Primal Rage
(2018)

Primal Cringe
What a total mess this is! An ex-convict, his blonde girlfriend, a pack of hunters, a couple of native american police officers and -I guess- Bigfoot stars this garbage, which includes a very cheap disguise of the monster, a long -and inexplicable- scene where the couple is naked, letting their clothes dry, after having fallen from a mountain and a extended Native American ritual.

This has to be money laundering, otherwise, I can't explain how someone can green light a project like this rubbish.

Lady Bird
(2017)

Lady Bored
The "adventures" of a teenager who doesn't get along with her name, her mother neither with the place where she lives. The film lasts an hour and a half that seemed like days. It's slow, tedious and boring. Without a doubt, an over-hyped movie that falls flat on its intent to realize a social commentary. Don't get carried away by paid reviews.

Sam Was Here
(2016)

Sam Was Here... unfortunately, me too!
Actually, I was going to see another movie, but the audio of it failed. Trying not to waste that couple of hours on something else, I ran to Netflix to find another movie.

I kinda read what it was about and decided to give "Sam Was Here" a chance (I like movies that include deserts and lone protagonists). I shouldn't have done it.

The movie is like a bad (and doubly extended) episode of "Twilight Zone": apparently, a mysterious red light in the sky turns all California hicks into masked killers, and Sam had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, nevertheless, the whole film is a total nonsense and no explanation is given.

Tip: if you saw this movie, don't ask yourself about the meaning of it (you won't find it), just forget it and keep going. If you didn't see it, don't ever do it.

The Man from Earth: Holocene
(2017)

The Man From Earth: "Hollow Scene"
I'll try to make it short: 10 years ago I was recommended me to watch "The Man From Earth". I kinda liked it (despite this entire Jesus story, which I thought it was a little bit too much). When I heard about the sequel, I wanted to watch it, just to see what was going on.

The first one is, by no means, a masterpiece to me (as some claim it to be), but is much better than the second one. The latter lacks of everything that made the original one interesting, summing a group of annoying friends, depicting almost all minorities.

There are moments that approach the original one, but only in the first minutes, from there on is just an adventure movie, plagued with flaws and quite boring.

Avoid it.

England Is Mine
(2017)

Just watched "England Is Mine": heaven knows I'm miserable now
"England Is Mine" isn't a movie about Morrissey (the actor doesn't even look like him) or The Smiths. If you're looking for a film about them, you won't find it here (besides, like many other movies about real musicians, this one wasn't allowed to use real music either).

Who has not looked for a job and, at the same time, was afraid to find it? Who has not preferred to do anything instead of risking doing something for fear of succeeding? These, among a few others, seem to be the main questions of this film. It doesn't offer any answer, however.

If you want to see a guy rejecting all the women that are given to him, this is a movie for you.

The film could've been better.

Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House
(2017)

Stay with the original "Deep Throat"
I love spy movies, the realist ones, not the adventure ones (like James Bond, for instance). These are usually slow paced, but interesting. "Mark Felt" is slow paced (some may say too slow), but boring, insipid. In the first minutes of the film one already realizes who Mark Felt is and what implication he had in the Watergate case, thereafter, the obvious.

"Mark Felt" lacks the charm that usually characterizes this kind of films, at least, the best ones.

American Made
(2017)

American made... And remade... And remade...
Lately, many movies like this one have been released.

The story, more or less, goes like this: a guy leads a fairly normal life, suddenly he has the opportunity to make a lot of money, he makes a lot of money, near the end, he starts having problems with the law (sometimes, also with his family). Everything falls apart.

These kinds of films are generally well edited, fast paced, include action, pretty women, weapons, drugs, etc... But, once you watched one, you watched them all.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer
(2017)

Hollywood ran out of ideas... and criteria!
Who gives green light to projects like these?

I would love to spoil this movie, but I did not find anything that could be spoiled, since nothing interesting happens.

Colin Farrel wears a beard that can almost be smelled, hospital corridors, Nicole Kidman plays dead, naked, more hospital corridors, a young man eating noodles like a monkey, even more hospital corridors, a cameo by Alicia Silverstone, a couple of shots in a restaurant, two children crawling, etc ...

Is it too much to ask for a minimally coherent story?

Mother!
(2017)

For the pretentious only
Extensive, tedious, boring, meaningless. A couple of hours that seemed like days. Lawrence proves, again, how overrated she is as an actress. Of the rest of the cast, I would only highlight Michelle Pfeiffer.

The usual pretentious ones will find thousands of meanings in this film. Do not be fooled: Mother! it's rubbish.

Enough to use the excuse of the artistic resource to make bad movies!
