Rogue One
(2016)

Good to see a story outside the classic Star Wars saga
It was good to see a story outside the classic Star Wars saga for once. The movie had a great cast and great potential. The story worked itself up to the climax a little too slow to my liking, but the third act makes the wait worthwhile. Despite the fact that the ending was a little bit too dramatic for me and took a chunk of credibility out of the movie, it was still a good and satisfying movie.

National Theatre Live: Hamlet
(2015)

A perfect reincarnation of the master of theater
Once more a thrilling and intense performance from Cumberbatch. A perfect reincarnation of the master of theater, amazingly performed by an impressively convincing cast. A fantastic immersion from all the actors and for every audience. An absolute must-see for any amateur of Shakespeare.

Doctor Strange
(2016)

My favorite Marvel movie next to Iron Man
One of Marvels best origin stories yet, with a developed plot in perfect balance with the on)screen action. Strange is confronted wit many problems, both from the outside and within. The small touches of humour and tint of romance make it an amazing Marvel movie. The one turn-off is that sometimes, one could practically see the money glued on the screen.

National Theatre Live: Frankenstein
(2011)

Intense, must-see work of art
An intense, must-see thrilling performance from both Cumberbatch and Miller. The dialogues filled with static chemistry, a beautiful and perfect mix between beauty and horror, a destabilized yet animated stage that shows all facets of life and death. A hypnotizing and cutting-edge play, a real work of art that is absolutely not to be missed.

Raid dingue
(2016)

A movie I really enjoyed, much to my surprise
With its light humour that makes the corners of your mouth go up regularly and well in balance with the action an intervention group is confronted with, Raid Dingue positively surprised me. It is a very pleasant movie one can enjoy alone or with family. Of course, there was nothing too fancy about it (although the explosions near the ending did lighten up a lot of moods), it is French comedy cinema. But all in all, Raid Dingue, is a very nice movie that I really enjoyed, much to my surprise.

The Great Wall
(2016)

Mostly costumes, but very nice costumes.
The Great Wall really likes big establishing shots with a lot of extras and a lot of colors. After a while they become repetitive, but they are mostly still impressive. One of the most important things that really kept this movie alive were the costumes. You never get tired of seeing armors appear on scree and spot a few new details. Also the big contrast between the colorful Chinese and the gray and brown Europeans were a very nice touch. Overall the story was not very impressive, but the costumes and great cinematography really made up for it.

The BFG
(2016)

A pleasure for the eye and the soul
A beautiful tale brought to life by Spielberg. A fascinating universe makes up for the simplicity of the story (which can be forgiven since it's a children's book). Dahl's original story is beautifully retold on screen. The jokes and good ending most certainly make it an amazing, enjoyable family movie that is a pleasure for both the eye and the soul.

The Devils
(1971)

Shocking, morbid, and a lesson to any cinema lover
A shocking, morbid story that approaches Satanism and corruption from a new perspective. Even though the debated subject is an interesting one, some people might prove too sensitive for these kind of movies, me being one of them. Not a very enjoyable movie when it comes to plot, but the cinematography is a lesson to any cinema lover.
