Spider-Man 3
(2007)

I just came back from the theater, and I WILL defend Spider-Man 3 against all of those who had this one common criticism about the movie...
I'll try to write a comment as briefly as I could, and I'll start off by saying that I had such high expectations for the third sequel of Spider-Man. And one lesson I learned is to never expect too much from "things." Don't get me wrong, Spider-Man 3 was a great film, but it had too many flaws. A lot of the dialog was a little...cheesy, or should I say, corny. But I guess that's something we should probably expect from a comic-based Spiderman movie. Another thing, is that I didn't get that sense of spidy impression I got from the first two, which I really loved. The impression and mood I got from the third sequel was a little...twisted? But it could be just me.

On the positive side, Spider-Man 3 has some great special effects that had me jumping out of my seat. Another positive note is the movie's plot. I thought its story would be predictable, but it turned out to be full of surprises.

I have read many comments from others criticizing Spider-Man 3 of having too many things going on at the same time. Let me tell you this: THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE THIRD SEQUEL NEEDED. Imagine having to follow up with only one side of the movie's story. In other words, it would be BORING if the movie only centered around one villain or the main character.

People, making a third sequel to a great franchise is not easy! Nevertheless, it was done. How? The movie had all the extra side stories, which tied in maybe a little too perfectly, yet good enough to make the movie interesting and not as boring as it could have been.

So is the movie good? It's great! Is it better than the first two? No! But it definitely did well to hold up as a third sequel!

When a Stranger Calls
(2006)

An Average Horror Film
People nowadays expect too much from films, especially when it comes to horror films. When you mention the word "horror" film, what's the first thing that probably pops into your mind? Probably some scary images full of blood and gore and frightening music. In other words, we expect some scary, concrete(physical) things to look at. But people are forgetting that that's not what horror is all about. There's also emotional and psychological horror, which is just as scary. And that is what "When a Stranger Calls" is based on, and that is what the audience must realize. Now, from my personal experience, this movie didn't scare me much. So was it good? It was an "allright" film; it wasn't perfect: meaning the plot can be predictable, and the whole idea of the film was simple (A girl keeps getting some mysterious phone-calls from a guy with bad intentions.)

So how scary was the film? It honestly depends on the person watching the movie. If you watch the film with a clear and relaxed mind and try to interact with the movie by listening to the spooky background music and give the movie a chance, you will be entertained and get that creepy, spooky, and frightening feeling. After all, the movie is all psychological and it depends on the audience's imagination to scare themselves out. I also must say that the director made an excellent choice of choosing Camilla Belle, for carrying out the film, and who did an excellent performance.

In a word, "When a Stranger Calls" was an average horror film that could have done much better. Nevertheless, it will entertain you if you give the movie the chance and realize that the horror is all in the mind and imagination.

Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
(2004)

Good... but Could Have Been Better
When I saw the trailer for "Anacondas" it really captured me and I couldn't wait to watch the movie. But then when I watched it, I felt something was wrong. The characters in this film did a good performance; the idea of the film was somewhat good, and is simply about a group of scientists who are seeking a rare flower in a jungle full of anacondas. However, the conflict in this film centers mainly around the characters themselves. The scenes between the anacondas and the scientists were good, but were very few. And so, "Anacondas" could have been a much better movie if the struggle and conflict focused more between 'the scientists and the anacondas.' I also must say that the first "Anaconda (1997)" is much better than this one. This is from point of view. If you never watched "Anacondas," watch it... you might like it.

Monsters, Inc.
(2001)

A Cute, Enjoyable Film
"Monsters, Inc" is a lovely family film to watch. The story is basically about a Monster City, in which its power is generated by scaring children. But what's funny about this is that the people of this city, or I should say, the monsters of this city are more afraid of the children than the children are afraid of them. But when a young girl accidentally enters Monster City, the top scarer, Sullivan and his friend Mike start sharing a bond with this girl, or what Sullivan called her, Boo, after realizing that she is no harm to them. The story is somewhat weird, yet hilarious, and is full of laughs. "Monsters, Inc" is a very enjoyable film and is worth watching and owning.

Dinosaur
(2000)

One of Disney's Best!
"Dinosaur" is truly a spectacular computer-animated film that if full of non-stop thrills, action, excitement, and sadness at some times. The script is very well-written and the story was pretty good too. The opening of the film was marvelous and very capturing. And what can I say about the characters? They are beautiful unforgettable dinosaurs that have their own unique personalities, which is one of the things that makes "Dinosaur" a terrific film. This film actually lets you interact with animals that existed 65 million years ago! Also, there are a lot of great climaxes and transitions from one scene to another. The ending of "Dinosaur" was also very marvelous as it lets you see the splendor of the circle of life. "Dinosaur" meets all my standards of a great film and I must say that it is a truly beautiful movie.

Spider-Man
(2002)

A Film that Just Makes You Wanna Jump Out of Your Seat and Start Pretending to be Spider-Man
"Spider-Man" is truly one heck of a movie full of thrills, action, and excitement. The fight scenes in this film were awesome, especially the ones between Spider-Man and Goblin, which were very well done. Moreover, this film has become a dream-come-true to all Spiderman fans who have watched all the Spider-Man cartoon animation and played all the Spider-Man games. I also have to say that the producers made an excellent choice of making Tobey Maguire play Spider-Man, who really did a good job in his performance. "Spider-Man" didn't only entertain me when I first watched it, but it made me learn a very important life-lesson, which is "With great power comes great responsibility." This is something that could be applied to daily life in all aspects. There is no doubt that "Spider-Man" is one successful film, for they produced "Spider-Man 2" and "Spider-Man 3" is currently in production. All in all, "Spider-Man" is a terrific, entertaining film and is truly worth watching.

Tarzan II
(2005)

Way More Better than "Tarzan and Jane"
Disney's "Tarzan II" is a fun family film to watch, and I must say that it is much, much better than "Tarzan and Jane." This sequel centers around Tarzan's childhood, and what he had to go through while seeking his real identity. All the lovely characters are back of course, with other new fun characters. The animation of this film was quite satisfying and the songs by Phil Collins were also lovely. I have to say, however, that this film is mostly for kids but it has some good laughs for adults though . Also, do not expect this sequel to be better than the original "Tarzan" but still, it is a good one compared to other sequels, and is worth watching.

The Lion King
(1994)

The Best Animated Movie Ever!
No amount of words can describe the greatness, the beauty, and the power of "The Lion King." I have first watched this movie when I was 5 years old and it was really fun growing up with this film. "The Lion King" has given me so many wonderful memories and beautiful, indescribable past moods that I can't get bored of this movie, no matter how many times I watch it. "The Lion King" is one of the very few movies that let you experience the power, the thrill, and majesty. With its magnificent animation; lovable and delightful characters; wonderful songs; and emotionally moving and unforgettable story, "The Lion King" is and always will be among the greatest films of all time. Another thing that makes this a spectacular film is the many life-lessons you can learn from it, such as pursuing your responsibilities, and taking your place in the 'Circle of Life,' and the importance and splendor of the father-son relation. "The Lion King" is truly the best animated movie ever!

Shark Tale
(2004)

Deserves a Higher Rating
I just can't understand why "Shark Tale" is so underrated. I have watched this movie about 3 times and yet, I still can't get enough of it. The fact is that the characters were very entertaining, the animation was brilliant, and the story was great and was sending messages along with it, such as accept your destiny, be happy with who you are, accept others for who they are, and you don't have to live "on top of the reef" to be a "somebody." This movie also exposes us to the pop culture. What more does this movie need to to make it a good one? I mean this movie has it all: laughs and everything. Then why is it so underrated? I really don't know. I do know though, that "Shark Tale" is one of the best movie I have ever watched.

Tarzan & Jane
(2002)

Worst Disney Sequel Ever
Disney sequels, generally, aren't always as good as the original movies. There are, however, some very good sequels such as "The Lion King II," "Lady and the Tramp II," and "Toy Story II." But "Tarzan and Jane" is indeed the worst of Disney sequels, where the story was dope, the characters were boring and aren't as lovable as they were in the original movie, the music was awful, and the animation was rubbish. The story was simply about Jane wanting to find an anniversary present for Tarzan, and while doing so in the jungle, she starts remembering the adventures they've had so far. If Disney continues to produce movies like this, it will definitely lose its touch and magic. Disney's "Tarzan," though regained its prestige in "Tarzan II," where they did a good job in it.
