Shaonian Ye Wen zhi Weiji shike
(2020)

Donnie raised the bar
Enjoyable, like a 70s kung-fu movie. Fake, stilted, ok acting, and lots of caricature acting. DEI won't approve this! Sure, it was enjoyable to watch, but the earlier Ip Man movies made him into a real person. This tried to make him a superman too early, without the contemplation alluded to in Donnie's movies. (I'm not a fan of his communist leanings, but his movies are good.)

Similar to Jackie Chan, it's staged fighting at its finest. Missed hits, faster than crossbow moves, and conflicted evil guys, this hits all the martial arts movies requirements.

The lead is good. I'd watch him in other movies.

The Marvels
(2023)

Watched it, and regretted it.
Wow. So bad. I'm not sure if any of these actors can actually act, although the bad guy (or girl - I'm not giving away the plot) can maybe act. Maybe. Oh, this is bad. Maybe it would work in a comic book where they can string it out for several months and actually have characters with personalities.

Did the actors/actresses ever see each other, or were they only added via green screen and post-production? Sometimes it looked like they weren't in the same room. Spaceships could be from Buckaroo Banzai. Script is from Marcel Marceau.

Terrible. Horrible, Please, no sequel!

Echo Effect
(2015)

Dead man acting
Do they pay people to act this bad? Or is Boston Dynamics now providing robot actors? White isn't even phoning this thing in. Everyone needs a paycheck, and this was worth minimum wage.

Hard Target 2
(2016)

BBBBBBBBB
B movie. Cheap special effects. Bad acting. Bad script. Other than that it's bad. A couple decent actors for an action movie, and add in a couple dozen people to die and you've got a movie.

The scenery is nice.

Assassins Run
(2013)

Acting lessons and she'll be good
Enjoyable? Yes. A decent plot? Meh. No real surprise.

For those that remember Kurt Thomas, this is Gymkata, only much better.

I hope she continues to act, and isn't reliant on stupid opponents. She could be a star.

American Battleship
(2012)

23 minutes into this and ohhhh, this is bad!
Public domain special effects, public domain actors needing a paycheck. Public domain pretend ships. Oh, this is so good! Get yourself a few drinks then start playing this.

The Condemned 2
(2015)

It's your life. And the odds are not good
You, not so much. Dang, that just got me about $1M dollars. In bitcoin. I should've bet earlier on the actors living earlier at the end of the movie. Eric Roberts is one of those guys that you can't trust, ever. Oh, wait, was that a spoiler? Don't believe it.

Stupid movie. Bad acting. Enjoyable waste of time.

Rising Fear
(2016)

Really? You think that was bad?
A $6000 budget (ok, estimated. I'm sure it would've been a lot more than that had it had real actors) and you're going to snark about it? The story is good. The twists are good. The acting is, ok, wearing a mask is good. You can get an Oscar by painting your face. Just ask what's-his-name the drug addict in the Batman movies.

Ok, yeah, it needs real special effects. And real actors. But on a $6k budget? I think some costs were under reported. Maybe financed by the CIA or something. Enjoy the movie. Have a couple drinks and enjoy the movie. Give this kid some $$ to do a real film and you'll find something good.
