Dancing was phat, thats about it. What I hear from critics on this board and everyday teenagers about this movie the two group's answers are a lot different. People who are on the internet judge this by it's poor attempt at an inspirational plot, bad acting and corny cliché dialog. The casual teenage group really enjoy this because they do not look closely for it's many flaws but instead pay close attention to it's "in your face" (Well what it tries anyway) attitude and the way these street wise locals can bust-A-move. This tends to fool them and makes the story seem more realistic and more interesting then it really is. Grossing less than 50,000,000 smackers in theaters worldwide this film would have been a bomb if it had a higher budget than the pitiful 12,000,000 it went on.
Basic story, A couple of homies with their own high profile underground dance group find themselves in situation when their hustled out of $5,000 after a former member of their group betrays them. Already long time delivery boys of a black mob lord their friendship takes a turn when one of them accidentally blows off the other while out with his sister. Forcing to deliver the goods himself he is mugged and stripped of all of it. Now the rest of the group and some friends must try to get these two tight to win a "big bounce" competition for $50,000.
Don't be fooled by what some people say, the dancing can be extremely entertaining. As said above the story, characterization, acting and dialog tries to fit in with all the hip hop attitude and just ruins itself on that note. It doesn't deserve the abuse it has received but just don't expect something too intelligent.
