My boyfriend and I picked this at random because there was nothing else to watch and we're now both obsessed. I don't know if it's because our expectations were non-existent but we loved every weird, quirky moment of this oddball film. We were cracking up the entire time and now want to go visit Vista Del Mar and have a Barb and Star adventure but it sadly doesn't exist in real life :(.
Not sure I understand why everyone's taking a reality show so seriously. Appreciate it for what it is - mindless and fun entertainment. I love any show that shows non stereotypical views of Asians and the ethnic diversity of the cast.
Also makes Singapore look a lot more fun than I thought. Will be binge watching this weekend.
Everyone calm down - it's a reality show - not a documentary...
Having a hard time figuring out why people are putting more weight on Made in Mexico than other typical reality shows. As a reality show connoisseur I'll let you in on a secret, they're not supposed to be "real". I stumbled upon Made in Mexico bc most of the Real Housewives shows are on hiatus and I needed a fix. So even though I didn't feel like I could really relate given that the show was in Spanish, I got desperate so gave the first episode a shot and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it really want any different from any other bravo reality show - shallow and good looking people, unnecessary drama and surprisingly interesting insight into an aspect of Mexico City culture/society.
It's not supposed to solve the world's problems and mend relations by the US and Mexico. It's really made for people like me who are addicted to inane reality shows. Also REALLY made me want to visit México City for the first time. Looking forward to 2nd season!
Not sure why there are so many uptight reviewers in this forum. Wasn't expecting Oscar worthy performances for a movie about Ibiza but it definitely was a fun watch. My partying days are behind me but it took me back to those unexpectedly crazy nights with good friends that I'll never forget. Made me a bit nostalgic even! Also the soundtrack was fire!
I am kind of surprised by how many negative reviews there were and I almost didn't watch the movie because of them but am so glad I did. It wasn't as good as Trainwreck for sure but I loved the storyline and it was just the right movie to watch when in the mood to laugh and not think so much.
Agreed with other reviews that Michelle Williams was surprisingly perfect and is reason enough to go watch the movie but I also identified with so many moments in the film because let's admit it - we've all experienced the various stages of Amy's confidence evolution ladies.
I also love that Soulcycle and NYC were background characters in the movie. All in all, it was a really fun time and it would be a mistake to miss out b/c of some weirdly negative reviews that seem to take the film a bit too seriously.
Can't believe the low rating for one of the best movies to come out of the 80s! I was obsessed with this movie growing up and am happy to see that it still holds up and feels fresh in spite of the dated references (pre-Giuliani NYC and the fact that Des lives in a huge loft on a projector man's salary). It sort of makes me miss the grittier version of NYC. Rosanna Arquette and Aidan Quinn have the BEST chemistry - actually all of the characters play so well against each other - even Gary was likable toward the end. DSS shows Madonna at her prime - they don't make them like her anymore. And the soundtrack is amazing and of course features some of Madonna's best songs. Am desperately waiting for a remake!
