Wonka
(2023)

So good it's ridiculous...
Strike that. Reverse it.

This version of Wonka really leans into the fantastic element of Dahl's story and doubles down on the musical angle... and in works! The costumes are great (I predict at least a nomination in that category). And as for the comedy, there were definitely some laugh out loud moments; especially when it came to the villains and Hugh Grant's Oompa Loompa character. And the ancillary characters were still able to hold their own. Finally, and I write this understanding the gravity, Chalamet as Wonka rivals, and might even surpass, both Depp's and Wilder's versions... but, let's face it, every version was amazing in its own right.

Murderville
(2022)

Triple threat!!!
Will Arnett and company do an outstanding job with both the main storyline and subplot. The improv by the celebs is entertaining in its own right. And trying to solve the murder is the cherry on top of it all. Overall, a unique format and pretty entertaining.

The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger
(2022)
Episode 6, Season 1

"There is no place in the galaxy more safe than here with Luke"
Well we know that quote from Ahsoka Tano won't age well . . .

Despite the cringeworthy foreshadowing, this episode did a great job of hyping up the season finale! Besides having Ahsoka, Grogu, and Luke in it, the live action Cad Bane looked awesome and Timothy Olyphant's portrayal of Cobb Vanth makes him my favorite ancillary Star Wars character.

It's kind of telling that the last two BoBF episodes have been the best ones and they've barely featured Boba Fett. Oh well- I'm here for it regardless.

The Estate
(2020)

Weird effing ending
What can I say... I was pretty high but I really liked this movie. The twists were entertainingly shocking and the characters were gripping; especially Eliza Coupe's portrayal which was devilishly hilarious. It kind of reminded me of a modern version of Weekend At Bernie's now that I think about it... over the top antics with a dark underbelly.

The Unwonted Sasquatch
(2016)

I'm now a 25% believer . . .
Up from 10%.

A great deep dive into the potential anatomy, the Patterson-Gimlin and other film/sound recordings, and the phenomenon of Sasquatch in general.

Disclaimer: I want to believe!

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins
(2021)

They didn't do justice to my favorite Joe...
This movie might have been cooler if they incorporated Snake Eyes's vow of silence. Instead they made the character so arrogant and otherwise undeveloped that the character couldn't have become the one we know; pretty much the opposite of the point of an origin story. This movie actually made Storm Shadow the better character but his arc was still rushed almost as badly as Daenerys's was in Game of Thrones. I really wanted to like this one more than I did.

The Tomorrow War
(2021)

Throw it all in there...
Take the alien beasts from A Quiet Place, time traveling from Looper, endless ammo from the Matrix, a science cure from World War Z, a father-daughter dynamic from Gifted, comedic relief from Lethal Weapon, the alien technology from Predator... and you have 2 hours of easily forgettable but decent entertainment.

Loki: The Variant
(2021)
Episode 2, Season 1

Much better than episode 1
Took me 2 attempts to get through episode 1 because I fell asleep the first time but episode 2 was so much better; specifically with humor and plot development. I'm actually looking forward to the next episode this week!

I Care a Lot
(2020)

Peter Dinklage is the only reason this gets any stars...
There were no protagonists in the film which would be fine if the story was written to allow that dynamic. But no, the most unlikable character is able to constantly get away with unbelievable feats and even cheat death before somehow pulling off an even more ridiculous get even scheme. The underlying plot had promise and Peter Dinklage delivers another great performance but other than that this is an easy movie to skip unless you have literally nothing else to watch or do.

Imposters
(2017)

Worth the plot holes
The writing is fun and characters are likable enough to look past the plethora of plot holes such as why the FBI didn't know who the former victims are yet were already building a case. Overall a really enjoyable series through season one.

WandaVision: Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience
(2021)
Episode 1, Season 1

What in Odin's beard did I just watch?
I get that they're going for the whole I Love Lucy meets Bewitched kinda throwback vibe but it falls flat. I'd rather watch Black Widow and Hawkeye do a duet on American Idol than the rest of this failed Marvel experiment.

Also, the laugh track was annoying AF.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

Wonder Woman Deserved Better!
The cast did what they could but the Director was too terrible a force to overcome. What a tremendous waste all around.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 16: The Rescue
(2020)
Episode 8, Season 2

May the closure be with you!
I did not expect that kind of resolution at the end of second season. There wasn't even an agonizing cliffhanger if you don't count the post-credits scene. This episode was truly a pleasant surprise from an already amazing series.

The first two seasons of The Mandalorian have been epic; a true homage to the original trilogy.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 15: The Believer
(2020)
Episode 7, Season 2

Let's just say they might recognize my face...
Another great episode! Bill Burr was even better in this one than he was in Chapter 6 and it was a nice setup for the season 2 finale.

The Doorman
(2020)

Dude, Where's My Script?
This movie is basically Die Hard if the writers, director, and editor were all drunk. And I don't care how low budget your movie is, you should still sport for a military consultant/choreographer in your action film about a ex-military hero.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 13: The Jedi
(2020)
Episode 5, Season 2

Most exciting Mandalorian episode yet!
Rosario Dawson does an excellent job portraying a Jedi.

Michael Beihn still has that Johnny Ringo vibe going on.

The main storyline finally gains some momentum.

And light sabers!

Patient Zero
(2018)

I don't understand...
Stanley Tucci must've done this movie as a favor for someone because that's the only explanation I can think of for an actor of his caliber to have done this subpar movie 🤔🤷‍♂️

Delirium
(2018)

Warning for fellow potheads...
While a riveting suspense/thriller for the sober movie watcher, I do not recommend watching whilst high; it really made for a bad trip.

The Boys: What I Know
(2020)
Episode 8, Season 2

Best season finale ever... for any show... ever.
The title is my review. I'm high.

Now it's saying my review is too short to post.
