The Ghazi Attack
(2017)

This is a good film. Flawed but still good.
Okay, all you haters. Personally, I think you're all idiots. This is a good film. And is riveting from start to finish. What stops it from gaining universal love is the last 10 minutes are an absolute disaster. It's like those Indian cricket team performances about 20 years ago. Tendulkar would hit a ton. But India would lose. In that sense the climax where Rana single-handedly launches a torpedo is ludicrous and destroys everything that the writers had built up until that point. It is this that creates the hatred from some people I think. All right Taapsee Pannu needn't have been in the film.

Now why I think this is a good effort is the until those last 10 minutes, Sankalp Reddy, in my opinion does string together a riveting tale. While his technique isn't that good of a Hollywood A-lister (this lack of technique results in the film not being as suspenseful as it should be)he still knows enough to keep the story chugging along. Also he's attempted a genre that no one has in the history of Indian cinema and he deserves all the praise he can get.

The film lacks a strong lead character and the protagonist duties keep shifting. Is it the captain played by KK? Is it Atul Kulkarni? Is it Rana? This lack of focus prevents the audience from forming the crucial empathy for the lead character which would have made everyone like this film. So while the film has momentum it lacks emotion - simply because we don't know or care who's involved. And here is where I come to the crucial mistake committed by the writer. They killed off their best character. The captain. And from then on it's a downward spiral held together only by the threat of the enemy submarine.

Because of this screenplay blunder the film ends up a like a sports car with a faulty clutch. It can move fast but the gear shifts jar. Resulting in a bumpy ride.

But still all you haters this ain't garbage. Far from it.

It's a good movie. Nowhere near great.

But maybe another director, a superhitmaker (yet to come), will deliver.

Truly deliver.

Until then, kudos to the team behind The Ghazi Attack

Aurangzeb
(2013)

Fantastic film.
I don't how this film only got 5.9 out of 10. this deserves to be at least 7 on 10. Fantastic engaging film. Excellent use of background score. The director Atul Sabharwal needs to be complimented for combining a novel theme to a extremely engaging thriller. The morons who have voted low for this film simply haven't got it. The opening quote sums it up. 'Deep in an infant's breast lurks the father's nature'. And this forms the crux of the film. Arya (Prithviraj) is Anupam Kher's son who was an honest cop. Arya is introduced as a corrupt police officer. By the end of the film, his true nature, honesty, causes him to betray those who raised him. Ditto with Vishal and Ajay (Arjun Kapoor) who both end up betraying their respective causes. Granted, the film does get a bit confusing post interval with Rishi Kapoor turning out to be the main villain. But if you can make the effort to stay involved, then you'll love this film. Fantastic performances. Jackie Shroff is a revelation. Rishi Kapoor is a devastatingly menacing. South superstar Prithviraj is simply outstanding. Arjun Kapoor is good but in my humble opinion needs to rise up a few notches. I would go so far as to say that someone with more experience could have blasted with this role. Arjun just manages to get a simmer going. Guys, don't be misled by the low IMDb rating. Every great film has it's share of detractors. Also, Aurangzeb is slightly more complex than the promos and trailers had it out to be. It's a slow- boiling, twisting thriller rather the more usual fast paced movies. Give it a shot. But bring your brains with you. Flaws are there. But the good points more than make up for it.

Vishwaroopam
(2013)

Well done but slightly flawed thriller
Vishwaroopam has one genuine super cool high impact scene. And that's the transformation that the soft effeminate character Vishwanath undergoes into the superhuman Raw agent in one fist fight scene. It's thrilling to watch, not just because of the stunts and fight moves but the sheer transformation of personality that he goes through. Simply outstanding and paisa vasool. After that the film goes into flashback and then it's a thrilling tale until interval. One hour and 15 minutes races by in a flash. But then after the interval, the film dips considerably in pace. It's a major flaw, which almost threatens to derail the entire picture and ruin all the good work pre-interval. Proceedings are still watchable but are a bit slow until the abrupt climax. Shekhar Kapur is good in a cameo. Good stunts and production design. All together, the effort taken by Kamal Haasan shines through. Worth a watch.

Ra.One
(2011)

A super-crap movie that should be a super-flop but may be a super hit
SRK is a genius. At conman ship!

He's single-handedly taken a mega-crap garbage of a movie and turned into a must-see event. Now if that isn't genius what is? I think he said no to Shankar and yes to Anubhav Sinha is simply because he couldn't control Shankar but would be able to control Anubhav Sinha. A talentless soul who's only made sub-par crap reaching rock bottom in crappiness by making Cash. And flop-master Anubhav jumped up with joy and couldn't believe his luck that he was getting a 150 crore budget and India's biggest superstar after the disaster like Cash. It's just an example that God doesn't condemn anyone.

The movie or the pathetic example of a grotesque cinematic experience :-

1. G.One. The video game character actually smiles, sings and dances. Stupidity.

2. Ra.One. The villain doesn't want to dominate the world. He just wants to kill a silly annoying kid. Did the makers stop to think that the audience would actually support the villain on this one?

3. No explanation for anything. If it's SRK kuch bhi chalta hain.

4. Action scenes look they are directed by someone else. Not a good sign for Mr.Sinha. If only the rest of the movie had been directed by competent people.

5. Bad background score. For e.g. - the intro of G.One. We don't even realize the hero has arrived. Basic superhero movie 101. I guess it's too much to expect from morons.

The list could go on and on but I'm just too tired and don't want to relive the experience.

But the biggest people to blame are the stupid Indian audience. They'll turn up in droves like marionettes to watch something as bad as this if there's a star. But let quality movies go a begging.

Wonder why don't theaters just play slideshows of still pictures of movie stars in theaters. That should be enough.

I've nothing against movie stars, but only against talentless people being given the reigns to make movies and the result being presented as something worthwhile.

Shame on you Mr.Khan. I really like you and your movies but this one was below the belt.

I mean you cheated your fans. Your real fans that is.
