Enola Holmes
(2020)

ENTERTAINING.
Definitely an entertaining and enjoyable/light-hearted family film with a respectable cast and their top notch acting. However, it's bland and predictable and probably disappoints for a more mature audiences with its unnecessary love story and blatant social propaganda.

Alone
(2020)

NO SURPRISES.
Good suspense and story of survival. The problem with cat and mouse plot is that the schtick ends up getting old pretty quick. There are no real surprises here. What u think will happen based on the plot summary or trailer is exactly what happens.

The Social Dilemma
(2020)

I GOT GOOSEBUMPS.
"You are lab rats. We are lab rats". A real eye opener. Easily one of the most important movies of modern times. A documentary that people need to see, a call to action and a cautionary tale about what is happening and how we just don't want to accept or decided no to care about. P.s. side effects may include you wanting to delete your ig or fb. Hehe.

Blue Ruin
(2013)

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE.
Low budget, quality cinema with a perfectly paced, modest plot. A truly unique experience. There is something incredibly realistic about this film's portrayal of revenge that makes it all feel authentic because it is such a small-scale production.

Antebellum
(2020)

TWIST WTF.
Another disappointment of the year. Not as eventful and thrilling as I had hoped for it to be. Unnecessary plot twist. It had so much potential to be its own unique horror story, but in the end, it flaunted itself to be bland.

Psycho
(1960)

UNFORGETTABLE ENDING.
This film basically created suspense in films the way we know it. The filming, the performances, the whole atmosphere and especially the score. Unforgettable ending.

Rango
(2011)

GREAT WESTERN ANIMATION.
Rango is more than a fun animated old west film; the plot was creatively written, dark, humorous, surreal with some of the most most photo realistic and beautiful animation.

Falling Down
(1993)

A MAN FALLING DOWN THROUGH SOCIETY.
An incredible experience of a man falling down through society. It's like two movies in one, a black comedy but then turned into a social commentary depressing drama. It's extreme but also relatable in one way or another. Breaks down and blurs lines between good and bad.

The Devil All the Time
(2020)

GREAT PSYCHO-THRILLER!
Slow burn in the beginning but it all comes full circle in the end. Tom Holland deserved so much praise, also other casts.. amazing. The narration was perfect. It filled it details but wasn't distracting. Great psycho-thriller!

Enter the Void
(2009)

WILD.
Wild! That's the first word that came to my mind after watching this movie. The psychedelic was well-presented through the visual composition and lighting, feel a bit experimental for me, but overall great visual presentation and whole new cinema experience.

Mignonnes
(2020)

SEXUALIZING CHILDREN IS WRONG.
I've seen this movie because of its controversy, wanted to see if it's really as shocking as everyone says. I don't know, maybe I grew up in Indonesia's culture, so it's so provocative for me. Good coming of age story, but no matter the "message" of a story, for sexualizing children (even in acting) is wrong, but it's 2020 after all.

Mystic River
(2003)

FANTASTIC PERFORMANCES!
Bleak and depressing. Top-notch performances wow!! Golden cast. Great mystery-drama-thriller that will leave quite "an affect on you" after its viewing. Slow pace, but it gets better as it builds.

Irréversible
(2002)

SICK!
Brutal Violence! I think most people can't handle the graphic and emotional brutality. It did made me nauseous because of the disturbing sound and score, and the shaky camera and angles. That rage and revenge from the first scenes and the empathy to Alex' at the end, it's a new experience and quite memorable.

Mulan
(2020)

DIDN'T FEEL AS EPIC AS IT DESERVES TO BE.
Another disappointment of the year. Pros: beautiful cinematohraphy, gorgeous images, great soundtrack. Cons: pacing is terrible, lack of character development, random and unexplained character motives, ridiculous amount of cuts in action sequences. It didn't feel as epic as it deserves to be.

Y tu mamá también
(2001)

GREAT ROAD TRIP FILM.
Great road trip film. This movie is so many things than just a comedy drama. It's a political movie, it's a movie about Mexican culture, it's a look inside fragile lives, it's a lot of things.

Ittefaq
(2017)

EXTRA TWISTS.
Thrilled in every moment. A rare bollywood's non-musical gem. A killer of a plot weaken by the extra twists. Finest murder mystery flick.

De rouille et d'os
(2012)

EMOTIONAL.
Beautiful, very strong and well acted. To see her pull humanity out of him that was always there, and they portrayed it in the right way. Deep.

Train to Busan 2
(2020)

FEELS LIKE AN ACTION FILM WITH ZOMBIES IN IT.
I was kinda disappointed that this film didn't quite live up to the hype. It's not great, but it's not the worst either. Almost as soulless as its zombies. It's more like an action film with zombies in it. I hate the "fast and furious" formula. Good film, but the first one was better with more simplicity.

Raging Bull
(1980)

ONE OF THE GREATEST SPORTS MOVIE.
Probably one of the greatest sports movie of all time because of the brilliant performances and great direction. If it's goal was to make me hate the characters, then congratulations, scorsese, you've succeded.

Rush
(2013)

INTENSE.
Intense. This film truly takes you for a ride. Fast-paced and highly entertaining from the starting line. Even if you're not an F1 fan, you would still enjoy this.

The Descent
(2005)

CHILLING ATMOSPHERE.
It was scary enough just being stuck and lost in those caves. It gives me the shivers even now to think about it. But what really builds the chilling atmosphere is the music. Loved the ending.

Million Dollar Baby
(2004)

BEAUTIFULLY ACTED.
Deeply depressing but beautifully acted. A lot bigger than boxing. What an emotional ride.

Murder on the Orient Express
(2017)

HMMM...
The 3 stars is only for the incredible Agatha Christie plot. The cast is largely uncharismatic, Kenneth Branagh does not make a suitable Poirot. This makes only for restricted lockdown viewing. A murder mystery on a better canvas is Knives Out, sorry.

4 luni, 3 saptamâni si 2 zile
(2007)

CONTROVERSIAL.
The story of a friendship facing a moral test, in communist Romania. Controversial. Haunting performances, a simplistic tense story with no musical score. Depressing.

Talvar
(2015)

SUSPENSE GLORY.
Top class acting by Irfan Khan. So thrilling and disturbing. Great investigative drama and conspiracy thriller. The pacing is intense, the treatment of plot with 3 different investigations makes for an interesting retelling. Most shocking part of the movie was hpw things ended.
