Stumbled across this on Tubi and had pretty low expectations. Haven't seen any of the Flunk web series or anything, so was coming in and expecting a low quality, queer film festival reject type story. Got to admit though, I was very pleasantly surprised. The production value obviously was very entry level, and some of the dialogue was a bit clunky, but the chemistry between the leads was rock solid, and their natural ability to engage was second to none. By the end I was entirely invested in their relationship development and would have liked to have gone even further with it. Really well performed by the two of them.
You know exactly what you're going to get with these type of Netflix action/comedies, and that's not a bad thing. Typical popcorn cinema, but with an incredible cast. It's great to see Cameron Diaz back in action, I've missed her and she hasn't lost a beat. Glenn Close is incredible and Jamie Demetriou is a scene stealer. Throw in an impeccable Jamie Foxx and Andrew Scott, and you really can't miss.
The formula might be predictable, but what films aren't these days? But at the end of the day if you can kill a couple of hours with some fun and laughs, who cares if it's predictable? I'm not going into a Netflix film and expecting Schindlers List.
Hope this leads to a bit of a franchise.

Love nostalgia, love queer stories; hate bad acting, bad writing and so much second hand embarrassment you want to die.
The premise of the show is great and has so much potential behind it, but it is ruined by the over the top delivery and cringey writing. What it thinks is funny, really isn't. There are some great nods to 90's queer culture, and it would have been more triumphant had it leaned more heavily into that, but instead it tried for cheap laughs that didn't come off.
There are some poignant moments that probably wouldn't hit better without the director casting herself into the older queer mentor role. It just got lost in what felt like a high-school short film.
