The Death of Dick Long
(2019)

Painfully irritating drama
The description classes this movie to have crime, comedy and drama. If you want to watch crime you'd be better off watching a Judge Judy episode and I'm saying that in a sense that I don't like Judge Judy. The only comedy you'll find is "smirking" at how dumb the main actors must be to the point that makes you wonder how they can afford cars and be in relationships. The overwhelming amount of drama relating to the crimes committed is undeserved.

If you want to see "weird" like many of my fellow reviewers are classing this movie as, be prepared to waste your time because it's not weird, it's just plain stupid. I couldn't imagine reading the script and thinking I want my name to be a part of this. I would take the job but wouldn't tell my friends about it. The acting was good. After seeing the ending you'll know the script is illogical in so many aspects.

Budget was adequate but after seeing the trailer you'll believe it's an absolute anti-climax and a slow burning drama. The first 15 minutes hooked me in but it started to go downhill from there and didn't seem to stop. The ending is dreadful and the only feeling it invoked in me was "I expected more but thank god that's over".

Watch the trailer and run.

The Prey
(2018)

Failed to connect
I watched this movie with English subtitles. After seeing the trailer I was hoping it would be as touching as the 1994 movie "Surviving the Game" with Gary Busey in it, which I loved. The story was a little different but same sort of scenario in which people are hunted as sport for money.

I believe it could have worked with a much higher budget but would still generate a mild response from the majority of viewers. Several of the actors let it down, especially the main villain.

The ending was a bit of a let down and made me think of stirring spaghetti bolognese where I was trying to keep up with the focus of the story and who was dying. I guess reading subtitles takes away from appreciating it a bit too. Not being a real fan of martial arts I would have to say didn't help my rating.

I see this movie generating a more positive response from young viewers.

Prey
(2019)

Total Garbage
I'm 35 at the moment. This was definitely a suspenseful movie for me. The suspense was there but nothing ever happened. The ending is a disgrace to film making worldwide. Whoever wrote this should spend the rest of their life on a small island eating just coconuts and cooking fish on fires lit with a magnifying glass. Avoid at all cost.

Itsy Bitsy
(2019)

A horror for arachnophobes
If you're not afraid of spiders, this movie will probably not be scary at all to you. I'm an avid fan of horrors and have become desensitized over the years but always looking for something different and always looking for gore. For me this movie really could have been made as a short. There is nothing horror about the first hour of this movie. I was settling on 4 stars until I saw the last 20 minutes and it made up for the bore the first hour gave me.

Haebing
(2017)

Interesting, compelling yet thought provoking
Firstly I'd have to say if you like the trailer you will get something completely different. I watched this film thinking it was going to be something a little like the Hannibal series with a some cannibalism and quite a bit of blood and gore with a touch of Hannibal's class, I was dead wrong. There are twists in this film where they show you one thing and then confuse you by showing you what really happened a bit later on, this goes on throughout the movie almost right up to the end. By thought provoking I mean even 15 minutes before the ending I was still quite confused. The main drawback of Bluebeard is that it's almost 2 hours long with confusing twists but I stuck to my guns and really wanted to see the ending. I'd give Bluebeard a 6.5 but I lent towards the 7 because it has quality you'd maybe see in a film once a year. I would have given it a solid 8 out of 10 if it was half an hour shorter and wasn't as confusing as they made it. The ending is good I must say, if you have a couple hours of spare time it's worth the watch. I'll probably watch Bluebeard again in a few years, would be interesting what I think of it the second time around after seeing the "true" ending.

The Surface
(2014)

Like watching a candle burn
Definitely not a thriller as claimed.

The description mentions that they are stuck in "unpredictable waters" and the DVD cover looks like the movie might be a little exciting... as far as rough winds, waves or heavy rain goes there is absolutely none of that, it's just 2 losers in a boat talking about how pathetic their lives are. Half way through the film you start to feel like you don't even care if they get rescued or die. I was hoping towards the end a rogue wave would hit the boat and they'd both head-butt each other knocking each other out and drowning. One of the worst movies I've seen this year.

Definitely a movie to avoid unless you're under the age of 10.

Soldiers of the Damned
(2015)

Made me want to punch someone in the face
I got suckered into watching this movie because I'm a huge fan of history, the DVD cover looked really cool and it had a promising name for a title. I was hoping it would be something like the movie "Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead" which is unquestionably a masterpiece compared to this.

There are so many flaws in Soldiers of the Damned that thinking about the specifics hurts my brain.

By the end of the movie for the first time ever I just froze staring at the entire credits daydreaming wondering how the hell someone could make such garbage. While staring blankly at the credits I noticed there were 3 assistant directors, this is probably where the movie really failed. I can't possibly imagine why there would need to be a total of 4 directors when basically the entire movie was about 5 people in the forest.

There were only 2 decent actors in the entire movie and I REALLY felt sorry for them.

I don't know how a few members of IMDb reviewed this movie with a 9 or above praising everything about it. All I can say is they were probably on drugs when they watched it or had something to do with the movie.

I would rather go to work for an entire week without pay than watch this again.

Panzehir
(2014)

A foreign hit-man movie with substance
I've seen countless movies about a assassins in my time and this is definitely on par with the best. Never before have I seen a movie produced in Turkey and after seeing this I have a high degree of respect for Turkish cinema.

The great thing about the execution of this film is it's character building and no need for an overdose of special effects.

The cast was excellent and surely had this been an amateur director and/or producer this would have turned out very badly.

The substance very much reminds me of another assassin movie "Léon: The Professional".

Well done Turkey for this exceptional feature film.
