Embattled
(2020)

Potentially great, then lost
The characters and dynamics were great. Excellent story telling. It paints a great story of a monster and his wake. Stephen Dorff is fantastic. As the story continues it gets a bit ridiculous, but I was still into it. The fight scenes were extremely hard to follow due to the sliced up, close shots, and unnecessary slow motion. Overall, it would've been great if the ending was done better and not so abrupt.

The Rental
(2020)

First world problem
The Rental starts off great. It's got great editing, ominous music, and a good cast.

It sets up foreboding situations, so you're ready for something to go wrong. As the story unfolds, issues only the privileleged could get themselves into begin to unfold. Selfish behavior leads to paranoia. The writer of this has most definitely lived an upper class life, because the problems these character's face are unbearably avoidable by anyone who knows what a hard day really feels like. Also, the characters are vapid and heartless.

I found it incredibly frustrating to watch rich people fight over their rotten ideals and entitlement, all while they jump to conclusions instead of communicate the way real friends and family should. Maybe it's to be a lesson, but the only thing I got out of it is that people are awful... I want to believe they aren't!

The Queen's Gambit
(2020)

Fictional Female Bobby Fisher
Netflix found it necessary to warn audiences before the show that it will contain "smoking". Quite to the contrary, I found the child drug use disturbing. Also, in denying Bobby Fisher's existence, by replacing it with a fictional female lead, it opens the gates to bargaining against reality. Eventually, it transforms to a very watchable show, even though the camera barely shows the chess board.

The Invisible Man
(2020)

Good beginning, then becomes frustrating
A heroine movie where the lead character is the lead because she is the victim. And a victim of what, we will never know. It is implied that her husband is a monster, while she is completely innocent. Even at the end, we still had no evidence on the husband, other than his general creepy attitude. Nothing within the movie showed us that he ever did anything wrong. All the while, she's incoherently bumbling around, milking her sob story and pity party. It is assumed he was stalking her, but why, I don't know other than he desperately wants to have a baby with a woman who hates his guts. In addition, there's no backstory to make us hate him. Also,we never get any information about this "suit", other than he must be some rich, closet, crazy genius, who invests millions into his man cave. Ultimately, she goes nuts for an hour and goes game of thrones on him, then walks away with a sadistic smile. She's the scary one, and it's plain to see. Why did he marry her, and what was her job again? That's right, she's the good one and he's the bad guy, and she walks away with murder. Contrived and disappointing it is.

Primal Rage
(2018)

Primal Waste
The only good thing is the landscape. I love creature features, but if you expect any content, forget it. How does a plot begin without asking what happened? The guy gets hit in the head by a rock, falls off a cliff, and throughout the movie, not once does he ask, "why?" The girl jumps in a river, yet her makeup and eyeliner are perfect. The backwoods hunters are completely inept at their trade. The giant ape monster uses human weapons. WTF? This movie is so stupid, Harry and Loyd could've wrote a better screenplay.

The Eyes
(2016)

Interesting but predictable
The dialogue was good (screenplay), and the acting was fairly convincing, but the endgame was very obvious. I watched this because I love psychological thrillers like this, however after 20 minutes in, I knew what was going on. The story overall was good, but the direction it took was made for simpletons. If you can't figure it out, you need to exercise your brain more often.

Gotham
(2014)

Kinda Stupid Entertainment but with perks
After watching s1 e1, I thought this show was awful, but bc some of my friends told me to give it a chance, I did. Season one got better, and I got into it. Up to season 3, it was pretty good, but then it went back to being predictable. My major beef with this show is that it repeats itself. Secondly, the characters that get killed off get revived by some crazy stupid writing engineering miracle, every time. Third, Bruce Wayne sucks, and lastly, the worst character ever is Barbara. She dies, comes back (shucks) then becomes a major player who still sucks, then promotes feminism in a way to obvious and unnecessary way. Her smile infuriates me. Also, the joker was a mimic of others, then was revived, and is now god awful. There are some redeeming qualities, however. Alfred, Harvey, Jim, and Penguin are great.

Black Panther
(2018)

Marvel has found a great title for a movie during this exact moment
Solid good movie, and about a 7 out of ten. Nothing was groundbreaking about the plot or characters. I thought it was in the top five of Marvel's best movies, but certainly not as good as Thor: Ragnarok.

Big Mouth
(2017)

Why has it taken so long for this to happen?
The first five minutes made me open my eyes in disbelief. I'm so happy I finally found a show that was brutally honest and funny to the bone(r). The first episode doesn't give up. There is just one ridiculously true situation of satire after an another. I really enjoy this show for its "in your face" honesty and brilliant conception. Finally, we have a show without barriers that is true to the core of one's inner fluidity.

The Axe Murders of Villisca
(2016)

um the age is way off
Most all of these "kids" who are supposed to be in high school are older than college grads, or close to their thirties. The audience isn't blind when they're watching! Other than that, it was fairly entertaining. Some of it was good, some bad. Overall, except for the casting, it was enjoyable if you have nothing else to do.

Jeruzalem
(2015)

Multiple previous movies crammed into a b-grade cliché
This starts of with an introduction of video glasses and their profound technology, which only tries to explain why this movie is going to make you throw up. Why the glasses were made, used, or given to the the main star is probably because she is hideous. It uses a first person "found footage" film perspective, which is so overused by horror movies now. Then it gets even more cliché by not giving any sort of character study. Instead, two generic American girls go to Israel and "JeruZalem"... lame. They meet guys, party, and have dumb conversations. Finally, when an actual plot is introduced, elements of other movies start to run their course. Take Cloverfield, Blair Witch, Rec, and blurry images of "I am Legend" and then make it abominable, to the point where all the good aspects of those movies are ruined by terrible acting, low budget effects, zero reasoning, and predictable direction. Don't wast your time. There aren't any redeemable aspects, nor are there any interesting or pretty stars.

Hell or High Water
(2016)

Bulk sale on cowboy hats!
I noticed that the majority of the characters in this movie wore the same exact hats. While some didn't wear hats, those that did wear cowboy hats were very distinct, white with a dark band around it, the same grooves, and most distinctly, three holes on either side. There must've been a sale on dumb ass cowboy hats for a bulk price. By the way the movie was pretty good but not fabulous.

Entourage
(2004)

Vanity for Money grubbing douchebags
Sell your soul and let all the deadly sins invite you to a part of "sex and the city", for male douchebags. In this nauseating show, you can watch how guys live with each other for the sole purpose of making their egos and wallets inflate. The issues they "deal" with are rich, entitled, bs. There is no concept of real working people or integrity. My acquaintances watched this brain killing show. I never could get into it, due to its lack of reality and fake undertone. If people honestly live this way, I want no part in Hollywood's "jersey Shore". Also, the majority of NJ's beaches are great family towns, and are completely different than the one depicted by NY trash. Hopefully, Hollywood isn't as vain as "Entourage", but that's probably only wishful thinking.

13 Reasons Why
(2017)

No basis in reality
While this show had great acting and an intriguing mystery, unfortunately its idealistic and nauseating premise overshadowed all of its goodness. When I was in high school, unfortunately, 5 people committed suicide, and when I was in college, two more did the same. The reasoning behind the main character's decision to premeditate her own suicide because of a few embarrassing events is completely unrealistic, unless her level of entitlement was out of this world. In my experience, people don't think about killing themselves with the intention of getting even with bullies. They also don't kill themselves to make a point. Most people who are depressed are depressed for a reason, and feel that suicide is their only way out of their inner pain. They show signs of isolation, guilt, sadness, anger, contempt, and many other things. Our main character here mostly showed self righteousness. A lot worse things have happened to most everyone on the planet than what the main character finds as reasons to justify her own selfish demise. I found this offensive to everyone who has lost someone to suicide.

Pacific Rim
(2013)

Pure Entertainment
I love watching this movie. The scenes of the giant monsters and robots fighting are visually breathtaking. The CGI makes it realistic and watchable, especially when compared to the Godzilla movies. Some of the lines my friends and I love to use because they are so stupid, yet funny. While it's not a think-piece, nor is it supposed to be, it makes me smile. Guillermo del Toro, is one of my favorite directors, and I'm so glad he went the distance with this ground breaking movie. If you want to be entertained, but not think too hard, this is a great film to unwind to when relaxing after a hard day at work.

Ich seh, Ich seh
(2014)

How do I even rate this?
This movie had so much potential! The overall concept, direction, and the first 30 minutes were truly remarkable. As it continues, the middle reveals the twist in an obvious and hasty act of poor editing choices. The thrill and mystery that made the concept so fabulous completely dissolves, and I was left with disappointment. Since the beginning was so great, I continued to watch, regardless of its obvious direction. Instead of explaining what everyone is hoping they'll explain, they decide to continue on the obvious path. The operation on the mother is never explained, nor is the father's absence. These two major topics could have, and should have, been a MAJOR part of the story, but instead, they decided to focus on what we already know. Furthermore, the movie continued to go super dark and twisted. When torture is involved, usually it is used to show shock or revenge against a disliked or deserving character. The torture in this is gratuitous and sick. How does a child come up with so many clever ways to inflict emotional and physical pain? I was left mad. Mad that the movie killed its only treasures, and how it made a kid(s), who lives alone in the country, a mastermind of dealing pain. Finally, the end was awful, but I was glad, because at least it was over.

Boyka: Undisputed IV
(2016)

cliché but entertaining
Mostly entertaining due to great action and shots, but the plot was contrived, predictable, cliché, and overall written by a 7th grader. The dialogue was forgettable, the story line was laughable, but the acting was redeemable. Anyone who took this seriously or felt any emotion towards it are out of touch. While the plot and characters were generic, it did have an entertaining feel to it. Scott Adkins is unbelievably awesome to watch for his skills.

Orange Is the New Black
(2013)

In your face, modern and unbelievable theatrical nonsense
After painfully getting through the first episode, I forced myself to continue due to the good reviews. I never enjoyed any scene, and found this contrived and a knockoff of other prison stories. I quit watching after three episodes. I want the time back that I wasted watching this ,and I want to forget what I saw, because it made me feel like I was losing brain cells. 1 out of ten

Game of Thrones
(2011)

Best show on TV and in the history of film
Unbelievable everything! The dynamics between the plot and the characters are outstanding. It always makes me wanting more! The character development is one of its best qualities, but there are so many other great things about it that I just feel overwhelmed by its glorious perfectness. The story line is always exciting and unpredictable. The writers and directors do an excellent job at putting the viewer in the character's shoes, giving empathy to all the characters and their decisions; the good and bad. The special effects are fantastic but not over used like so many Michael Bay type films. Sometimes, it is so realistic, you feel disgusted and-or relieved, however this only exemplifies its poignant nature. Real truths are brought out. Even though it is a fictional world, the characters still act like real people in dire situations. This is truly a masterpiece.

Mr. Robot
(2015)

Brilliant but out there
Very unpredictable and thought provoking. If you enjoy psychological thrillers, that stem from realism, this is a great show to see. While the main character is not the most relate-able, his development as a character is phenomenal. The modern concepts that this show tackles are very real and provocative. It could be faster moving, but its story is unraveled in a way that will keep you guessing and wanting more. 9 out of 10.

47 Meters Down
(2017)

Intensely Stupid
Two generic, entitled American girls decide to pay money to get on a shabby boat to go cage diving. Along with CGI, extremely aggressive, and larger than life sharks, these enthusiastic pleasure seekers come to the brilliant decision to trust a bunch of strangers with their lives. Oddly, and predictably, the rusty cage is not up to standard, as is the winch and line. Every shot of sharks are of ridiculously proportioned great whites with their teeth showing, and-or mouths agape. The only redeemable character is overwhelmed by Mandy Moore illogical screams. It was a frustrating and nonsensical movie, where sharks, once again, prey on humans like humans prey on animals. When is Hollywood going to stop their misconceived lunacy when it comes to animal behavior?

Shark Night 3D
(2011)

Eye candy and outrageous BS
Super stupid, where sharks chase people on speed boats and leap out of the water for 25 feet just to rip them apart is an understatement of this absurd , nonsensical movie. They also have somehow made an abundant amount of species man killers in a lake, where deep water, cold water, and warm water species all coexist. It makes no sense, nor does any of the sharks' behavior. I just hope that movies start to make movies based on truth and scientific knowledge, rather than giving sharks human qualities and selectively insatiable appetites.

Bait
(2012)

absurdly stupid entertainment
While I love movies about sharks and creatures, this one is super unrealistic. No shark behaves the way it is depicted in this. Sharks are scary, because they have the ability to kill a person, but they aren't bloodthirsty man killers. Anthropomorphism is a common thing for Hollywood to do to increase suspense for less informed viewers. This movie is entertaining, but every scene where the shark is involved is downright idiotic. It only reinforces that sharks are out to kill anything that moves, especially humans. This notion is completely false. Sharks do not actively seek out human beings. If anything, sharks try to avoid people, because they know that people 1) aren't in their regular diet, and 2) humans are extremely dangerous to sharks. Between long line fishing, nets, chum fishing and large fishing vessels, sharks are intelligent enough to to stay away from us. Sharks leaping out of the water to grab a person crawling above, makes no sense... especially after it has already fed a few times. The people who wrote this movie are dumber than real sharks, yet still obtain the motivation to make BS propaganda. They only perpetuate the unreal notions of the fear of sharks.
