The Hunt
(2015)

Another Must See From Attenborough & The BBC.
The Hunt is yet another spectacular offering from the BBC, voiced by the legendary David Attenborough & with the stunning backdrop of natures hunters going about their business, it is an absolute must see. The opening 2 episodes have delivered what you would expect from the BBC, stunning shots & footage of animals like we have never seen before. From monster crocs waiting patiently to feed, tiny spiders that can fire web like Spiderman, Polar Bears making us laugh as they try to sneak up on seals, it's incredible stuff. This joins a long line of Attenborough and BBC nature films, and yet again they have delivered beautifully.

9/10 so far from me.

You, Me and the Apocalypse
(2015)

You, Me and the apocalypse
Brilliant opening episode, to what promises to be, a brilliant series of television. This has been advertised heavily on UK TV in recent weeks, and after watching the opening episode, it seems the hype is well deserved. Sure, we've all seen the scenario before, asteroid heading to Earth to kill every last one of us, but never set in Slough England before!!. The cast is very strong, some big names mixed with some lesser know names, and i can honestly say, everyone in the opener nailed it. If the show continues as it started, You, Me and the apocalypse looks set to be a very good addition to the end of the world genre !!.

8/10 (So Far !!)

Car Share
(2015)

Kays Car Share Is A Cracker !!
After a very poor run for British comedy, Peter Kays Car Share is a breath of fresh air. Comedy on the mainstream TV channels as been extremely poor these last few years, and if we get anything like car share to break up the mediocrity, it is more than welcome. It is no Phoenix Nights, nor is it up there with other greats such as Blackadder or Partridge, but it is certainly much better than most things labelled as "comedy" on TV these days. Kay & Sian Gibson both work brilliantly together & hopefully we can look forward to repeat series in the future !!

8/10 from me.

Better Call Saul
(2015)

Better Call Saul Looks Like Another Hit !
OK, i appreciate it's hard to judge any new series after just one episode, but with Better Call Saul, we already have the benefit of what went before with Breaking Bad & we can instantly relate to the protagonist. As far as opening episodes go, this ticked all the boxes, it gave us just enough information to make us want to see more, & introduced Saul brilliantly.

From start to finish, we get to see how the shady lawyer from Breaking Bad came to be, from dodgy deals, to creating stress for himself, it's always been in a days work for him it seems.

Anyway for an opening episode this gets an 8 from me, but going forwards, the show looks to have enough promise to put it alongside some of the best.

Louis C.K.: Live at the Comedy Store
(2015)

Louis C.K delivers the goods again !!!
At just over an hour long, this is a tidy addition to the work of MR C.K. Standard setup, Louis, a stage & a microphone, performing at the Comedy Store. As usual, his routine covers the usual Louis topics, his kids, his divorce, and how he perceives people & everyday life.

The show flows well, and contains more than enough quality material to keep you smiling & laughing almost the entire time. Particular favourites come in the form of a witch, a bat & couple of horny rats !! Well worth an hour of anyones time.

The Eichmann Show
(2015)

The Eichmann Show
This is a brilliant BBC production about the trial of Otto Adolf Eichmann, a Nazi who escaped to Argentina after the Second World War, and who was responsible for facilitating and managing the logistics of mass deportation of Jews to ghettos and extermination camps in German-occupied Eastern Europe during World War II.

The film is superbly cast, and tells the story from the perspective of the production crew responsible for televising the trial in Jerusalem in 1961. We get to see the logistics involved in bringing the trial to TV screens around the world, and the problems the production team face along the way.

Of course the biggest story in a production like this is the horror of the holocaust, and how a man can be responsible for such evil. The Eichmann Show is yet another reminder of this horror, and is well worth a couple of hours of anyones time.

8/10

A Most Violent Year
(2014)

A Most Violent Year - Good but no cigar !!
First of all let me just say, if IMDb allowed 0.5 votes, this would probably get a 6.5 from me. Where to begin with this one ? Well it's shot well, the cast nail the parts, but from start to finish you are waiting for the film to come to life, and unfortunately it just never does.

Some people will appreciate this film much more than others, but for me it was average at best. The main reason we all watch films and television, is to be entertained, and unfortunately with A Most Violent Year, it feels like we have been left wanting.

You never really get to appreciate 1980s New York, a couple of panoramic skylines don't really cut it. With a bit more substance to the story, better visuals & some period music, this film could & should have been much better.

Hello Ladies: The Movie
(2014)

A nice way to round things off after the show was cancelled !!!
I really enjoyed the Show, & being familiar with Merchants work, i felt it was a very good effort all round. The cancellation of shows can sometimes be annoying, but with Hello Ladies, a TV movie to round things off, should maybe show other cancelled shows how to give a little bit of "payback" to people who spent time watching their show.

The film is nothing groundbreaking, but it is certainly entertaining & well worth just over an hour of anyones time. A good effort from all the cast, a pretty safe but steady plot, overall i scored this 7 !! Merchant did a great job with the series & a good job with the film.

Rudderless
(2014)

A musical feast set against a thought provoking backdrop !!
The music is the masterpiece of this film, set against a deep storyline & with some great performances, it is a very good watch indeed. It's not often a film can leave you confused, on how you should be feeling and reacting to what you are watching, but Rudderless does just that without really trying. You will smile, you will tap your feet, you will probably scratch your head, & you will definitely spend time reflecting on what you have watched, when the credits roll !!

A very good effort.

Stretch
(2014)

Stretch is a very good watch !!
Going into this film i really had no idea what i was expecting, and looking back that's probably the best way to watch this one. It looks great, sounds fantastic & entertains from start to finish ! The cast were all first class & the cameo performances were a great part of the film. The performance of Pine as the crazy billionaire is a particular standout, but each and every actor pretty much nailed their parts. Stretch is one of those films, where you can just switch off for a couple of hours & enjoy the ride (literally !!!)

This one is a must see !!

The Trip to Italy
(2014)

Mr Coogan & Mr Brydon deliver yet again !!
If anybody is familiar with either of this pair, The Trip To Italy is really a must see series/film. The first instalment from these two, The Trip, which was set in the Lake District was initially a series & then released widely as a film. This new version is much of the same, and as the title suggests, yes you've guessed it, sees this clever duo wining & dining in some great Italian locations. The series is very easy to watch, clever, witty, and with superb impressions, but most of all the on screen chemistry this pair have is what makes the show. They bounce off each other perfectly, & in terms of great on screen pairings, they are right up there with some of the best. I honestly can't recommend this enough, i have scored it a nine, simply because i have only watched the opening two episodes, but if it carries on in the same form, it will be getting a big fat Ten !!

Top Class Telly.

Fat Tony & Co
(2014)

Fat Tony & Co is a great addition to the Underbelly series !
OK first of all, if you are thinking about watching this show, please check out the previous Underbelly shows first. No matter how much you want to watch Fat Tony & Co, seriously, watch all the previous ones first & save this till last, otherwise you will spoil whats gone before. The Underbelly Series & Fat Tony tell the tales of the Aussie drug trade, the gangsters who make up that world & the police forces trying to catch them. All based on true events, it is a cracking series which shows the war on drugs from both sides & how many people fall victim to it. I would also recommend another Aussie show called "Killing Time" & the 3 spin off Underbelly TV movies.

True Detective
(2014)

HBOs True Detective looks like another winner.
Ever since the Sopranos raised the bar, we have been treated to some great TV shows this past 10-15 years, & with True Detective, the latest offering from HBO, i think we might just have another beauty. When you have Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson playing the leads, the hope & expectation rises & judging by first viewing, they look like they wont disappoint. They are both very different characters, we get to know how they were in the 90s, and how they have changed into the present day, and how they both have individual issues. The overall feel of the show is a little dark, but the mood seems perfect for the show & the cast compliment this brilliantly so far. The bar as been set by a number of shows in recent times, but initial impressions, and with this duo leading the line, True Detective could well be right up there in the future.

The Class of '92
(2013)

Absolutely Brilliant !! Red or not this is a must see for any football fan
The Class Of 92 as players need little introduction, the 90s belonged to Manchester United & at the core of that success were a few young lads, mates, who not only lived their dreams, they did it together & made history. This film tells that story & gives us an insight into what it was like, the film is much more than just the football, it is a look back at a brilliant decade when Manchester was leading the way both on & off the field. Growing up most young lads can only dream of what these lads went on to achieve & for us sat at home being all nostalgic about the beautiful 90s, it is a treat !!! I really cant recommend this highly enough, a 10 from me !!!!

The Moaning of Life
(2013)

Karl being Karl produces another cracker.
To all the people familiar with Karl, from his dealings with a certain Mr Gervais & Mr Merchant, you probably wont need much of an intro on what to expect from Karl. To all the non believers or Karl virgins, it is really quite difficult to explain just how good the show is. It is basically just a normal guy being put into strange situations & putting his own thoughts out there, but Karl being Karl, it is these thoughts which make the show. The show is 3 episodes in so far & it's been superb, what i like about this series quite a lot, is that we are finally seeing a part of Karl hidden previously. Now he is the master of his own destiny so to speak in this one, he seems to be able to enjoy & appreciate the experiences & it really shows through on screen. Two examples of this, the dancing clown part & when he found 2 pizzas in the bin.

It really is a great show which as plenty of laughs. Well worth anyones time.

Wasteland
(2012)

A very solid Brit film - get this one watched !!
OK i don't review much stuff (indeed this is probably my first film review) but i feel like this film needs a little helping hand. This film is above average for your standard Brit flick, the acting is great, the story bounces along nicely & the overall plot is clever. If you like a good honest film, with decent acting, a nice bit of revenge, a nice bit of robbery, and a nice bit of violence, get this one watched. It seems to have been off a lot of people radars but it certainly deserves a wider audience, if you liked lock stock, or the bank job etc, in fact if you like any sort of heist/revenge scenario, this is a definite for your watch list. 7* from me but i can understand people scoring it that little bit higher, it really is a good watch.

Eastbound & Down
(2009)

Absolutey brilliant Television.
Eastbound & Down is a fantastic comedy show with a superb cast, led brilliantly by Danny McBride. The situations & the plots are crazy, but always believable in the realms of TV land, & as we go into the 4th season i can honestly say it is still delivering the goods. The one liners & Kenny Powers whole personality make the show, but the people around him bounce off brilliantly & produce TV gold. If you like something funny & easy to watch & have ever overlooked this because it's about baseball (it isn't really heavily featured), get it watched and i'm sure you won't be disappointed. I'm not sure what the future holds for Eastbound & Down but in it's present format, it could easily run for a few more seasons. !

Hello Ladies
(2013)

Another gem from the Genius of Merchant.
Love him or loathe him, you can't fail to see that Mr Merchant is an incredible talent with a good eye on what his strengths are. And on initial viewing he looks like he has crafted a work of genius with Hello Ladies. He made his name alongside a certain Ricky Gervais with the sort of awkward, hard to watch comedy in the UK Office & Hello ladies is much of the same in terms of "oh no did he really say that" type humour. The characters were all on point, Merchant was the main man & played his role to perfection, anyone who watched "Extras" will be reminded of the bar scene where him & Barry from Eastenders tried to chat the women up in the bar. Get this show watched it looks like it will be a cracker.
