The Book of Henry
(2017)

Overlooked piece of art
I had my ideas about this movie, before I saw it for the first time. I had seen the trailers and thought to my self that I knew a bit what is mostly was about. But I must confess that the movie took me by surprise. The plot can maybe be seen as a bit basic and some what already done, but I really think and feel that the movie put their own flavor to it. The actors and their characters are also a really strong point from my opinion about the movie. The characters are rich and filled with personality without being rushed in. The family of Susan, Henry and Peter feels normal and like a family should. And the actors behind them do it perfectly. Naomi Watts perfectly balances the part of grieving mother with still having one child. She doesn't do it perfectly and I love it! She, like all of the other characters, has flaws and the movie embraces them.

In my opinion, I really think this movie is overlooked at times and I think it is a real shame because this movie left me with all of the emotions. Laughter, sadness, joy, sadness, anger and everything else. The movie awoke something in me that had been lost. I really like, no, love this movie.

Out of genre, but not a bad movie
Everyone says this movie is out of genre and honestly it is a bit. But that does not make it a bad movie. Yeah, it is not the top scariest horror movie, but it has some horror aspects that can be quite scary in one's first watching. For me, this movie is more of a plot and character driving movie rather than a scary movie to get the chills. The idea is completely original and I personally thinks the movie execute it pretty good. I need to give som points for the actors. Especialle Jacob Tremblay, who acts like I think a little and scared boy in that age would act. He is the perfect sweet boy to counter his dark nightmares. I personally adore the score. It is suspenseful, when it needs to be, and it is happy-ish, when there is room for happiness.
