The Time Traveler's Wife: Episode #1.6
(2022)
Episode 6, Season 1

A shame this was cancelled
It's a real shame this was cancelled.

Having read the book I think this was a much better adaptation than the film and would really like to have seen the rest of the story play out.

Little Alba and the possibilities with her character plus the possibility of a sequel to the original book could have kept these going for many seasons.

Great acting & writing, what's not to like?

With some of the rubbish that keeps being renewed it really makes you wonder who is making these decisions to cancel good shows & how they ever got to their positions of power!

It's not too late for them to change their minds & renew!

Hawkeye
(2021)

Disney does Die Hard
Middle aged American good guy. Standing up to European villains in order to save everyone & get home to his family for Christmas.

Very familiar story! It was ok, over long. Became a different story when the black widows sister turned up, struggled to see the connection between that and what was already happening in the story. It was like the writers just wanted to squeeze everything in!

Also wasn't sure of the whole 'leave your family at Christmas to hang around with an early 20's girl alone in her apartment' element to the story. His wife is very trusting & understanding!

The Tourist
(2022)

Entertaining!
Firstly I don't understand why people write reviews of a series when they haven't seen or have 'no intention of watching' every episode.

The Tourist gets better as the story unfolds. I thought all of the characters were great & I didn't spot the 'bad acting' some other reviewers have mentioned.

Yes it does remind me a bit of Fargo but I thought Fargo was fantastic so I don't see the problem there!

I thought Helen was a lovely endearing character and her fiancé, well, he so deserved it when she finally told him what she really thought, she was way too good for him!

The end was a twist I didn't see coming, I thought the woman would be his sister or perhaps mother especially when she first showed the scar I wonder if the character thought so too.

Giving the money to Sue was a great touch - she was kind and deserved it.

Anyway, ignore the bad reviews, this was thoroughly entertaining, great story telling & well worth a binge watch!

You: Swing and a Miss
(2021)
Episode 8, Season 3

Joe is an idiot & a coward.
It's getting a bit boring & predictable now. The voice overs make me cringe.

Joe gets obsessed, he can't be happy with what he's got, the grass is always greener. Obviously if he ends up with Marianne he will get bored of her too and find someone else to obsess on. Love is a way more interesting character & they're definitely better suited!

I feel sorry for Love, she's the only likeable character!

She just wants a family and a husband who loves her & doesn't cheat on her. Not exactly too much to ask! He knows what she's like (murderous) yet keeps starving her of affection, being a cheat and is then surprised when she reacts negatively to this! Joe needs to leave her and stop treating her like she's the idiot when she is actually way more intelligent than him! At least then she can find someone else to be happy with. Probably not the neighbour kid who is too young but at least he is genuine in his affections!

I want to watch to the end of the season because I don't like leaving things unfinished.

Death to 2020
(2020)

Hilarious!
I loved this and laughed all the way through. Fantastic performances, Hugh Grant & Lisa Kudrow especially made me laugh.

* just to add me and my husband both work in the nhs, we have 3 school aged kids & we lost a much loved family member in 2020 too.

Laughter helps get us through!

White Lines
(2020)

10/10 for the music
The music is fantastic, brings back so many memories. Loved the use of an old lesser known Verve song. Brilliant. The plot is ok. Very slow going, could have been 5 episodes instead of 10. Some good performances save it all. Worth a watch if you want to reminisce.

The Witches
(1990)

A classic
I've always loved this film and the book. Angelica Huston is just amazing as the Grand High Witch, she is exactly as I always imagined the character. I see they're making a new version and look forward to that as I know this version changed the ending from the book so I wonder how they'll deal with it in the new version, hopefully stick with the book otherwise there's no reason for remaking at all! I'm struggling to understand why this version has such a low rating as it's a fantastic film, I loved it and now my kids do too! It's ok for kids and adults to both enjoy a film, I don't understand the confusion of some reviewers 'who is it for?' Well why does that matter?! It's a great story, enjoy it!

Outlander: Dragonfly in Amber
(2016)
Episode 13, Season 2

Perfect storytelling
This is the third time I've watched this episode and it still makes me emotional. I've read all of the books and now watching the series for the third time. I love their love story. This episode is fantastic with the glimpses of different times, piecing together the story over the years. I would recommended the series and the books to anyone.

Apocalypto
(2006)

Should have won Oscars
I'm watching this for the fourth time since it came out and thought I'd look on IMDB to read up on it. I'm so surprised it doesn't have a higher rating and I can't believe it didn't win more awards. What a fantastic film! It transports you to another world. The story is gripping and the exacting is too rare. I'm sure that I'll watch it again in a few more years and think the same. The scene where she gives birth in the cave is just breath taking. Well done to all involved. Definitely deserving of a lot more recognition!

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
(2019)

Fantastic cast and director
Brilliant, funny, violent, just what I expected! The bond between Leo and Brad's characters was just perfect. Both actors are cast to perfection here and well deserved Oscar for Cliff Booth, what a brilliant character he is and if only he'd really existed for the Inglorious style twist. A really poignant ending, hopefully the families gave the ok. Margot Robbie was fantastic, I loved the cinema scene with the real Sharon Tate on screen. Well done all.

La La Land
(2016)

Put love first!
I don't usually like musicals but I couldn't stop watching this! The leads have great chemistry ok Emma isn't the greatest dancer but there's nothing bad their either. No need for the criticism, as an actress she is fantastic!

The end just left me feeling really downbeat which isn't what I expected. Don't choose career over love is my take away message. He could and should have gone to Paris with her! Ok he got his jazz club but he seemed sad and lonely with it. Her fantasy at the end and the different body language between the leads and then with her husband shows to me that they both made a big mistake. Sad.

Santa Clarita Diet
(2017)

Please don't cancel!
No!!!!!! At least make a one off feature length episode to finish the story off. This is such a hilarious, brilliantly over acted, easy to watch show. One of my favourites on Netflix. Much better than a lot of the other rubbish that seems to get automatically renewed, please don't leave us on such a cliff hanger!!

Dracula
(2020)

First episode was 10/10 such a waste of potential
Sister Agatha has got to be one of my favourite ever TV characters and the first episode was fantastic! Really clever dialogue and a really interesting take on the legend. Second episode not as good but I thought 'stick with it' mainly because the first episode was so good and Dolly Wells deserves awards for bringing Sister Agatha to life! Third episode, just no! Everything changed and not in a good way. Pointless characters take centre stage that I had absolutely no interest in, I don't care who Lucy marries or why. I got a bit confused during the as I thought maybe I'd accidentally turned The channel over to hollyoaks or similar without realising! I watched the third episode to find out about Sister Agatha - the best character - apparently abandoned. She was undead - hinted with the nails being lost, she could have washed up on the shore just as Jonathan did in episode 1 and maybe become a vampire herself but in true Van Helsing style a vampire who hunts others. Good that they brought Agatha back in the end through the niece drinking Draculas' blood so at least we got to hear more from her. I still don't understand how Lucy connected with it all, I thought maybe a descendent of Mina but no just a random girl with possible mental health issues, (no fear of death) but she could have been anyone and I wasn't at all sympathetic. N I also don't understand at the end when Dracula has everything he's wanted, considering that he's an evil, centuries old villain and now able to bathe in the sunlight- why would he suddenly decide to die with Zoe/Agatha. He admired her intelligence but there wasn't a hint of 'love' before. All in all a very strange end to something that started out so well!

13 Reasons Why
(2017)

Ani...reasons why???
Ani makes me feel like we accidentally turned on audio description & can't turn it off.

The first series was exceptional and I did enjoy season 2 despite the Hannah visions. Season 3 though...... How is this new girl trusted by everyone? How did she become so close to Clay so quickly? Why is Hannah barely mentioned? The tapes were released publicly she could easily have listened to them. She is obviously ridiculously interested in the group so it makes no sense that she wouldn't listen to the tapes!

I do think the whole storyline for series 3 would have been great without the awful commentary from Ani. It's just completely unnecessary! It makes sense that Bryce could be killed but we are so connected to the other characters that they would have been able to explore this story without the need of Ani! Nothing against the actress, she does a good job with what is written. It's the whole part that is just completely unnecessary & highly irritating.

I am English, so it's not the accent that grates on me. It's the personality of the character. It's making it very hard for me to keep watching! I have watched series 1 & 2 a few times each. The music & the intertwining stories were great but I will never be able to watch this series again. I want to press mute whenever she speaks!

Orange Is the New Black: God Bless America
(2019)
Episode 11, Season 7

So important
Well done for highlighting the horror & injustice happening in America today under ICE. Amazing writing, sad, emotional, dramatic and still funny in parts. I've watched Orange is the New Black since it's debut and I am so pleased to see it is really going to end on a high.
