Dolphin Tale
(2011)

One of the Best Movies Ever
I was leery about watching this movie because, as a general rule, I don't watch animal movies (I get sick of them being abused and/or dying). However, this movie was superb. Winter being hurt was not overly graphic and the scene was relatively short. This movie is a powerful reminder that, even though the world is very messed up, there is great reason for hope. There is still goodness in the world, and people that will stand up for what's right. The staff of the rescue facility only saw Winter, and only wanted to help her, but she has been an inspiration to thousands, if not millions. Well worth the watch, and I would not hesitate to let my daughter see it.

Dadnapped
(2008)

What Were They Thinking????
Wow. Okay, I'm a huge Disney Channel fan, have been for more than 15 years, but this movie was just . . . wow. What exactly were they trying to accomplish here? Read It and Weep was basically a flop, so what do they do? They make another movie about a schizophrenic girl who talks to an imaginary literary character. The only difference is that this time, the girl's dad created the character. As if the movie itself wasn't boring enough (and totally lacking any basis for the relationships) it was actually painful to watch Melissa talk to an imaginary person over and over, being very aware the whole time that she's NUTS. And what's up with her dad saying she IS Trip Zoome? He told her before she was boring and NOT in his books. Now she's the main character? Yeah, that's a cop out. Don't waste your time. The only reason I didn't give this a 1 is because there is enough money in the world to make me watch it again, but not to like it.

Aaron Stone
(2009)

Aaron Stone's a Stud
The more I see of this show, the more I like it. I expected it to be quite cheesy, but it's not. The fight sequences are top-of-the-line (and some of the bad guys are really hot). This makes me think of an adult's action show without all the swearing, nudity, etc. It rocks! I'm so addicted to it that I'm seriously considering recording all of the episodes onto tape, and I never want to do that until I'm 3 or 4 seasons into a show. This show isn't a comedy, which is what Disney Channel excels at, but it is still really well done. Frankly, I'm still sitting here with my mouth open, I'm so surprised. I mean, come on, a Disney Channel drama? Yet somehow, it works.

Sonny with a Chance
(2009)

Sonny Rocks!
I'm a huge Disney Channel fan, so I expected Sonny with a Chance to be funny, but not this funny! This show is absolutely fabulous--even my husband watches it! I find myself laughing out loud frequently during every episode. The whole rivalry between the two shows is hilarious--the different characters are so over-the-top that it makes me smile. This is the best show Disney Channel has brought out since Hannah Montana. On the plus side, Sonny isn't overly sassy like some of the Disney Channel characters (Hannah/Miley isn't always respectful to those around her, though I still like the show). The skits from So Random are hilarious, too (I especially liked the Poo-merang).

Elizabethtown
(2005)

Boring and Psycho
This movie was a total disappointment. Not only was it dull with long scenes of little importance, but it made Orlando Bloom not even attractive (I didn't even think that was possible!). When he strapped the knife to the exercise bike, I wanted to turn the movie off (after 10 minutes--that's pretty sad). What a dumb character. And was it really necessary for the female lead to dress like such a vapid slut? I really liked Kirsten's character in the beginning, but then she turned from sweet, helpful hometown girl to a lush not afraid of sharing too much skin. Don't waste your time watching this--you'll want your two hours back. Bizarre to say the least (mom tap dancing at funeral and everyone applauding? whatever)

High School Musical
(2006)

Superior Performance
I expected the movie to be good, but it's great! Each of the actors did a superb job bringing his or her character to life. The choreography was brilliant, the songs beautiful. I thought the male lead would be disappointing, but he wasn't in the least. This has to be one of the best DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movies) made yet, if not the best. Watch it! You won't be disappointed! It should be made into a real stage musical. The plot line was engaging. Very much a feel good movie. I appreciated how clean it was, with no swear words or immodest clothing. Most of the time I get sick of watching all the promo stuff on Disney, but not with this movie.
