Charlotte
(2015)

A rollercoaster as far as quality IMO
Some parts of the story are way better than others. Overall I'm glad I watched it!

My one piece of advice for someone starting it to avoid getting legitimately angry like I did,

Emotionally prepare yourself to see central characters make a few braindeath-level stupid decisions that lead to a lot of trouble.

Nocturne
(2020)

This was not a horror movie
You need to know this BEFORE you decide to watch the movie, but saying explicitly what it is would be a spoiler, so I guess just...

It's not what you're probably expecting. The main thing that normally happens in every horror movie, basically the thing that MAKES a horror movie a horror movie, does not happen in this movie.

I've probably seen a hundred horror movies by now and in my experience, that is unprecedented.

Having said that, I think the acting was pretty good. The characters and their emotions seemed genuine and the drama felt intense, so I can't bash it too hard.

This is your low budget warning that I wish IMDB had given me. Skip this if you care about visuals and special effects
Nothing sci-fi about this other than how they're in a place humans haven't been yet. The usual space mission movie stuff, machinery breaking down, improvising to fix it, that's basically it. Almost all implied deaths happen off-camera. Only one decent visual effect in the whole thing. Nothing cool or flashy or freaky to look forward to

Had to give it 5 stars because of the other factors involved, acting and plot and characters and stuff. I do care about those things but I'm just not picky about them. It's not as much of a let-down for me when a movie isn't so great in those aspects

I Trapped the Devil
(2019)

"estimated" $1,000,000 budget you say??
Not even joking. Go back to the movie's page and scroll down to the budget. I wanna know who made that "estimate", someone involved in the production no doubt. What did they spend the money on? The entire movie is set inside one small house, there are very few actors, all unattractive, I hesitate to use the term "special effects" for what they did. It's called "I trapped the devil", yet there is no gore beyond blood, no makeup artists, nothing that looked remotely supernatural... A quiet voice and a very frail body are not the greatest ways to depict something that people expect to be scary... Budgets are considered superficial to many, to each their own but some people care a lot about flashy visuals and sounds and sets, and deliberately setting them up for disappointment is just more bad reviews for you

A Monster Among Men
(2013)

2 gallons of NOPE in a 12-ounce can
Remember this is only a 20,000 dollar budget. My fault for not reading the budget before watching. Also I didn't go to film school or anything so I might not be qualified to say what's good and what's not.

Having said that... This is my first review - I made an account just for this so that others don't make my mistake . 85%+ of the kills happened off screen. No visible violence, no gore beyond blood on skin and clothing. Basically just a bunch of people walking around the woods at night arguing with each other. If you pay attention to the dialogue all the way through you'll notice that it's actually unclear what happened to all the people.

2 instead of 1 because of the one hot actress.
