Harry & Meghan: The Complete Story
(2022)

Whoever sides Meghan after watching is completely unable to see between the lines
Harry is just controlled here.. meghan looks so trying to justify herself. I wonder what harry saw in her to make him marry her.

Just appalling to watch, really. These two are even worse than Harry's great granduncle who abdicated to marry the american divorcee.

Seems like Meghan 's wish to cash in her way in this marriage materialised.

I wished I could've liked her the way I really enjoyed watching her in the series Suits. But all the red flags about her, beginning from the engagement to exiting the royal family to focus to be 'private', to the Oprah's interview, to this Netflix flick, and furthermore with Harry's constant burdened expression, screams a lot about these two.

Air Force: The Movie - Selagi Bernyawa
(2022)

Worth watching
What's up with that 5.7 rating on IMDb?

I'll give an 8.3. Great effort from the entire production team and casts. Proud to watch it at the big screen. Much better than Paskal.

Negative comments aside, I think Nas-T and Adi Putra did a great job being the two characters with the most time on camera. Aiman Hakim this time around, showed his serious side and commendable acting for his character. The movie reminds me of "Behind Enemy Lines".

A good film to be watched, even with young kids. So that they can know and appreciate the role of our frontliners of defence.

Ignore the unfair rating. Go watch!

Gangubai Kathiawadi
(2022)

Superb!
As usual, films made by SLB are a must watch, including Gangubai Kathiawadi. Alia Bhatt is a total eyecatcher in this movie, i bet she will win best actress at IIFA awards this year.

9/10. Yes I totally recommend this to be watched.

Daleui Ddeuneun Gang
(2021)

A must watch for sageuk fans
If you see the ratings of below 8/10 because of Ji Soo's removal from the show, then trust me, the reviews are blinded because they are rhe frustrated fans of Ji Soo.

This drama is a gem. Stellar performances by Na In Woo, Kim So Hyun and all the other actors in this drama. A tale that intertwines in love, revenge, betrayal, honour, patriotism, politics, sacrifice, rebellion, heroism.. so much that is going on in a drama.

Na In Woo as a 'babo On Dal'-turned General On Dal is a delight to see. The director is so good in making NIW look amazingly agile as a swordsman and a general in war. KSH did well too in being the queen-assassin-princess again (2 roles in the drama), but the story won't be satisfying without the support of all the casts in it. Gochuga, Go Geon, Mo Yong, the leaders of the tribes, love them or hate them, they played their role really well.

I love the fact that the twists and turns are not as I predicted. I am appalled by the fact that the Princess's brother who turned king turned out to be a man of tantrum leading Goguryeo. I'm glad it's a happy ending for the Princess and On Dal though the plot twist was a bit puzzling to accept. I suppose maybe On Dal didn't thoroughly learnt the art of "pausing" his body from the monk, and due to that, he momentarily lost his memory.

A 9.2/10 from me. A must watch. The OSTs are quite nice too.

Reflection of You
(2021)

Started good but it all went spiralling down until the end
Wow.. what a disappointment the journey of watching this drama was! It started with giving high expectations of complicated relationships filled with jealousy, anger, angst, revenge and torment, but towards the end, this story became more disappointing and frustrating. Too many loopholes left unanswered.

  • how did the rich Mr An fall for the janitor Ms Jeong and loved her too unconditionally?

  • how exactly did Mr Seo fall for Ms Jeong until he became insanely in love with her (or more like being infatuated with her).. to says Jeong is more attractive than Ms Gu is definitely not an issue.

  • why did Ms Gu love Mr Seo so much until she lost her senses even though he was acting nonchalantly even from the beginning?

  • what really happened to Ms Gu after being stabbed in the middle of the big street? Seriously she was back right on her feet and continue to paint? How absurd.

Mr Seo's character had no depth at all. Both Mr Seo and Ms Gu were like empty shells that gave zombie vibes in this drama. How did they meet, how did they became close that Ms Gu became so obsessed with him, why Ms Gu became so clueless when Mr Seo left her so suddenly.. all thise unanswered questions.

Don't expect the main leads to get their closure. Well, maybe closure in an obscure way. The only character I loved in the drama was Mr An. So loving and loyal to his wife, even when he knew she cheated on him. Well, I'm not sure if that's a good thing, I wished he lashed out his feelings to Ms Jeong a bit more.. it's not bad to say how one feels. And I totally hate it when Go Hyun Joong ( Ms Jeong) makes her "innocently-smiling face" when she was actually doing something bad behind her husband.. she looked like a troubled clown. Shin Hyun Bin (Ms Gu) looked messed up and a bit flat from beginning to the end.

One of the disappointing dramas I've watched in 2021.. I have a lot more to say but really, I'm just gonna say this drama is mediocre, except for the flaunting of BMWs.

Delicious Proposal
(2001)

A delightful surprise
I recommend fans of Son Ye Jin, So Ji Sub and Kwon Sang Woo to have a watch on this drama.. nice story filled with love, endeavour to succeed, jealousy, familial relationships and scrumptious food. I watched this because I love watching So Ji Sub and have run out of his works to watch. Worth my time.

SKY Castle
(2018)

Fantastically written and performed
I was held back from watching this show last year when I stopped at the first episode, thinking it portrayed too many busybody moms and I got suffocated. Then a week ago I was browsing through, and googled "kdramas with highest rating in IMDb", and Sky Castle was on the list. Then I thought I would give it a second chance, and continued watching . Mann! What a story this is!

Superb acting, superb script, superb camera works (totally love the scenes when the camera gets up close to the actors' eyes and lips, totally showing the emotions and encaptivation through one's words.). The pace of the drama was just perfect. The actors did an amazing job at their respective characters, and yes I feel quite upset this drama didn't win the best drama category at 55th Baeksang awards.

This is a must-watch for all kdrama fans. A total gem.

Easily 10/10. I could give 15/10 too because it's too good.

Road No. 1
(2010)

The best from So Ji Sub
All i can say is it's 10/10. SJS should have won Baeksang awards for this. Just too good. So Ji Sub fans, this is a must-watch for you.

I'm gonna read more about Korean War after writing this review.

20 episodes it is, but all are important episodes.

Kkotboda namja
(2009)

Jan-Di, you definitely made the wrong choice!
I watched BOF back in 2009 but it was not as consistent and I missed a few parts of the story, I didn't remember it correctly. Decided to rewatch this gem of a series, and it got ke glued. 25 episodes, I completed watching in 5 days. Lots of emotional roller coaster, and I must admit it's a great series to watch. No, it's a must watch for kdrama fans.

This kind of love only happend in dramas. I thinknin real life, boys like Ji Hu would have scored the girl.. nice, loving, understanding, polite, unlike the male lead, whonis so unlikeable and obnoxious. I guess opposites attract, and that must be the main reason why Jan Di kept on clinging to him albeit all the hardships and obstacles that she had to face in order to be with him.

Despite the lovely feeling this drama gave the viewers, some societal examples here shouldn't be followed. A total red flag if the mother of the boy of your dreams hate you, it's a big reason to walk away. But maybe the writers wanted to show the determined side of Jan Di, that she stayed persistent and steadfast in upholding her feelings towards Gu Jun Pyo.

I felt really sorry for Ji Hu, for all the kind gesture and for being Jan Di's knight in shining armour, without asking her anything in return, and for being almost brave to confess his feelings towards her, although he knew that Jan Di would decline.

Anyways, thank you for this beautiful series. It's packed with notions of love, friendship, betrayal, persistence, kindness, good-will-triumph-over-evil, and lots more.

Ku Hye Sun is sweet as Jan Di, though at many2 occasions i find her unable to actually express that particular kind of emotion to give Jan Di more justice. Lee Min Ho as Gu Jun Pyo looked natiral, though i really hate the curls. I guess he must have had an embarrassing moment of having his hair curled every time for shooting. Kim Hyun Joong fitted in as Yoon Ji Hu perfectly, timid and calm, very collected manner.

I would like to give it a 9. But since Ji Hu didn't get Jan Di, I have to reduce it to 7.8.

Thank you for the emotional ride, Boys Over Flowers.

Life is hard
I watched this film sue to the awards nominations it obtained. And of course because lately I have been watching quite a few good Korean movies.

This movie is a simple story that revolves around a little family who aspires to strive on a farm in a foreign land. Facing many obstacles and challenges, this family is edged at times to the corner, and even to a breaking point.

A beautiful film, but not that impactful. It leaves a saddening vibe at least to my heart. It will leave you with the question " will they find their happily ever after? Will they be ok and stick together? Will the kids grow well?" The story just leaves you to a few scenes of new hopes for the family.

A 6.8 from me to be exact.

What a pathetic show
I don't know why I spent my time watching.. maybe I am still hoping that there's light at the end of the tunnel for the wives. Episode 9 to 14 (that's effing 6 episodes!) have been an absolute bore to watch the men having affairs while the wives remain clueless especially the 40s wife. Plus, the cringey dialogues (your daughter wants to marry someone like her father (totally yikes.. that's a school-goer you sick mom!), and many other instances like a former hospital director being so clueless of how diabetics should avoid high carbs and processed food.. argh just too many wrong things..

I hope there is just season 1. Please a big no for season 2. Please end everything and let the wives have their revenge at episodes 15 and 16.

I'll rate the show when it ends. I just have to write this review. You're already warned.

It was just a story of drug addicts
Exploratory story about how a failed marketer, who just lost his job and hoping to make it to his daughter's graduation, accidentally killed his boss and tried to escape the situation. He met a lady (whom I initially thought was a gyspy fortune teller) who appeared to be actually be a drug dealer/ addict. And the rest of the story is all about the things that went on in their heads. I pity his daughter though.

Not that worth to watch anyway.. i give it a 5 for owen wilson.

I hate Eden Residence!
It's not easy to complete this series without feeling queasy, anxious and angry all at once. Lee Dong Wook (as Moon Jo) did an amazing job at being the highest culprit of all, and same goes to the actress whose role is the residence owner (can't recall her name at the point of writing). Hated her hair, her face, her grin, her disgusting way of making meals, and her pervertness towards the protagonist Jong Wu (Im Si Wan), the same hatred feeling for her in her role as the maid in the movie Parasite. The supporting roles of the hellish people in the residence are totally sickening-looking. Can't imagine if I were to be in the male lead's shoes.. i would have been discouraged by the stairs leading to the residence already. But yeah, this is a story, and I feel sorry for Jong U, wanting to search for a career in Seoul, but instead it took its toll on his physical and mental health, and it turned out to be a complete mess.

In short, this series is a total psychological thriller. The production team deserves all the applause for such amazing acting + cinematography + set + lighting + everything else that made the series what it is.

I just didn't like the ending though.. while I'm glad all the sick people are dead, I would like the male protagonist to have a little bit more self control over himself and his feelings, and know when to walk away. He really didn't know how to improve himself, argh that's annoying, really. Hated the fact that Moon Jo had successfully rubbed himself on Jong U, although he died.

What the story didn't explain though, is the development of relationship between Ms Um and Moon Jo. How did he become a dentist? Is he really a certified dentist, or just some guy with know-hows to stitch cuts and pulling out teeth? Did Ms Um really raise him to tertiary education with that sort of mental state? Unexplained. The script just made Ms Um mentioned a little bit of her raising Moon Jo as an orphan (in episode 10), but it's really not enough to understand why Moon Jo and Ms Um are so sick and mental.

So, my verdict: 7.7/10. A thriller worth to watch. Would I want to watch it again? Nope.

It's just so good
I watched "The Throne" (check So Ji Sub's filmography) yesterday and after watching, I tried to read what actually happened to King Jeongjo and his father, and I found this title with Hyun Bin (wow!) in it. This movie is a great continuity (although it's not meant to be that way) to "The Throne" movie. Great props and sets, very2 talented actors, photography is soo on point, my 2 hrs 15 mins felt so worth it. Most korean historical movies are so good to watch. Thumbs up to the director.

Thank you for this lovely movie
Lovely love story. SJS and HHJ played their roles very well. I saw SJS in his movie Be With You and I thought he was brilliant in there. But I suppose, in this story, SJS is even stellar. Glad the ending ends that way . Thank you writers for giving the love the two leads deserve.

It was alright
For me, it was quite frustrating that the twist in the plot in the middle of the movie turned that way. Trying to predict the next plots and somehow I was right! The unrelated plots of both the prosecutor and attorney's private was time wasting. The writers could explore more of the psychotic side of the main antagonist but they didn't, and just chose to tell his story from the witness statement. What a bore. Manav Kaul did a great job in having me hating him for the 2nd time (1st in Kai Po Che). He was intense and his facial expressions spoke volumes of his feelings. Arjun was ok, though not all out.

I just hated the ending though. Nail Polish 2 perhaps.

What a twist in the end..
It's been quite a while since I last watched a movie with tissues at my side. A lovely, heart- rendering drama with acting beautifully done by SYJ ans SJS.. watch it to the end please.. you may think the story is typical in the beginning, but as you move along the story, it will touch your heart, definitely.

Watched this the 2nd time as my 1st attempt was halfway. All i can say is i guess i just wasted my time watching.

A real complex drama
I think so far of the 30++ kdramas that I have watched, this one must be the most complex. A lot of layers and characters intertwined together, with mysteries and deaths surrounding. This is my 1st time watching Go Ara, and I suppose she did a great job here. The lead actor who played Han Moo Gang is also talented, as there are a few versions that Moo Gang had to be. Only thing is that there are not so many mixed emotions when watching this.. mostly suspense, frustration and being helpless.. very few moments of happiness.

My verdict: nice series, but not a go-to kdrama if you're not looking for a heavy subject matter.

Almost there but not quite
I watched WTCB because I wanted to find out why it outshone CLoY at the Baeksang Awards, and why Kang Ha Neul won best actor.

The story of Dong Baek and her 8 year old Pil Gu, with Yong Sik by their side is a mixture of feelings, and it's good to watch a series that doesn't really emphasize on the looks of the actors (like "What's wrong with secretary kim" glorifying the looks of park seo joon and park min young (yawn!)). The story is heard-rendering, sometimes happy, lots of downs for Dong Baek. What is worse, the presence of the mystery murderer Joker, which I think the explanation of his motive of all the killings is too shortlived and under-explained. There was no backstory on how Dong Baek's mother could have another legal daughter, and how Pil Gu adjusted to Yong Sik once again after he left Seoul. And i just loathe how Dong Baek keeps on repeating over and over again how she lived a life as an orphan. Maybe the scriptwriter has run out of lines to write..

All in all, WTCB is a delight, but a tad too long and can be quite a bore. 8/10 from me. (I gave CLoY 10/10 btw)

Easily 10/10. Sets the bar too high for kdramas
Oh my God.. what did I just finish watching?! A splendid but heartbreaking story about a brave girl Go Ae Shin with 3 special men eho loved her, fighting alongside fellow Koreans against the cruel Japanese during the beginning and the middle of Japanese occupation. The storytelling, the characters, the cinematography, the songs, the set, just everything, are beautifully done and captured. This drama beats all of the kdramas I watched before, even CLoY. Sad ending it was for the story, but that's how it is.. a happy ending would be awkward in the times of war and despair. Credit goes to the director and the writer of course. Lee Byung Hun as Eugene Choi and Kim Tae Ri as Go Ae Shin, together with the samurai guy Gu Dong Mae, the rich young man turned editor Hui Seong and tye hotel owner Hina Kudo were like the perfect mix of happiness, sadness and togetherness.

Totally recommending all kdrama lovers to watch this. Very honest and pure love. I watched this 2 yrs after the release because of the high IMDb rating that nearly matched CLoY's, both dramas I give 10/10.

A different perspective on life beautifully captured
IONTBO us definitely worth a watch. Some parts of the show looked somewhat inspired by Tim Burton, and some other parts like the books illustrations reminded me of the movie "Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart". The cinematography is splendid, and the script is thoughtfully written.

Oh Jung Se as Moon Sang Tae played an award-winning acting as the autistic brother. I was surprised to see him being so into the character, as I saw him played another corporate role in another Kdrama. Seo Ye Ji is terrific as the beautiful, moody, anti-heroine character Mun Young, and Kim Soo Hyun as Moon Gang Tae looks balanced in complementing her.

I loved how the ending provided the freedom for the three main characters. Only that I was wishing for a more explained back story of the evil Do Hui Jae ( Koo Mun Young's mother), like how she survived although she was like bleeding to death, how did she have so much money to change her face, why she was behaving like a lunatic despite being a famous writer.. which were all left unanswered. Major plothole there.

The supporting characters are filled with kind hearted people who taught a lot about humanity and goodwill. Watching the show kind of opens a new window of seeing life in a different perspective, like finding happiness although life itself feels so dark and gloomy.

I think I will rank this kdrama 3rd after CLOY and Descendants of the Sun.

A refreshing side of Ji Chang Wook
Although this show started with a lot of criticisms from the public, I am glad to say that this show is a non-typical, very delightful genre that shows a new side of kdrama. The storyline is simple, no time wasting like certain kdramas with lengthy unnecessary cute staring at each other. Every episode reveal a new story of the characters. JCW and Yoo Jung did a great job. The supporting actors (the dad and the mom, the friends Dal Sik and Geum Bi) were funny, annoying, saddening, delighting all at the same time. I'll give it a watch again when I feel I miss Jung Saet Byul and Choi Dae Hyun :)

I wanted to give a 9 until the ending took that 1 star away
Very unconventional story, i was so engaged watching it but i suppose the ending was too abrupt, that it left a lot of things unexplained in the story, such as:
  • how to explain the demarcation of physical and AR matter/ particles, like the spilling of blood, death, injury.. it doesn't really make sense.
  • how did se-ju manage to free himself from his hiding
  • what happened to marco? Isn't he a bug himself?
  • does the ending imply that Hee-Ju can only meet Jin Woo in AR realm? Can't she see hum if she logs out of the game? Unexplained.
  • why is Jin Woo able to see the NPCs even after logging out of the game? He was not yet the master to have such abilities.

A lot more plotholes, left unexplained. But I suppose MOTA is a niche performance by Hyun Bin. Park Shin Hye is a delight though her character does not have that exciting edge, more or less a damsel looking for her love. Nevertheless, the spark between the two leads seemed forced.

It should be stretched to 20 episodes.. or the director could've cut out the repetitive scenes.
