Well, my daughter warned me! She was hooked in the beginning - until she wasn't! I should have listened to her!
Normally, I read reviews prior to watching a movie. I decided not to do that and go in with a (somewhat) clean slate. I ADORE Hugh Grant and love everything he is in. Until now.
While the beginning of this film appeared to have promise, it went downhill fast. It was AWFUL. Horrendous. No. It was just plain STUPID! It turned into a very BAD horror flick quick! My mom, who was watching with me, abruptly got up and moved into another room when it started going south.
The only positive thing I can come up with is that there are basically three people in this entire movie. To memorize all that dialog earns the three of them 1 star out of 10. And I'm being generous!
Any questions?

I lived on the gorgeous island of Oahu a gazillion years ago while my dad taught at the University. We moved from St. Louis to paradise and were lucky enough to live in a house in Monoa Valley. Everything was extremely expensive and at that time, there was no internet so we relied on the US Postal Service or long-distance phone calls. I remember my mom feeling very seculded there.
It was a wonderful experience and I cherish those memories. Anytime I see a tv show or movie that is filmed in Hawaii, I try to watch so was very excited about this new home show. Hoping I'll see some familiar sights!

You probably won't believe this but I was probably one of the only people on the planet who did not watch Breaking Bad unti recently - and it's 2023!
And full disclosure - I am a grandma, so there's that!
And despite all the rave reviews & hooplah, I just didnt think I would like it. The violence, the drugs.
But for whatever reason, I FINALLY took the plunge and watched the entire show. And I LOVED it! Obviously, I had to watch Better Call Saul next and I just finished. Last night. And oh - I've rewatched the ending now 3 times. I did not want to miss a thing!
I'm at a loss as to how to fully explain this series as a gazlillion other reviewers have done. Yes, BCS is perhaps slower than BB, but the character development was superb. You will fall in love with - or love to hate - each of the main characters.
All along, I kept dreading the finale. Not only because of the affection I had for Jimmy/Saul and Kim, but I was afraid the ending would ruin the entire series as many season finales often do. But my fears were unfounded. Better Call Saul's ending was fantastic! I could not have asked for a better finale.
If you are one of the few people who have not seen this show in its entirety, do yourself a favor. Watch! This ole' granny assures you - you will love it.
