Slam
(2008)

A nice Asian gem
I got bored by Hollywood production, because their movies started too look all the same, so I often watch foreign movies. I have learned to love both European and Asian cinema because they offer something new, instead of superhero movies and shallow comedies which are lately coming from Holywood. Slam is a hidden gem, nicely paced, with a simple yet interesting story, beliveable acting, I enjoyed watching it with my friends.

Who Is Alice
(2017)

Enjoyed it
As an Ali Bastian fan, I had to see this film. Especially because she won five or six Best Actress Awards for her role of Alice in this film. We see Ali going from beautiful (as she is) to a panicking actress trying to reach the top. At first I thought this would be a cliché film, but that changed after about 25 minutes when they start messing with the viewer's mind. I enjoyed this film and especially enjoyed Ali's acting. Also a bit compliment for Cally Lawrence. I've seen her in The Office years ago where she was great. In this film she is great again, and very funny.

The Confines
(2015)

Loved it
I watch horror movies very often and honestly I got tired of the latest trend in horrors to be as bloody and gory as possible. If you want a great horror movie, with an intriguing story, superb acting and a nice ending with a twist, The Abandoned might be perfect for your late night watching. The scenery is spooky, there were some decent scares and I really liked Louisa Krause's performance. Jason Patric was good in his role, as expected, and there was a good chemistry between the two main actors. Sit back, relax and enjoy the movie and don't over-analyze it like some of the reviewers here. Overall, I was greatly entertained, and I hope I will see more from this director in the future.

Pixies
(2015)

Pixie culture
The Pixies is a very hilarious comedy movie. In the story the main characters are Joe Beck and his pixie rival who keeps pulling tricks on him. Joe Beck encounters danger at every single turn as he tries desperately to avoid punishment by the Pixies for doing something wrong a long time ago. After a while Joe decides that these pixies problems are interfering with his life in every way possible. He finally decides to learn more about the pixie culture. One of the best things that were done with this story is the fact that the fictional pixie history was created by these brilliant people who had a great imagination. Also the animators did a fantastic job with the different character they were assigned to work on. Overall the film gives an interesting link between the real world and the fantasy world of folklore.

Olympus: Daedalus
(2015)
Episode 2, Season 1

Dashing Olympus
What I don't like for sure is that the first half of the episode relies solely on Daedalus the inventor, but he doesn't seem very important. I mean the title of the episode itself is misleading because it's called Daedalus. So the episode is really supposed to be about him, and not anything else. However I'm getting the impression that maybe the episode is about Queen Medea more or King Aegeus in this scenario. One of the other big dilemmas that I have with this film is that I just feel like the pacing is too slow. For god's sake we are living in the twenty first and TV shows need to have a quicker pacing. If not then the audience is totally going to fall asleep and I don't even blame them. Now just for the record I am by no means suggesting that Olympus is a bad TV show. I am merely saying that it's flawed in parts. Now I love the sound effects such as the anger of the gods, and the camera angles and visual effects.

Olympus
(2015)

The Two Kings
Olympus is a good Greek myth TV show. The filmmakers are really talent as it takes great imagination and talent to make something so magnificent. The fun of Olympus is it's like seeing a Greek version of an action movie. Something that hasn't been attempted before. I thought it was not bad for a TV series. I must admit though I thought it could be better. For an episode about immortality a concept so deep in ancient Greece I felt that they could have done a better job with special effects. The whole architectural design of ancient Greece in the movie was very accurate. I'll give the film producers a pat on the back for that, but I still think that much of it came out looking fake and computerized. Aside from that the story was good and I especially took pleasure in the scene of the meeting with King Aegeus and his cabinet.

Altar
(2014)

Altar is Full of Surprises
There is no movie like Altar some might say, but I don't entirely agree with them. First of all let me start with the best stuff that the movie has to offer. There is a good plot that ties everything together, thematic soundtracks, and a good cast. However I was slightly disappointed that at the start of the story things didn't really kick off like they should have. I just thought that the beginning of the story could have been a little more interesting, but other than that it was good. Maybe sometimes it's better to develop the story first and some of the characters or their environment for that matter before actually getting into the action of it all. The actions scenes were the very best so I have no complaints about this. There are only a couple more problems that I have with the film Altar that prevented me and other viewers from enjoying it as much as I could have I admit. The first one is the fact that a little too much is revealed about the house too soon in my opinion. On the other side of the coin I like how the filmmaker's foreshadow the story by using one of the main characters Meg Hamilton, who restores historic houses does this by saying, "I have a feeling this house is full of surprises."
