The Expendables 2
(2012)

The Expendables review
Entertaining, enjoyable. A 2012 movie but with an 80's taste. No CGI , no computers, just old-fashioned special FX and a bunch of 40, 50, 60 and even 70 years old actors who still can do action movies, believe it or not. This group of old geezers make fun of all their previous movies, The action sequences are very well made. Of course that the plot is as simple as A B C but as you all know The Expendables 2 is a movie not intended to make you think, its only intention is to make people spend a good time with a spectacular and adrenaline-pumping action-packed extravaganza and that's just the way this movie should be seen. In conclusion, The Expendables 2 is an enjoyable movie with good old-fashioned, entertaining and mindless violence.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
(2011)

Not worthy. Don't waste your time and money
When I knew that there was going to be a second Ghost Rider movie I really expected to be better than the first one. Now I realize that I was completely wrong and I feel so disappointed. The movie is a completely waste of time, with a lack of content and story. Although the CGI and the FX are really good, they depend and abuse on them. What can I say about the cast. Nicolas Cage is definitely awful, the only thing he does is laugh and scream all his lines. Violante Placido's performance was really weak, Ciaran Hinds as Roark is way overacted, maybe the only good performance was the one of Fergus Riordan as Danny. In conclusion, if you are one of the people that thought the first one was bad (not including me) well I recommend you not to go and watch this one and if you still want to watch it well, it's under your own risk.

The Muppets
(2011)

A unique and enjoyable experience
The Muppets movie is a enjoyable, funny movie. The moment I sat on my seat and began watching the movie I felt like a kid again, that's the magic The Muppets have. The film is simple but entertaining, the rhythm is slow but never boring. The music is great, with new songs and also with the all- time Muppets classics from the TV show. The performances were exactly the way they should be. Jason Segel and Amy Adams make a perfect couple on screen. Chris Cooper is a very hilarious villain. Watching Zack Galifianakis, Jack Black, Whoopi Goldberg, Jim Parsons and many more prestigious well known artists with special appearances was awesome. With this movie we can assure that good things never get old and The Muppets are a prove of that. If you're a Muppets fan, definitely you will enjoy the movie, if not give it a try you won't regret it

In Time
(2011)

Not what I expected
It has action, it has adventure. At first I couldn't believe Justin Timberlake as the action hero but as the movie moves along he convince me. Amanda Seyfried as beautiful she is, she looks kinda weird with that red-hair look and his performance was a little weak and not very credible. Also I would wish more from Olivia Wilde, her performance was way too short. A good surprise was watching Johnny Galecki in a role completely different And Cillian Murphy as the corrupted cop Raymond Leon was good, that role fits him really well. The movie rhythm is way too slow and repetitive. Resuming, the idea of the film is quite interesting and original, but poorly developed by director Andrew Niccol. It's a shame because I really expected good thing about this movie

The Burning Plain
(2008)

A barely convincing debut from Guillermo Ariaga
The Burning Plain, a romantic mystery about a woman on the edge who takes an emotional journey back to the defining moment of her life. Written and directed by Guillermo Arriaga (Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel). It is a heart breaking, touching movie. It follows the formula of having a main story with various sub-stories that in the end their paths are crossed. The rhythm is a little slow, it continuously changes from story to story making it hard to follow and a little boring at some moments. The cast is good. Charliza Theron, Kim Basinger John Corbett, Robin Tunney, Jose Maria Yazpik, everyone delivering very convincing performances although some of them are a little overacted as well. In conclusion, If you've seen Babel or 21 Grams or Amores Perros, all of them written by Ariaga, then you know what to expect with The Burning Plain

The Expendables
(2010)

Don't ask why. Just enjoy it
The Expendables is a movie directed by Sylvester Stallone that tells the story of a group of renegades that make the job out of the eyes of the law. Their latest job is to overthrow an South American dictator but without knowing that there's more behind all this. This film full of action and adventure is like a tribute to all those 80's and 90's action movies, first because all the representatives of those movies appear here (Bruce Willis, Sylsvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger). The story is predictable and the plot is a little weak. The cast is interesting, formed by actors (Stallone, Li, Statham, Lundgren, Rourke) and wrestlers (Austin and Couture) everyone doing the best they can and with the special appearances of Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger parodying themselves the movie is quite enjoyable. In conclusion, you most take The Expewndables for what it is, a movie which only purpose is to entertain the viewer and I think it achieve it pretty well.

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt
(2009)

Good enough for my taste
Remake of the 1956 film in which a writer's plan to expose a corrupt district attorney takes an unexpected turn. The movie is a good thriller with very good suspense, action and adventure. The story is very interesting, it will catch you from the very beginning, the plot is very well developed. The rhythm at the beginning of the movie is kinda slow and makes the movie a little boring but it began to get better near the end and also the twist at the end was really surprising. The cast is good. Michael Douglas is very good, this type of movies suits him very well. Amber Tamblyn was very convincing also and Jesse Metcalf gave a decent performance as well. In conclusion, It was a good enjoyable movie, could be better but one can be satisfied with the result.

Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore
(2010)

Kids please don't ask your parents to watch this
Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore is the sequel of 2001 Cats and Dogs, it tells the story of Kitty Galore, formerly an agent for cat spy organization MEOWS, has gone rogue and hatched a diabolical plan to not only bring her canine enemies to heel, but take down her former kitty comrades and make the world her scratching post. Faced with this unprecedented threat, cats and dogs will be forced to join forces for the first time in history in an unlikely alliance to save themselves and their humans. Unlike the first one that was original and enjoyable, this one pretends to be funny without achieving it, the characters aren't as credible someone would think, the story isn't very good and the plot isn't very well developed. The cast is good in names. Chris O'Donnell and Jack McBrayer in live action characters and the voices of Neil Patrick Harris, Bette Midler, Joe Pantoliano, Sean Hayes, James Marsden, Christina Applegate and Nick Nolte. In conclusion, the movie may attract little kids for a period of time with some moments of humor but that's it.

The Last Airbender
(2010)

Far from what I expected
Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, The Last Airbender tells the story of a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. and the only one who can solve this is a little boy named Aang, the latest reincarnation of the Avatar, the only person in the world able to control all four elements. With the help of two siblings, Katara and Sokka, they go on a journey to defeat the Lord of the Fire Nation. Now Although the movie isn't quite accurate and the timeline is a little weird, The story is a little weak, the plot isn't well developed, the movie barely fulfilled my expectations as a fan of the t.v. series. The movie is a little dark for my taste and the rhythm is way too slow. The cast has its pros and cons. Noah Ringer performing as Aang is quite convincing as well as Nicola Petz as Katara, Dev Patel as Suko is in my opinion a little overacted and Jackson Rathbone as Sokka I feel that he didn't understand his character and he didn't get fully into him. In conclusion, The Last Airbender was a movie that I enjoy just because I'm a fan but it was way far from what I expected also as a fan.

The Switch
(2010)

A romantic comedy you wont remember
The Switch basically tells the story of a woman who desperately wants to have a baby and she plans to find the best donor possible. The donor is presented on a party where the woman's best male friend changes accidentally the sperm of the donor with his own. Time passes by and she returns with her son unleashing an innumerable amount of conflicts. It is the typical romantic comedy about a man in love with his best girl friend but she don't feel the same about him. The story is interesting, the plot is OK. It has some good moments of humor but the slow rhythm makes it a little boring. The cast is good, Jennifer Aniston is made for this type of movies, and makes a very good couple with Jason Bateman whose performance is quite convincing. Thomas Robinson, the kid in the role of Jennifer Aniston's son is also very good and has-very good chemistry with Bateman is quite interesting. Jeff Goldblum and Juliette Lewis are convincing enough in their secondary roles as the friend of Bateman and Aniston respectively. In conclusion, The Switch is a romantic comedy intended more to women than to man but that doesn't mean that both can enjoy it.

The Joneses
(2009)

Definitely not worth paying to watch this
The Joneses features a seemingly perfect couple (Moore and Duchovny) with their equally perfect teenager son and daughter (Amber Heard and Ben Hollingsworth). They have better goods and game than any other family in town, the only problem is they're not a family: they are employees of a stealth marketing organization, and they know how to make everyone else want what they've got. The movie seems interesting and original but on screen I only saw a slow paced boring drama. The movie is an hour and a half of commercials, it seems that they are trying to sell you all the stuff that appears in the film. The cast although it is very good, their performances are weak. Demi Moore appears to be uncomfortable with her role, David Duchovny is extremely charmless, Amber Heard and Benjamin Hollingsworth look like they need acting classes. The only ones that are worthy are Gary Cole and Glenne Headly as Larry and Summer,The Joneses neighbors. In conclusion, The Joneses is a movie that isn't worthy, avoid it, and if you still wanna see it, its under your own risk. This is not a recommendation, its a warning.

Despicable Me
(2010)

I enjoy it very much
Despicable Me tells the story of Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. he world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes. The movie is entertaining, funny and enjoyable. It has a very good animation. The story is original and the plot is very well developed. It has a very good rhythm, it keeps you entertain for an hour an a half. The cast of voices is great. Steve Carell is Gru, Jason Segel as Vector, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo and Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario everyone delivering very good performances. In conclusion, Despicable Me is a movie to enjoy and better in the 3-D version. Totally worthy and fully recommendable.

Inception
(2010)

Inception is the movie event of the year
Inception, the latest movie from director Christopher Nolan is by far the most original, interesting, full of action, intelligent thriller of the year. the movie tells the story of a group of corporative thieves with a peculiar yet innovative method of stealing other people secrets, entering to its own mind. The movie is an adrenaline rush, a mind blowing journey that will leave you on the edge of your seat for almost two hours and a half. It has such a fast pace rhythm that it is nearly impossible to get distracted got even a second. The special effects are incredible and the music gives a great atmosphere of suspense. The cast is excellent and all of its members deliver flawless performances. Leo DiCaprio is in his best moment, he is growing a lot as an actor, the experience of Ken Watanabe is incredible, Ellen Page and Joseph Gordon Levitt are a pair of young actors with incredible abilities and Marion Cotillard combines her beauty with her talent to shine on screen. With this movie Christopher Nolan is on the top list of greatest directors, of course if he wasn't there yet. In conclusion, Inception is the blockbuster of the year. Very recommendable.

Shrek Forever After
(2010)

A very decent ending for Shrek
Shrek 4 or Shrek Forever After is the latest and final chapter of this Shrek's series. In this one, we found a Shrek bored with his present life, no one fears him anymore, that's why he makes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to have at least one day of the life he had but with catastrophic consequences and realizing that he already had all he wants in life. In my opinion this 4th movie is way better than the third one but not as good as the first two. It is better developed, has more adventure and it is funnier. The story is more interesting and original and it doesn't have unnecessary characters. It has a good rhythm that will keep you entertain for the entire movie. As usual the animation is perfect and with the plus of 3-D even better. The cast of voices is great. Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas return as Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Puss in boots, everyone with excellent performances and as the villain Rumpelstiltskin we have Walt Dohrn with a convincing job. In conclusion, Shrek Forever After is a enjoyable and entertaining movie for all the family and a very good ending for the series.

I Love You Phillip Morris
(2009)

Give it a chance, you won't regret it
I love you Phillip Morris tells us the true story of Steven Russell (Jim Carrey), a supposedly happy married man with a good job that in reality is a gay con man. In one of his many visits to jail, he falls in love with Phillip Morris, his cell mate. When Phillip Morris gets out of jail. Russell to prove his love he will escape in numerous times and do the impossible to be with his love one. The movie is interesting and funny, it has a quick paced rhythm that never bores you. The cast is very good, Jim Carrey is Steven Russell, his performance was excellent, maybe one of the finest of his career, Ewan McGregor as Phillip Morris isn't as good as I expected but it was convincing enough. The supporting roles of Leslie Mann as Debbie, Carrey's wife and Rodrigo Santoro as Jimmy, one of Carrey's lovers were very decent. In conclusion, I love you Phillip Morrismay not be a movie of everyone's taste but it's surely worthy to take a look

Toy Story 3
(2010)

The perfect ending for the trilogy
Toy Story 3 is the last installment of the Toy story series. In this one Andy is ready to go to college, and all the toys, including Woody and Buzz, are left in a day-care. They will try to return to Andy's house and in the process they will live a bunch of adventures to achieve their goal. The movie is excellent. it has adventure, action and very good humor. The story is very good and the plot is very well developed. The animation as always is awesome and the soundtrack is also very good. The cast of voices is incredible. We have Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and Don Rickels repeating roles as Woody, Buzz and Jesse and Mr. Potato Head respectively, but we also have new characters like Ken with the voice of Michael Keaton and Ned Beatty as Lotso the bear. In conclusion, Toy Story 3 is an excellent movie, entertaining and enjoyable and it leaves you a good message like "you're never too old to feel like a kid".

Kick-Ass
(2010)

Kick-Ass: original and entertaining
What will happen if one good day someone decides to be a superhero just because he wants to. Well that's what this movie suggests us. Kick-Ass tells the story of Dave Lizewski an ordinary New York teenager and rabid comic-book geek that becomes the no nonsense vigilante Kick-Ass. As Kick- Ass gets drawn into this no-holds-barred world, the stage is set for a final showdown between the forces of good and evil. Kick-Ass is the adaptation of the comic book of the same name created by Mark Millar. It is original, entertaining, full of action, adventure and a very good and dark humor. The cast is formed bye Aaron Johnson as Kick-Ass, Nicolas Cafe in the role of Big Daddy, Mark Strong as Frank D'Amico, Christopher Mintz- Plasse (a.k.a McLovin) as Red Mist and Chloe Moretz performing as Hit Girl. Everyone delivers excellent performances specially Moretz and Johnson. In conclusion, Kick-Ass is a movie that will leave you 2 hours of pure enjoyable action. It is very recommendable.

Brothers
(2009)

An very intense drama
Brothers is a movie that tells the story of a young man comforts his older brother's wife and children after he goes missing in Afghanistan. It is a very intense drama full of conflicts. The plot is very well developed and the story is very interesting because it reflects a problem that could happen in real life to real people. The rhythm is a little slow and sometimes you feel that the movie isn't progressing specially at the moments of war. The cast is excellent, Tobey Maguire gives us a little overacted but also very credible performance first as a loving husband and father ready to go to war and then as a mentally disturbed soldier. Jake Gyllenhaal in the role of Tobey's brother is also very good changing from a irresponsible person to the man of the house taking care of his brother's wife ands children, Natalie Portman is a great actress, his performance is so convincing you can really feel her sorrow and a special mention to the two girls that performed as Maguire and Portman girls the two of them give a believable performance specially the bigger one. In conclusion, Brothers is a recommendable option, just one thing, go watch this movie relax because the tension it has will trap you.

The A-Team
(2010)

A good adaptation from the 80's TV series
The A-Team maybe isn't the best movie adapted from a TV series, but I'm sure that is is one of the most if not the most entertaining and full of action. The movie follows the story of a group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed. It is the typical action movie full of explosions, fights, lots and lots of weapons, with very good humor, a very enjoyable yet predictable story and a decent plot. The cast is very good Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Jessica Biel Patrick Wilson and Sharlto Copley everyone with good performances specially Neeson and Cooper, with Rampage Jackson in some moments I couldn't stop thinking on Mr. T with his catchy phrase "I pity the fool.........". In conclusion, The A-Team is a entertaining and enjoyable movie. Excellent to remember for those who watched the 80's series and for those who don't knew it, it's the perfect time to begin.

Marmaduke
(2010)

Its strange but I enjoy it
Marmaduke is the adaptation to movies of the cartoon of the same name. The story is about a suburban family moves to a new neighborhood with their large yet lovable Great Dane, who has a tendency to wreak havoc in his own oblivious way. Marmaduke is mainly intended for little kids, some adults may enjoy it others might feel light a living hell. The movie has some funny moments and others are kinda foolish. The CGI to make the animals talk are nothing out of this world but decent enough. The story is a little predictable. The cast of voices are the best thing with Owen Wilson as Marmaduke, Fergie as Jezebel, Kiefer Sutherland as Bosco and George Lopez as Carlos. We also have Lee Pace and Judy Greer as Phil and Debbie Winslow, Marmaduke's owners and William H. Macy as Pace's boss. In conclusion, Kids will love Marmaduke and for one strange reason I enjoy it. So if you have children and a very big patience, take them to see this movie. If not well its your choice.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
(2010)

Where's the epic adventure
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is the adaptation of the popular 80's video game The prince of Persia. The movie is about A rogue prince (JAKE GYLLENHAAL) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (GEMMA ARTERTON) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time - a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. Prince of Persia tries to be an epic adventure full of action, some moments of humor, romance and fantasy. What it really is just an adventure with some decent action, a little of humor and cheesy moments. But not everything is bad, its special effects are quite awesome. The cast is pretty good, their performances not really, Jake Gyllenhaal is good but I think that the role of hero didn't fit him very well, Gemma Arterton was decent enough in her role of Tamina, Sir Ben Kingsley is Nizam, the villain, his performance was maybe the most convincing of all along with Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar, he contribute with the funniest situations of the movie. In conclusion, what promise to be a big epic adventure destined to be a summer blockbuster, ended as a disappointing movie leaving us wanting for more..

She's Out of My League
(2010)

Nothing special but worth give it a chance
She's out my league tells the story of An average Joe meets the perfect woman, but his lack of confidence and the influence of his friends and family begin to pick away at the relationship. It has a lot of influence from Judd Apatow's movies, following the same formula of the loser guy or a 5 having a crush for a perfect 10. The story is good but a little predictable, the plot is well developed. It has some funny jokes and situations but also some corny ones. It has a decent cast mainly formed by new faces but with decent performances.. In conclusion, She's out of your league is a movie which only purpose is to entertain, it isn't something great but it is pretty recommendable to watch it on a weekend with nothing to do in good company of friends, family or someone special

Robin Hood
(2010)

Ridley's Robin Hood is worthy enough
Robin Hood latest movie by director Ridley Scott with Russell Crowe as Robin Hood. The movie focuses first on the battle of Robin to help the villagers that are being exploit by the king, and then on a ferocious war against the Spanish army. The movie is full of action, adventure, romance and maybe a little bit of humor. The rhythm is quite slow situation that makes the movie boring or tiresome at some moments besides that it is more than 2 hours long. The battle sequences are excellent there's not a single flaw in any of them. Ridley Scott manages the story to the perfection, he really knows how catch the viewer. The cast is very good. Russell Crowe delivers a good Robin Hood performance, although it sometimes reminds me his Gladiator role, Cate Blanchett is good as Lady Marion, William Hurt, Mark Strong, Max Von Sydow, Dany Huston and Mark Ady give a good support with their secondary roles. In conclusion, Robin Hood isn't the best from Ridley Scott and neither the best role fro Crowe but it is still worthy to watch.

The Back-up Plan
(2010)

Don't watch this. It's not worthy
OK i'm going to be brief because this movie doesn't deserve my time and effort. The Backup plan tells the story of Zoe, after years of dating, she decided waiting for the right one is taking to long. determined to become a mother, she commits to a plan, makes an appointment and decides to go it alone. The movie is corny, foolish and totally a boring chick flick. One hour and a half of pure suffering with a nonsense story, a very weak plot, dumb jokes and silly situations. The cast isn't bad but their performances are just awful. People should banned Jennifer Lopez to act, seriously its a shame to see her in any movie. Alex O'Loughlin is better but not enough to save a movie and the rest well they didn't deserve a mention. In conclusion, The Backup Plan is a total waste of time and money. Just Avoid it its not worthy.

The Men Who Stare at Goats
(2009)

Unique, interesting, enjoyable and entertaining
The Men who Stare at Goats is a movie based on a true story about a secret unit within the US Army called the First Earth Battalion, whose paranormal military ideas mutated over the decades to influence interrogation techniques at Guantanamo Bay. It has a very interesting story and a very well developed plot, its first 45 minutes has a very fast paced that makes the movie entertaining and with some moments of good black humor. But the second 45 is a bit slower and it may get tiresome or boring. The cast is really great, George Clooney is hilarious, Ewan McGregor is excellent, Jeff Bridges gives us a very good performance that remind us to "The Dude" in The Big Lebowski and Kevin Spacey is like the villain of the movie, his role is really funny though. Directed by Grant Heslov, this movie has a big influence by the Coen Brothers. To conclude, The Men that Stare at Goats i an enjoyable and entertaining movie. I fully recommended it.
