Earth Girls Are Easy
(1988)

Fun, sexy 80's musical that should have been mentioned alongside "Rocky Horror"
Never really got "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", even though I love Tim C. Love the cinematography and set design of "Earth girls". I can't believe I didn't know this movie exists . Highly recommended as long for a light popcorn watching, summer movie.

Dracula Untold
(2014)

Problems with script & continuity, but didn't suffer watching from start to finish
The acting felt a little stiff to me, and the movie had many issues with what a "lord vampire" can and can't do (script & continuity). Still, it wasn't a movie so bad that I realize 30 minutes in I'm not having fun. Watching it, it was clear to me this would not get a sequel or a high score with critics & audiences.

The Lion King
(2019)

Do yourself a favour & watch the 1994 version instead.
Dialogues were changed to become more shallow & simple (for example word plays were taken out). The live action animation is too lack of expression - that it simply can't do well with the voice acting (& I'm speaking even without comparing it to the 94 version). The hardest thing for me was the music downgrade: Yes, they went with more heavy, accented vocals than music (a positive thing), but they used it all wrong (for example using an iconic theme in a different scene or out of sync with whats goes onscreen). There were other changes I was onboard with, and though they were a refreshing take- but it doesn't saves this movie from being a complete grey yawn.

Good Omens
(2019)

Pure bliss, so goofy and FUN
Both Michael Sheen & David Tennant are superb. The show might be too goofy to some (that's a negative side people might mention), but I absolutely LOVED it . Never was a Tennant or Sheen or Terry Pratchett fan-until now (I like Neil Gaiman's stuff). Show ends with wrapping of the story (set to be 6 eps from the get go).

The Rookie
(2018)

Once you get over the pilot it's about 5.5- 6 out of 10
The pilot way heavy on the cliches & stereotypes ("he's old" joke every 2 minutes, sometimes less). It's a recurring motif throw out the series. ABC played it safe casting Fillion as lead, if you are a Fillion fan you will most likely be watching. I was never a fan of his, so his presents it somewhat distracting, it would have been more entertaining to see a fresh face, an unknown actor in 40-50's for this. But here is the weird part: Fillion fans don't like it because he "deserved better" (come on people, he can't play the 35-ish charmer anymore) and as far as I concern- it's a decent casting for his age (being playful with the age issue). BUT- Fillion looks bloated. Too much nip and tucked, yes, Fillion is skinny again (he got fatter as Castle progressed) but looks bad.

The show itself has decent action scenes but many plot holes or unbelievable things in it. There isn't much currently on TV that I like (The rookie comes on ABC's Forever time slot- now that was an unjustified cancellation!), this show is O.K-ish. Will I be watching an episode every week? no. Maybe keep track of it every couple of weeks.

Lucifer
(2016)

Season 2+3 weren't as good as 1st- hoping for a decent closer
As much as Lucifer was fun, I gave season 2 benefit of doubt and season 3 was only O.K-ish (still better than what's on air) . If this show gets picked up, I hope it will be for a TV to resolve things for the fans- because I don't thing it can hold another season. If you love shows with sardonic, sometimes dark humor, and a bit of moral at the end about what it means to be human (reminds me of Dexter a bit)- you will like this.

Downsizing
(2017)

Deeper & pretty entertaining- more than expected
This is a pretty long movie (a bit more than 2 hours), first 45 minuts is what you see according to the trailer- the rest is something else. But what I liked that either way, neither parts were not too "heavy" to watch. IMDB score is currently 5.7 - and I gave it a 7.

Bancroft
(2017)

So far I've only seen the pilot- but I liked it a lot
It's very dark, there are a lot of hints and clues about the characters inner attributes as oppose to saying everything 'flat out'. Also pretty realistic, you see a woman in a certain age played by a woman of that age, which is very different from American TV (well, I guess most France and British productions do that, but it's still wonderful). So far I watched the pilot- but I hope they'll make a second season out of this.

Victoria & Abdul
(2017)

I'm disappointed because I expected more from this movie.
Mainly for two reasons: 1) There were a few scenes (dialogue level) in which Abdul told the queen "half truths", or let the queen assume things (Victoria referred to those things while talking to him) without correcting her. Also, a few scenes Abdul had with another Hindo named Mohammed discussing the British people. 2) The romantic tinge being hinted over and over again.

And there are a few more things, but mentioning those might be spoilers.

Was Abdul a good guy? - OR was he an opportunist taking advantage of an old lady and the British people who took over India? I do believe he cared for her on some level, but that's the question I am going to take from this movie.

Century City
(2004)

Cheesy as F*- probably on purpose- they had guts trying to air this
This show presented the cheesiest form when saying "futuristic" (made in early 2000's & meant to imitate 30-40 years forwards). I think the creators did it on purpose- so if you put that "out of the way" you can focus on the stories. Each episode have 1-2-3 stories with a moral wacky problem.

I doubt TV today will dare to make something like this, show was probably taken down after religious outcry, or people just didn't get it .

The Good Doctor
(2017)

It's fun as House MD
I'm not a fan of Freddie Highmore, but since I didn't watch Bates Motel I can enjoy this current show pretty easily. It feels like house, even the opening theme is almost identical (credits and music). Another hospital show where the main character blurts out what people try to avoid or hide.

Exactly like house - in a good sense (same creator too I think).

Kevin (Probably) Saves the World
(2017)

Only interesting thing is Jason Ritter & that's not enough
ABC needs to learn that having an interesting actor for lead cannot "hold" an entire show... Show throw me back to "Joan from Arcadia" (where Ritter played the brother) or "Eli Stone" for obvious reason.

Would love to see Jason Ritter in other comic (or not) roles, but this show felt 'meh' to me. Not saying it won't get better, but first couple of episodes were weak.

Inhumans
(2017)

Seriously, watch it yourself & make up your mind (decent)
Watching the first 2 episodes I gave it a 7 - and asked you to watch it yourself & not listen to the bad reviews online.

I'm now pulling my 7 - and replacing it with a 5. This show has a few decent dialogue scenes, but most of them are plain stupid, as in reason wise stupid.

The Orville
(2017)

Lightweight fun
For me it's going to be one of the shows I'll catch up every week or two, not eagerly wait for next episode (maybe it's the format?).

Never watched any Seth Macfarlane's show so this is first for me. Scifi that creaks a poop level joke occasionally (not to often).

Beam me up Seth.

Midnight, Texas
(2017)

I'll be O.K if this show gets a second season or canceled swiftly.
Will be fine with it Either way.

Interesting concept, very plain execution & feel to it. Set design seem to be well thought of- but that's pretty much it. This show is also by NBC, came to replace the ended Grimm (supernatural drama show) - but lack the same spark overall. Can't say I like the casting much.

I'll probably watch the next episodes as the series continue, but only because it's current and there isn't few seasons to catch up on (otherwise I wouldn't give it my time of day...).

P.S- Was hoping NBC get the rights to Forever as a replacement for Grimm.

Time After Time
(2017)

Really bad, surprised main network released it as is
Look, first of all, let me say I am biased- I was (and still) one of those people who are heartbroken over the decision to cancel "Forever" (Which is what Time After Time meant to replace- having ABC owning the rights to the show, instead of WB).

That been said:

I didn't like the casting- specifically Freddie Stroma (I don't know if the actor isn't good or it's the casting).

The female lead (H G's love interest) is absurd- and its not about the actress: without going into details, scenes where she was there & a normal person would talk/move/react to events are not happening. She's there to highlight HG- in the most chauvinist stupid way. Her character is just inferior "Disney princes s" like .

There were some editing, script holes, and clean up that should be made before setting the show off- that's what I really didn't expect, ABC knows how to make good shows- they just didn't make many good ones recently. The City of New York looks beautiful, good camera work, but some goofs in editing.

I am going to watch the movies and Forever's 22 episodes- all are better then this.

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders
(2016)

I might continue to watch because of Annie Funke
Finally there's someone who is not a stick figure, or overly obese, or staying behind supporting active cast via computer :-)

Happy to see Alana De La Garza again, though for me it makes me miss Forever too much ... ( #SaveForever )

Gary Sinise, I love that guy too- but the entire show felt like an elaborate CSI NY episode, the aspect of foreign countries and languages is nice - but not enough to "hold" a show. I will give it another try, because I love the genre and the actors, didn't knew Annie Funke and she is an appealing characters to woman wherever.

I'm still hoping networks might pick up Forever for a second season, maybe CBS who are producing this show (Alana is already affiliated with them) or ABC with their new boss and the recent... om... cancellations.

Forever
(2014)

Forever is such a fun show!
Forever is one of those rarities you watch the pilot- and get hooked instantly.

The flashbacks, the romance, the history - I was absolutely gutted to hear ABC cancelled it -and all because of politics! (Warner Bros own the rights and it wasn't an "indoor" production).

Only 22 episodes in existence, I still hope Warner (and the rest of TV networks) pull their stuff together and #BringBackForever #SaveForever , somehow, on any network.... Netflix or ABC (now with their new boss)... I'm still hoping for a season 2.

ABC actually have a shot making TV history : Cancelled shows got picked up by other networks before - but never did a network listen to social media and undo cancellation mistake. Want to prove yourself relevant in 2016 ABC? SAVE FOREVER !
