  • I'm actually flabbergasted that Sherlock can be turned into this.

*yawn* I'd much rather watch the BBC version instead.

It's actually crazy how insanely intelligent and intriguing one version can be, while the other is so cheesy, shallow and boring.

Constant fighting, violence, and action mixed in with ridiculous plots about magic simply have no business in a Sherlock adaptation.

Additionally, this movie missed everything that makes the BBC version so great; the unique characterization of Sherlock is entirely different, his smarts never materialize in a way that matters or wows, and neither does his friendship with Watson contain any depth, charm or heart.

Lastly, we never acually get to know anyone; we're literally just dropped into the story, without any information on anyone or anything, as if the writers just assume all watchers are already familair with the whole foundation of Sherlock and his companions. Very lazy writing.

It was all just so... blah.

  • Only worth watching if you really like the Gladiator setting

Look, it wasn't terrible, but it was definitely rather simple and shallow with no real depth or logic. Nothing really did anything to me or seemed properly thought out.

The motivations of the main character were also really unclear and rushed; he went from hating people to loving them in a matter of minutes without any real explanation as to why. The same went for his feelings towards Rome; he went from passionately wanting to destroy it to giving it his all to save it for seemingly no reason.

Honestly, I wanted to love this, if only in honour of the first movie. But it just didn't have a solid enough foundation for me to get truly invested. It was also far too detivitive of its prequel for it to retain any semblance of originality, uniqueness, or shock factor.
