Car 54, Where Are You?: Boom, Boom, Boom
(1962)
Episode 17, Season 1

Gwynne singing
Reviews think that Fred Gwynne's tenor voice must have been dubbed, but Gwynne did some singing on stage,so it is quite possible it is his voice. Gwynne was one smart cookie-fine art painter, cartoonist and creator of a bunch of interesting children's books, aimed at small fry,but an adventure to grownups. .A WWII Navy vet and Harvard grad.

Better Call Saul
(2015)

Shame on Amazon/Imdb
When coming over to Imdb to catch up on where BCS ended back in 2017,I was immediately hit with a spoiler for the new season. Love the show. Hate this website.

The Great Adventure
(1963)

An asterisk to when this show this show originally aired...
This show was scheduled Fridays @ 7:30 in th fall of 1963. That meant than one episode was pre-empted on 11/22 after the events surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I distinctly remember a twinge of disappointment that what was becoming a favorite show for this 7th grader would not air that night. But I was glued, as most of the nation,to TV. Later that night, remember the rifle used by Lee Harvey Oswald parading through hallways as he was processed for his crime. Live on TV. I missed his murder the following Sunday by seconds. Live on TV.These were four days that showed just how effective TV could be in relating timely events. A history story bumped by history. The show would not return until 12/6.

You're a Big Boy Now
(1966)

Every review here -good and bad-is right!
This movie is flawed, frustrating and...fun. What energy! What a supporting cast! What a cool score from the Lovin' Spoonful(not just "songs by")! But,yes,it is bizarre, especially for a mainstream film. It's bizarre in the way that "Harold & Maude" is bizarre. And if you think that H&M works, give this a chance.

I just emailed TCM to think about doing a 1968 retrospective,as they are doing for 1939. I'm not saying that the films of 1968 were more important that 1939,but'68 is the pivotal (post WWII)year for America. Movies, films, even TV was changing and in some ways we're still trying to figure out what happened. "Big Boy" was the coming of age movie that never got its due while hundreds of thousands of Babyboomers were indeed coming of age.

A Doonesbury Special
(1977)

DVD availability
For a short time,Image Entertainment bundled this cartoon onto a single DVD with two other pieces directed by Faith Hubley:"The Hubley Collection:"Everybody Rides The Carousel'". Unfortunately, this is a collectible item-at the time of this post, one seller at Amazon listed a copy for a low,low 250 dollars. My savvy son picked up a used copy a couple of years ago for under five bucks.Till then, the only copy I had found was a Beta version of the Doonesbury Special and I was unable to get anyone to dub a copy to VHS. Like a starving man with a can of beans and no can opener...

Thirty years since its original broadcast and, like Mike in the film, many of us are still wondering what happened to all of us and that spirit to change the world for the better. Trudeau still fights the good fight, one daily comic strip at a time.
