Wow! What a great movie. From the first minute on. Unbelievable. I've just finished watching it. Elijah Wood is a genius. So is his co-star Charlie Hunnam. Wonderful story, so bloody realistic. I just love it. The movie has got a superb story and kept me sitting on the edge of my chair throughout the entire thing. I also thought the ending was great, I'm not going to spoil anything for you guys, but the ending was one of the best endings I've ever seen. I guess I'm going to be thinking about this movie the entire night. If this is what's going on in a real Hooligans mind, then I've just gotten a little more respect for those people. Just stand your ground!

It is a quite good movie. Although the images look old and battered for a 2001 movie the acting is fairly good. Unfortunately it can't equal the great Leon de Winter book, upon which the movie is based. Some very important elements from the book are missing in the film. Another thing is the cheap bunch of actors, there are some good ones, but a few parts could've had better actors. If they'd used better actors the movie could have been way more fun. All in all, it's a nice movie, it doesn't bore me but I had hoped for a way better movie. The great book deserves a better movie with better cast! But if you have read the book it is worth viewing, it's got some funny details and some of the acting is really nice.

A few weeks ago this movie was on Dutch television, I had seen it maybe 15 times in advance but hey....why not watch it again. A very appreciated Dutch television guide said: 'The story is a bunch of separate events put together, causing the story to be a big mess. It's hard to keep up with the events. The only thing that makes you continue watching until the end is the fact that it is a unpredictable story. Watching this movie is interesting but not satisfying at all, you'll regret watching it.' I totally disagree with that. The story is great! It really sets you to thinking about the difference between good and evil, and especially how close good comes to evil sometimes. Director Troy Duffy also did a great job combining the action and comedy in this film. Rocco gives this film the bit of extra spice it needed, he's like a finishing touch. The only point I agree on with the television guide is the fact that the story is absolutely unpredictable! But that's a good thing! The soundtrack of the film is superb.

So, if you want to watch a good film, while having some beers with your friends...this is THE film I'd recommend.
