM was an average Hit in 1977 during the era of multi starrer and action movies. If the movie was made slightly earlier, it would have seen a bigger success. This movie made by the movie Mogul BR Chopra has Rajesh Khanna playing the role of a man torn between two women. The female leads are played by Vidya Sinha and Shabana Azmi, who do their roles well but the movie centers around Rajesh Khanna and the effect predictions can have. Ultimately predictions are proved wrong and prayer and Karm rule. A good movie made with good intentions and very well presented. The weak link is average music by R D Burman or may be the director did not create situations for a nice song. The lyrics are heavily loaded, however a charming and a good clean movie of the SuperStar.

Amar Prem
(1972)

A life time effort
This movie is a re make of an old Bengali classic starring Uttam Kumar. The role of Uttam Kumar has been played by Rajesh Khanna in this Shakti Samanta movie. However, the performance of Super Star Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore and the music of Rahul Dev Burman are a life a time effort and they have created magic in this movie. Other characters also do their part well- Omprakash, Leela Mishra,Sujit Kumar, Vinod Mehra and others have done their part well. The movie will be remembered for its 6 nos- 3 by Kishore Kumar, 2 by Lata and 1 by S D Burman. The story is a classic and the movie deserves more than what share it has got in last 38 years and is a timeless classic and is life time effort of all the cast and crew. Dialogue of the movie "Pushpa I hate tears' is immortal. A must see to see how the magic of Rajesh Khanna, Kishore Kumar and Rahul Dev Burman worked in the early 1970s to be later spoiled by Amitabh Bachchan and his trend of action movies. It is true people forget good things like Amar Prem and remember all the bad things. A must see and a tear jerker.

Vijay
(1988)

The last of Yash Chopra and Rajesh Khanna
Yash Chopra who became famous because Rajesh Khanna the SuperStar acted in his two movies-Itefaq and Daag subsequently switched loyalties and made movies with Amitabh and others directed this movie which could not do well as the focus of the movie was wrong and he chose a wrong actor for the central character and did not develop the characters well. The story of the movie is more meant for a TV serial or soap opera rather than a movie. The characters in the movie could have been made more stronger by deleting some songs. Rajesh Khanna puts in the best performance among other characters. The movie lacks the Yash Chopra touch. The music is just average.

Durgaa
(1985)

Special appearance with a difference
Rajesh Khanna has a special role in this revenge vendetta where in he appears in the second half of the movie and then there is no looking back and the movie comes to life due to the acting of the great super star actor. Rajesh Khanna puts life in to this otherwise a mundane run of the mill revenge drama which deals with the harassment of women. Hema Malini plays the central character with her usual style and does not give the movie much life as the script is run of the mill. Raj Babbar and PRan are there too. But life and interest in the movie comes in the last hour when Rajesh Khanna takes over and then performs in this Shibu Mitra movie which has only Rajesh Khanna as a reason to watch the movie.

Aradhana
(1969)

Entry of the Super star
Aradhana introduces to Indian cinema a great talent Rajesh Khanna. Though this was not his first movie, but this movie brought him acclaim, recognition and Super Star status. The movie has him in a double role where he succeeds in showing different characters. Sharmila Tagore shines in the movie and acts well. The music of Sachin Dev Burman is immortal and all songs were super hit. Kishore Kumar's voice fits Rajesh Khanna's screen image as if either Rajesh Khanna is singing the songs or if Kishore Kumar has become Rajesh Khanna. One voice Two souls. The movie's story is very touchy and is a tear jerker. However, Rajesh Khanna steals the show with good performances by Ashok Kumar, Asit Sen, Sujit Kumar, Pahari Sanyal, Farida Jalal among others. This Shakti Samanta movie is a must see.

Andaz
(1971)

Special but star attraction
In this Sippy super hit movie Rajesh Khanna makes a special appearance for 30 minutes but steals the thunder with his powerful portrayal of his character and sings the immortal song Zindagi ek safar hai suhana. The movie has powerful performances by Shammi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Ajit apart from Rajesh Khanna. The kids have done their part well. The music by Shanker Jaikishan is very melodious and the song of Kishore Kumar was a rage and has become immortal. It is a must see. However, this is one of the last movies of Shammi Kapoor as a leading actor and he looks old in the movie. We wish that he continued as a leading actor for more years. Hema Malini was the No 1 heroine then and does justice to her role but the show belongs to Rajesh Khanna who shows his class as an actor in the movie.

Main Tera Dushman
(1989)

Special Appearance
A good movie primarily meant for kids. The movie revolves around a baby elephant which gets separated from its family. The elephant also helps the hero, Jackie Shroff to bring criminals to task. During its course of finding out its lost family the elephant bumps into Rajesh Khanna who is playing the role of a truck driver with his assistant Jagdeep. Rajesh Khanna helps the elephant in reaching Mumbai and feeds the elephant too. The song from Hathi Mere Sathi plays in the background reminding the teenagers and parents of 1988 that the first elephant or animal hit ever made was Hathi Mere Sathi which starred the Super Star himself in the 1970s. A good entertaining movie which kids will enjoy. It has a no of special appearances to make the movie interesting but Rajesh is fabulous in his 5 minute appearance.

Aa Ab Laut Chalen
(1999)

Return of Rajesh Khanna
Rishi Kapoor's directorial debut brings for the first time on RK films banner Super Star Rajesh Khanna. This movie was released after a five year exile by Rajesh Khanna. He appears in the movie as a character actor who shoulders the second half and climax of the movie. The movie has Vinod Khanna's son as the lead hero who is playing Rajesh Khanna's son who like his father Rajesh ( Balraj) runs away from his motherland to make money. He makes emotional blunders, cannot mix with the culture abroad, gets cultural shock and then mends his ways. He then meets his estranged father. The father and son then return to their home land. A good clean movie by Rishi Kapoor which should have done better if the editing could have been made crisp and some songs deleted to put in some action sequence which would have catered to the masses. Over all a good movie, good music, good location, good acting and over all a performance which cannot go unnoticed Rajesh Khanna, who plays his role as if he had never gone away. Let us hope we see him more often.

Aavishkar
(1974)

A class art movie
This movie belongs to actor Rajesh Khanna who won the best actor award for the movie. He is in every angle of the movie and performs with ease the character of an office going husband who still cares for his wife but they do not have time for each other. The character of Amar has been essayed by Rajesh Khanna without any Super Star mannerisms and shows all shades of the character as a great actor would do. We wish he also did such movies in those days with great directors like Basu Bhattacharyya in this movie, Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal who would have added another dimension to his career. Coming to the movie Sharmila puts is a equally powerful portrayal as Mansi. The movie has touching moments and has great music by Kanu Roy. It is a must see for any couple and must see for Rajesh Khanna fans and critics. I do not think any star of those days could have done this role save Sanjeev Kumar.

Babu
(1985)

An emotional drama
Babu released in 1984 was an emotional tear jerker which was a remake of a Shivaji Ganeshan super hit. Babu revolves around the central character Babu played by Super Star Rajesh Khanna. Babu is a rickshaw puller in Calcutta who starts to care for a family which had fed him once and are now facing financial problem. Bauu sacrifices his youth and his life for the sake of the family. The movie has excellent performance by Rajesh Khanna who has acted in his usual style steals the show in an era when there were violent, multi starer movies which were a major hit. He is ably supported by Hema Malini, Navin Nishchol, Mala Sinha, Rati Agnihotri,Madan Puri and Roopesh Kumar. The music by Rajesh Rohan is melodious and I would recommend this movie to all people who like to see family dramas. It is a must for Rajesh Khanna's fans as he acts in his usual style and steals the show and makes the audience wet their handkerchief.

Shatru
(1986)

Rajesh in a bengali movie remake
Shatru is a movie which is a remake of a hit Bengali movie with the same name. This Bengali movie was made in 1984. Shatru made in 1986 was made in Hindi and Bengali. The movie revolves around an honest Police Officer who is trying to bring the culprits in a village to task. He faces a lot of resistance and ultimately brings the culprits to the book. Super Star Rajesh Khanna is without a heroine and does not sing songs in the movie and puts up a stellar performance which should have got him an award. But awards always are not given to genuine performers. This is the first time Pramod Chakraborty directs Rajesh Khanna. The movie was an average success. Strangely the great R D Burman has given a very average music in the movie. It is a must see for all movie watchers.

Kati Patang
(1970)

A classic hit
Kati Patang a movie from Shakti Samanta's stable was released when Super Star Rajesh Khanna was at his peak and was churning hits after hits and it appeared that there is going to be no end to his giving hits. This movie written by Gulshan Nanda had excellent music by R D Burman and had top of the charts songs sung by Kishore Kumar - ' Ye jo Mohabbat hai"," Yeh Shaam Mastani" etc. The holi song " Aaj na chodenge" has become a part of the culture of India. These songs are remembered even today. The movie revolved around Super Star Rajesh Khanna's character who is in love with a forced widow Asha Parekh, whom he was supposed to marry but she had run away due to the fact that she was misguided by the playboy and bad man Prem Chopra. The movie revolves around these character until the hero and heroine unite. It is a classic hit and is a must see for viewers as a movie as this movie is evergreen and easily available.

Haathi Mere Saathi
(1971)

A Super Hit
This movie is one the biggest hits of Super Star Rajesh Khanna and is a movie which made him popular with kids who grew up seeing his future movies. This movie is about the relationship/bondage between man and animal. Elephants play an equally important role with Rajesh Khanna in the movie and the movie revolves around them. Tanuja playing the heroine also contributes. The movie has excellent music by Laxmikant Pyarelal who have composed some great hits for this movie sung by Kishore Kumar. One song of Mohammad Rafi is a class. The movie is a must see for movie watchers of all ages and especially the kids will enjoy this classic.

Prem Kahani
(1975)

A love triangle
Super Star Rajesh Khanna is in love with Mumtaaz and they go around singing great songs composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. However, due to family compulsions Rajesh Khanna joins the freedom fighters and is on the run. Mumtaaz gets married to Shashi Kapoor, an old friend of Rajesh Khanna and whilst on the run, Rajesh takes refuge in the house of Shashi Kapoor to find his old love there. Confusions come in the lives of these three and ultimately Rajesh Khanna gets killed by Mumtaaz. Great movie with very good music. The movie has excellent and great performance by Rajesh Khanna and he is ably supported by Shashi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna( in a small but dynamic role) and Mumtaaz. The songs of the movie are even hit today. A must see.

Aap Ki Kasam
(1974)

A great movie with greater music
Aap Ki Kasam has Super Star Rajesh Khanna playing a role of a man who falls in love with Mumtaaz. He marries her and then starts suspecting that she is having an affair with his friend Sanjeev Kumar. In the process he ruins his married life. Ranjeet then makes him realise that he was the reason for Rajesh Khanna to suspect his wife. Ranjeet was having an affair and used to go through Rajesh's house. Rajesh repents but it is too late. He then makes good his life by sacrificing it trying to save his daughter. An excellent movie which is a must see for all husband and wives. Rajesh Khanna excels in his performance as a suspecting husband and captures all sympathies. He is ably supported by Mumtaaz, late Sanjeev Kumar, Rehman and Ranjeet. The music by R D Burman was a great hit and all the songs are still remembered today like "Jai Jai Shivshankar", "Karwatein badalten rahen", "Zindagi ke safar mein" etc.. A great movie of 1970s and a must see.

Bewafai
(1985)

Action vs Romance
Bewafai - this Devar film brings together the action king of the Tamil cinema Rajnikant and the SuperStar and the most romantic hero ever Rajesh Khanna together for the first time. The movie has three leading ladies but they have nothing much to offer as the movie revolves around the two - SuperStar and Romance/Emotion King-Rajesh Khanna and the Action Hero Rajnikant. The character of Rajniknat has negative shades but he performs in his usual style. The negative and lose link in the movie is the music of Bappi Lahiri who has given uninspiring music in this movie and this is evident. This movie is available on DVDs and is a must watch for the fans of Rajnikant and Rajesh Khanna.

Nazrana
(1987)

A family drama
Nazrana is a female oriented movie - Super Star Rajesh Khanna is cast opposite Sridevi and Smita Patil. This 1987 movie has a good story line, good direction, good performances from the leading ladies and they are well supported by the Super Star Rajesh Khanna. The movie is about Rajesh Khanna, his wife Smita Patil and Sridevi. Sridevi, the then ruling actress has a very powerful role. But the plot centers around the Superstar Rajesh Khanna. The movie has very good music by Laxmikant Pyarelal and all songs are very melodious. This movie is a must see for all fans of Rajesh Khanna, Sridevi and Smita Patil. This is one of the last movies of Rajesh Khanna as the romantic hero and is a must see for his fans. He does full justice to his character and performs emotional and romantic scenes very well- reminding viewers that he indeed was the biggest Super Star of Hindi movies.

Goraa
(1987)

A movie which took years in making
This movie shows in its credits that Super Star Rajesh Khanna is in a special appearance. But the fact remains that he is actually playing the lead role in the movie in the garb of a special appearance. The movie it appears took years in making and was released only in 1987. It is a movie based on robbers and is a revenge drama. The movie has story line which used to be narrated in the 1970s and the plot has nothing new to offer apart from police and robbers chasing each other. The music is a very big let down and there is not a single song worth noting. The direction is patchy and editing is very poor. One may see the movie for the sake of Rajesh Khanna the Super Star only as it has nothing else to offer.

Dil-E-Nadaan
(1982)

A romantic melodrama
This romantic melodrama has Super Star Rajesh Khanna with Shot gun Shatrughan Sinha raving and ranting in the movie. It also stars Smita Patil and Jayaprada. This movie has excellent music by Khayyam with songs sung by Kishore Kumar. The movie is a melodrama about two friends loving the same woman and sacrificing each others love for the sake of the other. Thrown in between is another lady who loves one of the friends. This movie has a no of romantic scenes between the SuperStar and Jayaprada. It has dramatic scenes with high pitched dialogs between Rajesh Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha. The concern is the speed of the movie. The movie is snail paced and needed crisp editing and some songs could have been avoided to make the movie more entertaining and crisp. It is a must watch for Rajesh Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha fans, they will enjoy the dramatic scenes between the silent romantic Super Star and the loud, boisterous Shot Gun Sinha.

Woh Phir Aayegi
(1988)

A horror movie
Super Star Rajesh Khanna has done only one Horror movie which is Woh Phir Aayegi released in 1988. The movie was directed by B R Ishara. The movie is about how MoonMoon Sen's spirit possesses Farhah who is the girlfriend of Rajesh Khanna. The movie then revolves on how SuperStar Rajesh Khanna goes around to get rid of the ghost and the troubles he takes to cure Farah of the spirit. The movie has above average music and some good dance numbers of Javed Jaffrey. Though Rajesh Khanna has done his role well, but the looks a little jaded and tired in the movie. It is a good entertainer whose production values could have been better.

Chalta Purza
(1977)

good entertainer
Chalta Purza, a Bhappi Sonie movie is an overall entertainer with good music by R D Burman. The movie stars SuperStar Rajesh Khanna with Rakesh Roshan,Parween Babi and Ajit. The movie is all about crime and action but keeps the viewer engrossed for the time it runs. This movie is a good time pass and is recommended for viewing. Rajesh Khanna has for a change an action oriented role which he does well with a flair and looks great in the action scenes. R D Burman's music is good and catchy. This movie is simple but entertaining. A must watch if available. The movie was released at a time when most of Rajesh Khanna's movies were bombing so not many people would have seen it. It is not a bad movie, it only released in improper times.

Namak Haraam
(1973)

an excellent movie
Namak Haraam is about two friends and how gradually social status comes in between them but they remain friends and sacrifice for each other. This Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie had some excellent music by R D Burman. Whereas in Anand, Amitabh had a small role here he has a parallel role against the Super Star Rajesh Khanna and both have done their role well. Amitabh has a loud role as against the soft role of Superstar and thus Amitabh got noticed in the movie. This is the second and last time that Rajesh and Amitabh acted in a movie ever. However, the movie is a classic epic and tale of two friends which is a must see for both Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan fans and here they will be able to make out what Super Star Rajesh Khanna was all about - the best emotional and romantic hero in India ever.
