Creepshow
(1982)

A Masterpiece of terror
I'm still to this day not sure if this is more of a comedy or a horror movie. Either way this is a great film that needs to be in the record books. This movie not only shows the creative side of both King and Romero but it also displays a thrilling horror movie in 5 fun ways. I thought that the best story was that of Stephen King himself was a character. It was also very exciting to see Leslie Neilson as a bad guy. He usually plays in comedy's or spoofs. But this was a delight to see some of his earlier stuff as well. This is definitely a movie to check out and buy. I think its only like 5 bucks at target or something. But if your looking for a scary movie that isn't filled with pornography, shotty story lines, lousy actors, or just blood and gore effect than you need to check this one out.

Poltergeist
(1982)

Ghosts are real
When one of my friends first told me about this 1982 "Scary" movie i really didn't know what to think. Movies with ghost usually are not very scary because of that fact that nowadays all they do is jump out at you and startle you once and you can never see it again because you know its coming. But with Poltergeist i mean Jesus. That is some scary ish. Even though Spielberg didn't directly direct this movie i feel that his expertize and style of filming did not go un-used. I think the cinematography in this movie is amazing. The minor characters just add to the already great cast. The fact that you never actually "see" the ghosts makes it all the better. I believe this movie is definitely one of the best thrillers of all time.

Garfield and Friends
(1988)

Garfield and his crazy adventures
This cartoon is one of my favorites. Not only because of the smart, hungry, talking cat but because of the wide array of secondary characters. I love the fact that it practically parallels the comic. I don't really know how Orson's Farm came about, but i really don't care because it is funny. The good thing about Garfield is that not only is it a great kids show because it ends with a moral or value being taught but it is also ideal for teens due to the fact that his comics are what we grew up with. I love Garfield because he is a teen icon. He eats when he wants, sleeps when he wants and if anybody gives him lip about it he'll let you know.

Stand by Me
(1986)

Four boys go on a quest to find not only a dead body the true meaning of friendship and reality.
Hands down this is my favorite movie. (With the Sandlot in second place). My mom got this movie for me when i was about 12. I saw it the first time and realized that i had friends like that. The movie is definitely one every teenage kid should see. I think it is more of a movie for boys but girls can get out of it the same as the boys can. But the movie overall is great because its just about a four friends who have no experience with the "real world". They find out about a dead body and go in search to find it. At first they just do it to be famous and get a reward. But the quest of the boys throughout the movie reveal things that even themselves didn't know about. After it all, the boys find out about reality, and how it isn't glamorous. They realize that the body could of been them and they respect that. In my opinion the point of the movie was not to have you think of when you were 12 and your good friends but to think of what you have now, and what you do with it. In the end Gordie tells us what happens to each and how each kind of go their separate ways. (Such as the last scene of the movie). This is definitely a movie to not only rent but buy. I tip my hat to Reiner.

The Terror
(1963)

Jack is a military man in napoleons army who lands on a beach and finds a girl and he falls in love and she tries to lead him to death and just watch the rest.
I bought a pack of these old movies at Best Buy for like 8 dollars. I think this movie for the time it was at was really good. It was directed well. The castle was amazing, i believe they filmed it on location. But for the most part Jack does a good job and with a bunch of minor characters who play really well. The actual place where they filmed this is also a beautiful place with a nice beach and such. The twist is a good one, because it not like movies now a days where the twist is so far from everything that it is unguessable, but this twist makes sense. All and all a definitely good movie to watch if you cant sleep at 2 in the morning.
