Might be fine for younger kids who haven't seen this same plot 100 different times. But I had to give up 30 minutes in.
Po is a clumsy fool (picture Inspector Clouseau) with a good heart, somehow destined to become a hero and protect the world from an imprisoned villain who's apparently so dangerous that all the guards and kung fu experts in the rest of China can't handle him.
When the wise old master selects Po to be the new "dragon warrior", the headmaster of the famous kung fu school is outraged, planning to force Po out of training by any means necessary.
That's the first 30 minutes. Now really, how many adults reading this don't already know how the story plays out? Cute slapstick, though.

Personally I thought this movie had a lot in common with Rain Man, in quality as well as subject matter. The biggest problem it has is its US distributor. Between billing it as "Comedy/Drama", and the capsule descriptions I've seen here and other places, it gets marketed to the wrong audience.
This is a serious, though quirky, drama about the impact of Lars' mental illness on all the people around him, and the distributor makes it sound like a sex farce that would appeal to young males. BAD DISTRIBUTOR! NO COOKIE! There's no sex, no nudity, and only one minor sex joke (though it is still by no means a movie for children).
"Lars" is, in my opinion, a truly great movie for its target audience. But that audience is people who are old enough that they've seen what mental illness does to families, and have been to a funeral to grieve, rather than because they were forced to dress up and go.

I only made it about 20 minutes before giving up. In the right mood, I enjoy the sort of gross, juvenile humor these low-budget parody movies provide. Well, not this time. I was in the mood, I had snacks, and I've seen the movies being parodied so I was all prepared for a good time...
Never have I seen so many gags fall so flat so fast. Every single joke was a complete dud. Terrible directing. Terrible writing. Terrible acting and even terrible cinematography. I spent some of those 20 minutes amusing myself by counting all the times the camera cuts off the tops of the actors' heads.
Maybe they were trying for "so bad it's funny", but if so, they missed.
