The Changeling
(2023)

It's got a bit of everything and I love it!
More people need to watch this I'm nearing the end and I've enjoyed the ride. Like I stated, this series has a bit of everything and should be enjoyed by many. There's drama, thriller, fantasy, horror and even romance. The writing, acting and scenery are A+ and work together to tell an original, fresh story. I could barely wait for each episode. There's a sense of mystery that gripped me and held me through the story. While it's not classified as a sci-fi, there was definitely an element of the unknown and surreal underlying. This is a real review. Give this show a chance, it's just a great series all around.

Surprisingly great babadok -esk horror movie
I thought at first this was a run of the mill - boy is haunted and no one believes him type movie, however, I was very wrong. This is a fresh story combined with great acting, directing and a perfect chilly tense atmosphere. I'm a horror/thriller lover and watch absolutely everything including foreign, indies, low budget, big budget. This ranks up there with some of my newer favourites like babadok and caveat. If I had anything negative to say it would be that the last half seemed too fast I would have liked a more drawn out, detailed ending. I was surprised to see the director didn't have a bunch of well know horror movies on his resume because it was that good.

The Infernal Machine
(2022)

A nice mystery
I really enjoyed this movie, especially with recent post pandemic offerings. It had me interested and invested in the story. Guy Pearce was really good. There are twists and turns and good amount of imagination to the story. Camera work and cinematography are top tier.

A big plus there was an ending to this movie. It doesn't just up and end like quite a few movies of late. Which I find extremely lazy storytelling. Literally, almost no cast and not much budget, but the movie was quite good. If you like mysteries or thrillers, I think you'll enjoy this movie. It may not invent the wheel but there's a good one here.

Enjoyed this mysterious show and can't wait for more
This show was really fun to watch. The story is greasy and acting obviously top notch. Yes there is some slow points where the characters are living everyday life but that's what makes the craziness better. You can feel the lead character trying to keep his life together with chaos all around him. If you like thrilling sci-fi's and mystery this is for you.

This a great thriller.
My husband and I wished it wouldn't end. This is a fabulous thriller/sci-fi that feels you in from the first episode. There's a sense of dread and the unknown in every inch. Somehow this series slipped by us, but very glad to have found it. Even if your not a fan of mystery and thrillers it will still be very enjoyable.

I enjoyed this movie although not perfect it's worth a watch.
I quiet liked it and found the story fresh. It had some twists and turns and a bit of mystery to it. Acting not great but very watchable. After the last 2 years of movies this is quiet good in comparison. I was entertained.

Fantastic sci-fi/thriller with a dash of horror and mystery
Hit the sweet spot for my husband and I. It quickly became a favourite of ours having the mystery, chills and atmosphere we love. The story is fresh and unexpected. Acting, direction and cinematography are A++. We watch everything and anything. You name it we've watched it and this sucked us in quickly and held our attention.

Fresh Idea and I liked it.
More of a thriller and not much of a horror film. The acting is well done. The music and cinematography create a chilly atmosphere. There are a few holes in the story and things that could be explained better, however it's a fresh idea and worth a watch. You won't be sorry.

Real person review!
This movie had me turning my head away and actually scared at times. The suspense created in this movie rivals some of my favourite horror/thriller movies. This maybe isn't "horror" but it's a very, very good scary psychological thriller.

You will enjoy this movie. The story is fresh and strange in a good way.

Them
(2021)

This series had both my husband and I hooked from episode one.
I'm hearing a lot of comparisons to Lovecraft County albeit a great show, Them has its own voice. I'm not sure why people need to draw comparisons because they both show racism and star black actors.

Rupture
(2016)

Give this a watch it's much better then most
Not sure why the scoring is so low on this movie. This is a good sci-fi/thriller with an original story. The acting is so much better then a lot of "horror" movies. Is it scary not really for most people, but it's worth a watch for sure. Really well done, interesting and original.

Top notch horror on the level of hereditary, Us and babadook
I loved everything about this eerie slow burning horror movie. Right up to the end and after really your questioning everything. It's thrilling and scary and takes psychological to a new level. As I lover of the horror/thriller genre I truly hold this movie in high regard. It's original, thought provoking, and beautifully atmospheric.

Avanpost

Good foreign sci-fi
This is worth a watch for the story. Acting is decent. Effects are good. Cinematography is very well done.

The Last Thing He Wanted
(2020)

As usual reviewers hating
So sick of the hate This is a very decent movie. A bit confusing but it adds to the mystery and suspense. Kind of a whodunnit IMO. The acting of course is believable. The scenery is gorgeous and the sound perfect. Honestly, this movies a solid 7 I've added 2 points to offset the pure ridiculous of others.

The Outsider
(2020)

10/10 nothing I would change
This show is absolute briallancemon all levels. Every episode has been perfect IMO. I live by horror and thriller and this show hits it out of the park. It's slow burning but filled with suspense. Love it.

Wounds
(2019)

This was a very good horror/thriller but the ending left me wanting more
I'm sorry but the people rating this movie a 1/10 should not be rating movies. First off this movie had atmosphere like crazy. The production alone should put this movie at a 5/10 and another few points for the acting, which is top notch. Where it missed was not having an acceptable ending which i find is happening more and more. Especially when it's hard to bring the story together they just stop the movie. I don't want to choose my own ending and try and figure out what happened. They had the piece ther for it to be great and they hinted at there being a reason for this by the small snippets of computer scenes. Why not dive deeper into that as a means of following through the story to the end.

Hidden
(2015)

"Hidden" gem for sure
Not sure how I missed seeing this movie. I stumbled upon it one night on day I'm glad I did. This movies mildly slow in the beginning but that seems to create the suspense and make the plot more interesting later. The acting is perfect even the child actor. Definitely not a horror movie more thriller/suspense movie. A few twists and turns makes for a unique movie.

Captive State
(2019)

Not just another "alien" movie
This was a well acted sci fi with plenty of suspense. The action was there beginning to end. I don't think anyone will be disappointed. They managed to create a new exciting take on alien invasion. Full of actors not on the Hollywood A list, but it comes across top notch.

Durante la tormenta
(2018)

Such a good movie
This is a great movie in most aspects. Acting a-, cinematography a-, original story a++. You'll forget is foreign.

Serenity
(2019)

Imaginative story with perfect scenery and A+ acting
I'm sorry I had to submit a review because how this movie is sitting at a 5.1 rating is bonkers IMO. Hollywood shot with top notch actors, story and all around production. What helps the movie, is that it's original and imaginative story. I can't stand how many barely watchable indie movies are scoring above 6 yet an extremely well made movie with a few A listers are scoring below average. IMDb reviewers should stop over scoring low budget B's based solely on not being terrible. I know this was more a rant then review, this is actually a pretty great movie.

10x10
(2018)

Really not that bad. Good acting, different story idea and a good bit of action
Not sure what the terrible reviews are about. This deserves at minimum 5-6/10. It's unique, it's got some thrills and great fight scenes. Give it a try, guaranteed your entertained.

Searching
(2018)

Don't believe the overrated reviews
This movies ok. The ending is a bit of a surprise but also where the wheels fall off. It's like they lost funding and tried to wrap it up very quick. Also the acting isn't great like everyone claims, no one will be winning any Oscars. However, this movie is sitting at rating of 7.9 which is higher then a quiet place and hereditary, two top horror/thrillers from 2018. It's sad you can't trust IMDb for recommendations.

Mandy
(2018)

Way too strange to be good
It's like being in the middle of an acid trip. I think that's why it's rated so high. Sorry but I like a better story, a little dialogue, suspense to my horror movies. The cinematography is out the window and traded for red light. It's all over the place and so strange that it's comedic. Total miss for me. Btw, I'm sick of weird and boring being scored high based solely on the strangeness and then a Hollywood blockbuster with a budget is completely under scored.

Occupation
(2018)

Awful, how is this rated above a 4
Total corn ball movie with a terrible story and silly, overly dramatic acting and music that ruins any sort of excitement you might feel. I figured with a 5.9 and 1300 votes I was safe, boy was I wrong. Please don't waste your time. I'm so sick of this site and the way A-list movies are scored beyond harsh and low budget foreign/indies are given an easy score. For example the new oceans 8 has a score of 6.4. Was it my favourite movie - no, but to score Occupation within 1.0 of this is insanity. I think realistic non trolls, non industry people need to pick up the reviews and help IMDb make sense again.

Dark
(2017)

Excellent, must watch
. My husband and I loved this series. Such a good mystery. Brilliant story, wonderful acting, perfect music and setting watch the German speaking version and not dubbed. The story is all the more intense that way. Can't wait for season 2! Give this a chance and you'll be very happy you did. I would put this up against the imagination of mr. Robot it will literally having you begging for more. We watched it in 3 days.
