When the Fever Breaks
(2019)

Very thrilling, very human take
This member of the zombie film family does well to focus on the humanity. With some excellent performances, lean structure, and ever-tightening tension, it's a good watch-even for non-horror film fans.

Greatland
(2020)

Trippy and inventive indie film
Reminiscent of a Terry Gilliam world mixed with Idiocracy, this inventive indie creatively explores many of today's most pressing issues and questions within the context of a richly envisioned and satirical world. Would recommend!

Normandy Is My Name
(2015)

Witty concept comedy
An entertaining concept explored to its witty and logical end. Funny, entertaining, and highly relevant.

Paranormal Attraction
(2020)

Fun, interesting, frightening
A unique vision within the horror genre. Jump scares mixing with sexuality in a uniquely dark approach. Check out this indie flick!

Why We Fight
(2020)

Super inspiring and fun!
Loved this indie doc and hope more people see it-particularly young women. Very inspiring look at what it means to find strength and put your body on the line.

Bystander
(2019)

Taut indie action/thriller
If you love cop vs. criminal maze movies with solid action and hoops of corruption, check this out. Fun flick!

Reaptown
(2020)

Immersive, creepy horror-thriller
This is a beautifully shot indie with a unique storyline and fascinating, authentic characters. Definitely recommend. Blood curdling at certain points and overall, just the right amount of tense.

Call for Dreams
(2018)

An evocative head-trip
Reminiscent of films like 2046, Neon Demond, and David Lynch's work, this psychedelic trip through dreamscapes is dark, colorful, trance-like, and certainly original. For anyone who likes trippy films, this a great watch!

Carving a Life
(2017)

Moving and personal
This tough and intimate indie felt like a personal endeavor-a journey through memories and regrets reconciling with addiction and rekindling passion through art. Moving experience.

Dirty Beautiful
(2015)

Laugh out loud dark comedy
An inventive take on the troubled romance story. Did a great job integrating big ideas about existence without being oppressive. Some real laugh out loud moments paired well with moving moving performances. Solid indie watch!

Ab Negative
(2019)

Cool action-packed concept
A neat and timely feeling concept with well-executed action and thrilling sequences. Quite a ride!

For the Weekend
(2020)

Interesting take on the genre
This was a compelling human story wrapped in a creepy genre package. A uniquely relatable take on the "friends at a secluded house" of film. Performances are outstanding and relationships feel organic. A solid indie.

Everlasting
(2016)

A solid, provocative thriller
Interesting and mysterious setup with an unfolding story that doesn't hold back exploring very dark aspects of teen life. Really tense and riveting with solid performances across the board.

Disrupting Wine - The Life of an Entrepreneur
(2020)

Fascinating look inside entrepreneurship! Definitely worthwhile viewing
There's a lot of online content about entrepreneurship, but a shortage of documentaries (I say that as someone who made one). If you're interested in being an entrepreneur, are one, or are just interested in what goes into building a successful modern business, this a great watch. A little surprised I haven't heard more about it in online entrepreneurship circles and really hope that changes. This very well-made film deserves it!

Nicole
(2019)

Fun and compelling thriller, with some humorous winks
Nicole is not only a tense thriller with a charismatic cast-it's also a trippy little character study with some nice comedic relief. Tamika Shannon is riveting and the B&W photography is rich. Definitely worth the watch!

Alien Contactee
(2020)

Non-believer, still found it fascinating
As a pronounced skeptic I still found this a fascinating portrait of a character one does not often get to spend this much time with. Portraits like this are an interesting window into thought processes beyond the stated "norm." Worth experiencing no matter where you fall on the alien question.

The Town that Loved Bigfoot
(2020)

Surprisingly sweet!
I expected an investigation into the Bigfoot mythology-which was fine-but was pleasantly surprised to find a sweet profile of a seemingly lovely and enterprising town. Made me smile, intrigued me, and above all made me want to visit!

Before the Dawn
(2019)

Scandalous subject made human
A compelling and very human exploration of forbidden love, repressive parenting, and hormonal complexity. Did a great job of humanizing all involved and not judging its characters. Solid indie watch that would never pass the studio safety test, but doesn't gratuitously exploit the subject matter.

I Want to Believe
(2020)

Compelling speakers
This divisive topic is mired in controversy. As a life long skeptic I found the testimonies interesting-some more credible than others, all very passionate.

Older
(2020)

Sweet, witty, and relatable
This film will put a smile on your face, through ups and downs, watching the charismatic cast of characters navigate very relatable growing-up circumstances. It felt honest and personal at every step. If you're going through that weird period, watching your friends settle down from the outside, you'll identify with Older. If you've been through it, you'll be reminded what it was like. If you haven't been through it yet, this is a great preview-maybe you'll learn from some mistakes before you have to make them. Really nice little indie.

The Stalker
(2020)

Legit creepy, super lean and mean
This movie legitimately gave me the creeps. It's cut lean with all the fat trimmed off for a streamlined intense ride. Great score and titling as well!

The Evil Down the Street
(2019)

Solid horror thriller
A solid addition to the exorcism and scary house sub-genres. Good performances and cinematography, great score and a fun cast of characters make for a creepy, fun watch!

Love Is Not Enough
(2019)

Some hilarious lines from a funny cast
Fun cast of lively characters and some solid LOL moments. Great reminder that love is all you need, it's out there, and when you get it, keep it!

Perfect Feet
(2019)

Sometimes the perfect doc subject is right underneath you! I know, I had to ;)
We all have them. Most of us use them everyday, yet how much have we ever pondered them? Luckily Calvin Harris has done the hard work for us crafting a fascinating, upbeat, intriguing and often funny study of the human foot. The film opens a rare door to appreciate this marvel of nature for all its complexity, power, and beauty. Highly recommend this entertaining and illuminating watch. Bonus for very strong editing and an extremely lovable host.

The Stand Up Doll
(2019)

Moving tale of human will and positivity
I appreciated the filmmaker's focus on listening to and learning from the elderly. The subject's life is as complex as any her age, from her part of the world, and in seeing through her eyes we are reminded of the greater context to individual evolution. I was also moved by the power of positivity on display here. A true triumph of will we can all benefit from, and a look behind the curtain at what aging changes, and does not change at all. Moving film.
