The Mandalorian
(2019)

Am I watching the same show???
How is this universally praised? It's like a bad sci-fi show had a kid with a generic Disney Chanel show...

I came expecting something akin to Battlestar or Firefly, but got something I have trouble finding a comparison to.

Every single episode ends the same.

Episode 1 + 2 - Mando flies away in space Episode 3 - Mando flies away in space Episode 4 - Mando flies away in space Episode 5 - Mando flies away in space Episode 6 - Mando flies away in space

It's a meandering, boring mess that has failed on all fronts. At least on other episodic shows we get character development and maybe an entertaining story, but neither is present. The characters are all boring, except Baby Yoda, but what has the guy done since episode 2?

Who is watching this garbage!!!

The Haunting of Hill House
(2018)

A must watch for everyone!
This is an amazing show! I'm very picky with my horror. It's a genre that has to walk a fine line for me to truly love it. "The Haunting of Hill House" is probably one of the best mystery shows out there and one of the most beautiful. Mike Flanagan has given me so much confidence in him that he's made me think he is actually a worthy director for the "Shinning 2". The show is so beautifully shot and written and he deserves all the credit. I have but one gripe with this show hence why I don't give it 10 stars. It should have been 8 or 9 episodes long. The first 6 episodes are a masterful, compact and soaking with mystery (10/10). The next 4 lose some momentum and feel a bit dragged out compared to the previous 6 (8/10). Overall I give this show an excellent score of 9/10.

Upgrade
(2018)

The best Sci-Fi/Action movie in a long time!
First of all the less you know going in the better, so I'm not going to spoil anything. This movie verges on a 10, but gets a 9 from me, for what I believe could be boiled down to budgetary restrictions. Upgrade feels a tiny bit rushed, but otherwise it's a feast for your eyes. The story is bulletproof and the twist is almost unpredictable and more so you are surprised at what writer/director Leigh Wannell achieved with the small budget he was given. He crafted a stunning world full of interesting concepts, all complementing the overall story All of the former mentioned things are spectacular, but they all fade when compared to the camera work and masterful editing this movie provides. If I would have to describe watching Upgrade, I would say it's a roller-coaster with the perfect buildup and execution. It's really unfortunate Upgrade did not have a large studio behind it. That must be the reason people did not see this movie as I refuse to believe people just disliked it, but then again maybe the film would not have been as good as it was.

Moon
(2009)

I can't express how good this movie is!
I went into this movie after having seen Warcraft, so my expectations weren't too high, but as soon as the movie started I knew I was in for something really special. This is the best Sci-Fi movie of all time and my personal all time runner up (it loses to Saving Private Ryan, but that movie is unbeatable). Clint Mansell as always delivers a suspenseful score that makes you wish he worked on more films. Duncan Jones is a wonderful director, but he shined more so in the story he crafted and dialog he created. Last, but not least Sam Rockwell delivers an unrivalled performance all actors should stride for.

I would like to end this review by saying that it's best to watch this movie without having seen the trailer, since I believe it gives away too much.
