The Fence
(2022)

Enjoyable
I like the idea behind it and the acting was good and believable. Set early 80s i'd assume. It's a comedy drama I reckon and there were some wry touches to make you grin and some good bits of script. The story maybe a bit long winded and there were several sad bits but it moved along well and matched my expectations. I kept watching the film, even though expecting maybe, just a half an hour try out. I'd watch it again and the music tracks are good.... The actors were pretty much unknown to me so there's a certain freshness to the screen which makes a nice change. All in all a good and worthwhile watch.

Ten Pound Poms
(2023)

One episode only for me.
As with the "Disappointed" review. Watched the first episode and yes, far too over the top. Couldn't sync. With any of the characters. Far fetched story. Not for me. Blatant use of all of the negative bits made it non-watchable in future. I've never been to Australia but I am English and I think that unless the story is based on proper facts and memories, there has been far too much licence taken with the script and screenplay. Acting so-so especially the Aussie Foreman bloke. The sequences just weren't a surprise at all. Everything negative just followed on from the last bit. I suppose everything will be "sorted" within 6 episodes! Even Michelle K is only in 4. Pity.

The Booze Cruise
(2003)

Great storyline and good acting.
The blokes are a really mixed bag. Back home, the ladies are also across different social backgrounds. Lots of little avenues off the main road here and they all work. Great little scenarios and twists. Not laugh aloud humour but gives you plenty to grin at and like. Just watched it again. Pity that the Clive character (M Clunes), is not in the 2nd and 3rd editions.

Mindhorn
(2016)

Silly, ott and unbelievable but entertaining.
A film that sags a bit in the middle but some good ideas and some funny lines and twists at the end. Isle of Man shown to good effect. All characters ott but in this day and age that's about right!

Count Arthur Strong
(2013)

Counting Arthur!
Adds to and builds on the incredibly funny radio series written and conceived by Steve Delaney and follows on in a different setting. A great character who gets in to some silly situations with his not listening to anybody else and always being right. Excellent support acting. Visually simple scenarios give a good laugh. SD is excellent live and on the radio and good all through the series. The episode with the con man stands out as best.

Maltese - Il romanzo del commissario
(2017)

Maltese
A bit slow but atmospheric and believable. Fairly gritty. I watched 8 episodes, whilst each actor appears to only have 4 in their biography. Am assuming that there are plenty of loose ends to tie up for another series!
