Victoria's Secret: Angels and Demons
(2022)

Really good.
This is really good. The only thing I disliked is that it didn't all seem to be in chronological order, but maybe it was and it just didn't seem like it.

Once you see a documentary like this with a lot of information in it, I really feel cheated by all the other Epstein documentaries (that only focused on his island, which nobody really knew anything about).

It's good, though. I read a LOT of news, and never heard half of this, so I'm still urprised. I wish Hulu would make a documentary about 2020 riots, just for historical purposes.

Senior Year
(2022)

Good.
I think people's expectations are getting high for movies if this gets such a low rating. This is at least a 7, which is average for a box office movie (even though this is a streaming release).

It's not an epic masterpiece (as I like to say), but it is a likeable and entertaining movie worth watching. The quality overall is pretty well-made and cinematic (not cheap looking).

The movie theatre scene is pretty funny, and sticks out most to me.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe
(2022)

Way better than the show and older movie.
This is the greatest I've seen of Beavis and Butt-Head so far.

I wish they would bring the show back, but maybe a series of movies would be better (it usually is).

This was a great watch, and I have nothing but good things to say about this. I'd give a 10 but don't want to seem biased or fake, since that's what I read fake accounts do.

It's not exactly as funny as Rick and Morty, but it's just as entertaining and does have clever parts and jokes (like Beavis talking to Alexa like she's an actual person, when he's hardly ever talked that intelligently 😂).

There's also very strong feeling of nostalgia, at least for me. It's nice + refreshing seeing them on screen again, and in HD.

PLEASE make another. B&B go to Silicon Valley? China? North Korea? There's countless possibilities, and we already love the characters! MAKE ANOTHER!!!! 🙂

Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber
(2022)

Great series!
Great show.

I don't usually like Showtime shows besides Moonbase 8 and Our Cartoon President, but this is probably their best series yet for sure. "Kidding" also wasn't that bad, but it's just not that memorable.

Showtime (and the world) needs more series and movies like this. I would advise to stay away from the topics shows and movies already covered though, and I think that's why they have such a great show here -- nobody has yet to make a show this in depth about Uber (or at least I've never seen it, and I see a lot of stuff).

Keep up the great work, but I think you need to make more content. Showtime is kind of bare compared to other services.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
(2022)

Fun movie.
Jim Carrey and his little minion do a great job in this movie.

The beginning scene was particularly nice, though -- they nailed it with the Rube Goldberg machine in mushroom land.

Was pretty funny when Carey says "Needs a little mushroom" -- I thought that was a nice joke.

I still feel like Sonic is drawn cheaply, or maybe it's just hard to make it look nice when 3D creatures interact with humans still, especially in so many scenes.

Whistleblower: SeaWorld: The Case Against Captivity
(2019)
Episode 3, Season 2

Incredible.
This is an incredible story, but it doesn't have all the information Blackfish does. I don't mind that, but I feel like they could've did better at showing how many incidents there were, and they left out the part about the whale not hearing the girl blow the whistle (a real whistle) that the whale probably didn't hear before it killed her. It also leaves out the fact that the whale actually swallowed her arm (in that same incident). I feel like it was kind of disingenuous for them not to say this, so I'm taking one star off, but this is a crazy story. I really feel like SeaWorld inspired Michael Crichton to think of Jurassic Park, but maybe I'm wrong.

However, this episode does add details that weren't in Blackfish, so even if you saw Blackfish, this is still pretty interesting (mostly because of the subject of SeaWorld, however -- if it were another WW2 doc, I'd probably not have watched it though).

The Offer
(2022)

Pretty good.
Pretty good, but I question the accuracy of the dialogue and writing.

Certain things just don't seem right for a period picture -- like when the owner of Paramount says "and expensive as F$##" -- people didn't really talk like that back then (they would've said "expensive as sh##"). Just surprised they read that and nobody caught it, because I definitely would've said something about that line.

And the characters really don't look like their real life counterparts, but that's understandable.

The Lost City
(2022)

Awesome.
I really like this movie.

I always love seeing Sandra Bullock on screen -- she was a great choice for the main character. I feel like they should use her in a lot more movies even though she's been in a lot already.

Whistleblower: Blow the Whistle, Change the World
(2018)
Episode 1, Season 1

Now this is entertainment and journalism!
This is the type of content I used to see all the time, but now it seems rare.

This is a great episode, especially about the guy accessing patient records as a drug representative.

Whistleblower: The Case Against Los Alamos
(2018)
Episode 5, Season 1

We need more like this.
These are the types of shows I love, but rarely seem to find.

I feel like nobody knows about this show or it would be much more widely watched.

Please keep making this show.

These are like the only types of stories that interest me anymore. Tired of murder stories and simple/repeat crime stories.

Whistleblower
(2018)

Awesome!
I love stories like these.

Only saw a few episodes so far, but I really hope they keep making this show. I feel like if they advertised it more, it would be a big hit.

The Ratings Game
(1984)

Great movie.
I just watched this for the first time in 2022, and I think this was one of those movies people saw but then forgot about, or never saw to begin with (ironic, considering the plot), because it's a very good movie.

Actually, it's a great movie, but I won't spoil it.

I think this is a movie that a lot of people will still want to watch even today, though, especially considering the cast (Danny DeVito, etc.).

Just watch it.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Sacklers
(2021)
Episode 20, Season 8

Not bad.
This show is good at finding all the little information and things you missed reading the actual news while not making it a requirement to read the actual news. I read a lot of news (maybe not compared to some people, but definitely compared to most), and I'm still surprised at all the little things they find.

Too bad all news isn't as good as this show is, but I guess this show also has the advantage of more time than the news has.

I also thought it was very professional to say the Sacklers "arguably" started the opioid crisis, since that is obviously up for debate. Being correct matters a lot to me.

Hope this show keeps going, and keeps finding interesting things. America REALLY needs more shows like this, even if I think it's a LITTLE opinionated at times.

Made for Love
(2021)

GREAT show, especially so far.
Neat concept and story. It's sort of like Amazon's Upload series, but I actually liked this better (or just as much, at least). The plot and feel of the series is a lot more realistic, in my opinion.

At first I stopped watching this for some reason, but I decided to rewatch it a 2nd time, and I must say, this is definitely one of the best shows on HBO. I actually feel bad for dismissing it the first time. I think I stopped watching because it didn't have many well known actors in it, but I forget (I also didn't realize Ray Romano was in it until I rewatched it).

The guy who plays Byron Gogle does a an almost flawless job. I can't see anyone else playing his part better. He's believable and convincing 100% of the time. More importantly, however, is that he brings the character to life and is interesting and entertaining to be watched. The rest of the cast is great too though, especially Ray Romano (I thought he was a great casting pick), and even the guy who got his fingers axed off.

As of this writing, all episodes of S2 haven't been released, but what has been released so far is good. It's getting harder and harder to make a good show, it seems, but I think this is a good one.

Beetlejuice
(1988)

Probably my favorite movie.
I have a couple movies that tie for my favorite, but this is definitely one of them.

I think the sound effects and soundtrack in this movie is what makes it great.

The only movie today that I can even think of that has great music is Death on the Nile (Hulu really did a good job on a lot of things on that movie, but sticking to the original script made it what it was -- I personally liked it).

The Batman
(2022)

No way people thought this was as good as reviews say.
Very slow at the beginning.

Very hard to follow and know what's going on, unless you're a hardcore fan (and I've loved pretty much every Batman movie except this one).

No scenes draw your attention well, especially during most of the movie (there's a few, but not enough to keep your attention the whole movie).

It's just slow and a little boring. Too much talking.

Solar Opposites
(2020)

Better than Rick and Morty, at least sometimes.
This is definitely one of my favorite shows, if not my overall favorite. I actually like this MORE than Rick and Morty sometimes, which I think says a LOT (since I like that a lot too). It would actually be nearly impossible to pick just Rick and Morty or this, so I think they hit it out of the park (especially with S2 being as good as S1).

At first I thought some of the character's voices were better casted than the others, but they're all pretty great and I wouldn't change any of them. Well done, Hulu. Great cast.

Little thing: They need to be careful when saying things like "I sci-fi disguised this house" (without actually showing it), because it could come off as cheap. In that one case it didn't really matter as it wasn't central to the plot, though.

They need to just keep this show going forever, but always keeping it high quality. This show is almost like The Simpsons now, to some people (like me). The concepts in it would be a shame to let go of and not keep alive, however.

Please never end The Wall, or this show.

Death on the Nile
(2022)

Hard to follow, but much better than the original.
Movie is beautifully done, but VERY hard to follow.

Even with rewinding and fast forwarding I still honestly do not know what happened, even after it was all explained at the end.

The explainer at the end should clear up any questions the viewer has -- it didn't, but I was already lost because of so much boring dialogue.

Also, I kept getting people confused and can only come to the conclusion that this is because they didn't do a good job about making the characters more memorable (something they can't blame on the original writing).

I realize this is a remake of an old movie, and I think the long dialogue is what made it not as great as it should be.

The creators really did a good job on the soundtrack, even if it was just one song (the one when they first start sailing.. or boating, or whatever that's called in that type of ship/boat). I really appreciate that part. Movies today have such lousy music and sound. At least this one didn't, as plain as the story may have been (for modern-day, anyway).

Diabolical
(2022)

Not into animation, but this is good.
I missed all the dark TV from the 90s (like Taxicab Confessions, even though that's obviously not animated), but this is about as close as you can get now. It's not too gory, either, but just enough to get the point across.

Lost Girls and Love Hotels
(2020)

Japanese people seem to have it easy dating.
If you're American, it looks like you won't have much trouble dating in Japan.

Also looks like Japan is a lot less poor than the USA.

Or at least that's what I gather from their movies.

"Traditional Japanese" man is a businessman with a family. That's not the USA anymore 😂

The Dropout
(2022)

Nice.
I love movies about real life stuff that's unique to history, just like Pam & Tommy (another great hit, IMO).

My only problem with these films (like Pam and Tommy, also) is that we don't know how true they are. It would be nice if whoever releases the film/series to also release a list of sources where they got the information (news, first hand dialogue with the person being portrayed, etc. -- SOMETHING to tell me it wasn't completely made up), maybe on a website or just in the credits. This seems like knit picking, but I would definitely give this a better rating if I knew it was loosely based or fully based on the person's life. A simple message like "everything in this film has been corroborated using X technique" would even be fine, but they're literally leaving us guessing with this one. The stray bullet scene is mainly what makes me wonder.

I'm only saying this because I want more movies like this though. A whole series may not be needed, however.

Uptown Girls
(2003)

A great.
This is one of the best acting performances of all time, if you ask me. Dakota Fanning while younger is very funny, and Brittany Murphy is good too. This is a very funny movie that I don't think they'd be able to pull over as well today.

I Want You Back
(2022)

Nice.
Day and Slate DO make a nice combo on screen, but I think they'd each have that same chemistry with anyone (they're both pretty strong actors, IMO).

Amazon should make as many movies with both of these people as possible, IMO (not as if there aren't a lot of good actors out there, but I think those two are definitely in their "acting prime," like Arnold in the 90s). I don't mean together, necessarily, but Amazon should really use these two a lot right now.

The part where she said "They like each other, but in that way they take may murder each other" was a very funny and well delivered line. There's a lot of good scenes though.

They should have replaced most of the smoking scenes with vaping scenes in this movie, also. Smoking is soo nasty, especially on screen.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife
(2021)

Very good.
McKenna Grace, Rudd, and the lady who plays the mom were a really good casting choice (but especially McKenna Grace, and especially for the younger audience, IMO).

Everything is really well done and everyone did a great job though. Podcast was an alright little character too.

This is a lot better than I thought it would be. It's a 9/10, but I'm giving 10 stars just because so little content is coming out and this is definitely the best thing I've seen all month. It really isn't a full 10, though (it could have been slightly more "polished" -- not everything was "epic").

Lady of the Manor
(2021)

Good movie.
I hate ghost movies like The Ring and The Grudge, but I do like ghost movies like this (fun ones, or even ones with an explanation, like House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, etc.).

That being said, this is a pretty well made and fun movie. If you like Judy Greer, you should like this. Everybody does a good job on the cast, though.
