Cassandra
(2025)

Bloated Nonsense
This could have, and absolutely should have been a 90 minute movie. Instead it was unnecessarily dragged out into a limited series. The characters are poorly written and aren't fleshed out. So, this house was vacant for all these years and Cassandra slept since the 70's. Has there never been a power outage? Was lightning on a hiatus for all those years? Apparently this house was in the country (judging by the scenery) yet there never was a weather event that could have knocked Cassandra offline? Also, don't get me started on the family. Apparently, the husband is so oblivious that he doesn't believe his own wife when she tells him about this AI? Give me a break! Don't get me started on the children. The son's character arc was pointless and the daughter's incessant whining was absolutely irritating. These characters were absolutely forgettable (thankfully so). Honestly, so many other forms of media told this story better and in a fraction of the time. Don't watch this. It's stupid, pointless and lacks any kind of satisfying payoff whatsoever.

Alien: Romulus
(2024)

Man, oh man.....
I went into the theater hoping for the best, and honestly, I had very low expectations. Then there's this. I was immediately blown away by the setting, the tone and acting of this movie. To say that the atmosphere was tense would be an understatement. There were literally times that I found myself holding my breath. Another thing, I liked how the plot and direction was unpredictable. It kept me guessing what would happen next. There were also times when I asked myself, "Who wrote this?!" Ronald Shusett and Dan O'Bannon are absolute geniuses. Honestly, this franchise shouldn't be in the hands of anyone else, I mean, EVER!!! They took a franchise that had become a little stale over the past few entries, added in some young, lesser-known actors and they conducted a symphony. I haven't been this pleased with a sequel in forever and just when I thought the movie was over, the Director and the writers flipped the entire story on its head.

Lastly, I can't ignore the characters Rain and Andy. Their relationship was deep, well thought out and well executed. The standout here was David Jonnson. His character portrayal was nothing short of magnificent and the range in which he executed Andy's development, made those "changes" he went through very much believable. Effortlessly and flawlessly, he took Andy from a broken, defective synthetic to a cold, calculating android reminiscent of Skynet's Terminator. I sincerely hope this isn't the last we'll see of Rain and Andy. They've more than earned their places in the Alien franchise lore.

Into the Dark: Blood Moon
(2021)
Episode 12, Season 2

I can't believe how bad this movie was!
From an abysmally drawn out and bad script, to equally bad acting, finished by a ridiculous "creature" reveal in the last five minutes of pile of manure.

First off, it took all of the first ten minutes to figure out the plot. Second, why wouldn't the bartender practice safe sex if he knew he was a werewolf? How did her son reach adolescence with this woman pulling double duty, working and trying to keep him caged up, while feeding his need for raw meat? Also, were there no butcher shops in this town? Why would she have to sneak out to kill cows for him to eat?! Did the supermarket or general store not sell beef, or any other protein for that matter?! About 90% of this movie made no sense. The only good actor in this movie was the lead and it's too bad she had to work with a bad script and a movie with a five dollar budget. Lastly, nothing happened until the last five minutes of the movie and the "werewolf" was nothing more than an actual wolf. Sheesh! I sat through all that boredom to not have any payoff whatsoever. This wasn't a Thriller, this wasn't a Drama, this wasn't a Horror movie either. I don't know what it was and apparently neither did the director. However, what I do know, is that it was a big waste of time.

Trigger Warning
(2024)

Sheesh! This is bad!
I was hoping for something better as a comeback film for Jessica Alba. I don't mind the female tough girl theme but this movie got worse by the minute. Jessica is about 100 pounds soaking-wet, yet she's throwing guys more than double her weight/size around like rag dolls. Then there was the torture scene. She's getting beaten like a piñata then magically slips her cuffs, beats two guys up, disarms one, while the sheriff is behind her and doesn't take a shot. She then leaves the room with the senator as a hostage, then disarms another deputy that has her at gunpoint. This is ridiculous. I know movies are 90% make believe but I had to disconnect my brain to even finish this. Since my brain doesn't disconnect, I couldn't finish this. I turned it off when she pulled the machete in the desert and started swinging it around with the sun in the background.

Honestly, I was hoping this would've been good a good popcorn flick but I was let down by unrealistic fight scenes and bad dialogue. I gotta say, this could've been somewhat believable if there was more gunplay for Alba's character and I think she did the best with what she was given. Hopefully she makes another movie, preferably an action drama because she's always had good acting chops.

Rust Creek
(2018)

Melatonin on film...
At first glance, the tone was interesting even though the main character was pretty dumb. I was holding out hope for some significant character development by the end of the movie. Thats the thing, it started out ok but then took a nose dive. This movie didn't need this ridiculously long run time. It could've easily been 90 minutes long and still told a coherent story with what was presented.

The script never told us how she was able to fight off two criminals that were twice her size. How was she able to fight the sheriff, despite her injury, who outweighed her by a good 170 pounds? Was she into kickboxing, a survivalist, an avid wrestling fan, a jiujutsu enthusiast? Who exactly was the protagonist and what were her motivations in life? Did she actually want to learn how to cook meth? I mean, she really seemed to be into the guy cooking the meth. I guess we'll never know the answers because, after this bloated snooze-fest, the movie ends with a hard break as the state police pull up behind her.

Skip this and watch drying paint instead. Unless you're an insomniac, then this'll put you right to sleep.

Batman Ninja
(2018)

Completely Dreadful
I honestly wish I could rate this in the negatives. What in the world were they thinking even creating this abomination?! Where on earth did this make any sense as they were putting rough drafts together? Castles that can transform into giant robots to do battle?! In ancient Japan?! The animation was dreadful, the action was equally dreadful and all of it was dwarfed by this abysmally dreadful story. They should have given kindergarteners crayons and construction paper and let their imaginations run wild. Whatever they could've come up with would have been Oscar material compared to this mess.

I'd rather get a root canal than sit through this mess again. Seriously, just skip it and pretend it doesn't exist.

Avgrunden
(2023)

I turned it off during the Third Act
This is a soap opera disguised as a disaster movie. Literally 90% of the movie revolves around this love triangle and family drama. I was hoping for more character development but the story is too bogged down with lame dialogue and bad decisions. By the second act, I was hoping that the sinkholes would just swallow up the town.

With all of the annoying and unrealistic characters, it was hard for me to connect with any of them on an emotional level. With everything that was going on, the people on the street would rather stop and stare at the sinkholes swallowing everything up instead of running for their lives. Another thing, as the main character (Friga or whatever her name was) was impaled on the rebar while trying to save her son, he's asking about her new boyfriend and she tells him "If you don't like him, he's out." Really? Thats what you're thinking about while the entire town is falling down on your head?! I turned the movie off after that part.

Save your time and go watch puppy videos or something.

The Surprise Visit
(2022)

Stupidity On Film
I feel like I lost twenty IQ points just by watching this nonsensical atrocity. The entire movie takes place in the woods with one of the most unrealistic cat and mouse chases in cinematic history.

Bad actors, screechy, whiny voices, laughable dialogue and completely unbelievable circumstances. Who in their right mind green lit this insult to cinema? What was Eric Roberts thinking by signing on to this dumpster fire? Worse yet, how did this end up with 4 of 5 stars on Prime? This looks like it should have been in the 99 cents bin of your local car wash. Sheesh! I'm surprised I was able to sit through the whole thing.

Save your time and brain cells. Your time would be better spent watching mold grow on old bread.

The Mother
(2023)

I honestly wasn't expecting much.
I didn't set the bar high by any means and I'm glad I didn't. It started out ok for what it was but the entire second act was pretty much a camping trip. You would think that with everything Zoe went through up until they left Cuba, she'd be a little more humble and thankful, but no, just another preteen being a brat because that's what all preteens do, right? Also, this would've been slightly more believable as a story if JLo didn't look like she was interviewing with Vanity Fair between takes. I mean, her hair and makeup were flawless in every shot, whether it was present day wilderness survival, or twelve years in the past. I'd like to add that the villain checked off every cliché on the list. The only thing he was missing was a long mustache that he could twirl between his index finger and his thumb.

All in all, this wasn't the worst movie I've seen, but it wasn't the best either. It was just ok.

Honeymoon
(2014)

Absolute Drivel
This was an absolute waste of time. First off, I completely understand the need for exposition in story telling but this was something else entirely. All exposition without any execution.

The first half of the movie I felt like I was actually at a cabin, doing absolutely nothing. I struggle to understand what the writers were thinking when they put this mess of a script on paper. I don't mind low budget movies but this looks like it was made with a budget of $100. Not to mention, this movie's pacing was like watching a a slug trying to wade through concrete. After an hour of this slog fest, I assumed there'd be some sort of payoff for actually sitting through this mess but we're left to figure out was going on. Whatever it was, we'll never know what their motives were and why they were leaving marks on the inside of women's thighs.

Do yourself a favor, plant some seeds in a pot, water them, then watch them grow in real time. Watching that would be more entertaining than watching this raw, festering sewage.

Vendetta
(2022)

What were they thinking?
Where do I start? Why was his daughter killed? Did they have some kind of previous beef? Nah, they killed her just because. Second, how does the main character survive two direct shots to the chest, then walk out of the hospital without fully healing? I guess the writers didn't know either, so they just made it happen. Lastly, what was Bruce Willis thinking when he signed on to this stinker?! This movie is the rancid juice that leaks out of the bottom of the dumpster when it's raining. I'd love to know if the person who wrote this horrible story, did so on a dare, was inebriated, missing a few screws or all of the above. You know it's bad when Mike Tyson was one of the better parts of this sewage water. Watch something else, anything else. This movie is worth less than used toilet paper. Seriously, stay away.

Prey
(2022)

This Was Nothing Short of Spectacular!!!
After the last abysmal entry in the series, I welcomed this new addition to the mythos. Everything about this movie was stellar. From the cast, the atmosphere, the tone, the setting, everything was a home run.

Naru's story arc was impressive to say the least. She learned from every encounter she had with the Predator. Her victory over the creature wasn't handed to her. Instead, she had to earn it and that victory came at a very high cost. After watching her fellow Comanche tribesmen, and her brother get slaughtered by The Predator, she came up with an ingenious plan to kill the creature despite being outmatched in almost every way. Amber Midthunder did an excellent job and I hope this isn't the last we'll see of Naru.

After watching this, I came away being completely satisfied. This movie felt like an act of redemption for the franchise and for the fans. Hats off to the director, the writers, the cast and the crew of this absolutely fantastic film.

Top Gun: Maverick
(2022)

That's how you make a sequel!!!
I was hesitant to watch this at first, but I ended up enjoying this from start to finish. After all, Hollywood doesn't have a great track record when it comes to making sequels. For starters, I liked the nods to the original. I also liked that this wasn't just a copy and paste, retelling of the first movie. While being respectful to the original, nostalgia wasn't the main focus here. The script simply builds on the events of the first movie. No preachy dialogue, unnecessarily vulgar language, gratuitous nudity or ridiculous plot twists either. Just great storytelling from start to finish. The writers really poured their hearts and souls into this and they ended up producing a superb movie. This movie is a work of art and a nod to a time when movies didn't solely rely on excessive CGI and explosions to tell a story. Sadly, that's what's lacking in the majority of modern day movies. In plain language, this is why people go to the movies and this is what entertainment is all about. Top Gun: Maverick captures what Hollywood once was, and what it still should be.

The Highwaymen
(2019)

Highly Recommended!!!
I wasn't optimistic when I decided to watch this movie. Nowadays, there are too many movies that glorify and sensationalize criminal behavior while portraying the lawmen that are tasked to take them down as the villains. The Highwaymen was the complete opposite of what I was expecting. Bonnie and Clyde were barely shown in this movie and it was all the better for it.

Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson's performances were stellar. They played well off of each other and effectively illustrated how life experiences can affect each individual differently. Costner's character portrayed a lawman, bound by duty, that didn't particularly enjoy doing what needed to be done, but got it done all the same. His character wore the true burden of delivering justice on his sleeve, again, without glorifying or sensationalizing putting the rabid animals that Bonnie and Clyde were, down. Although this has a long run time, I didn't find myself bored. If anything, the slow-burn tone of the movie fit in perfectly with the historical accuracy of this project. I also thoroughly enjoyed the performances of the supporting cast, as well as the costume design.

This movie's cinematography was nothing short of superb. From the set pieces, to the vehicles, to the environments, leading up to the very satisfying ending, I actually felt like I was in 1934. Sure, this movie won't be everyone's cup of tea, but that's because it's cut from a different cloth. This movie captures what Hollywood used to be and, without promoting some "obligatory message", it could be again.

In closing, I highly recommend this film as it is nothing short of a masterpiece that focuses on historical accuracy, storytelling and well-rounded characters. Sadly, movies of this caliber and quality have become a lost art form.

The Last Duel
(2021)

A long, drawn out snooze fest.
The story was bland and was too drawn out. Given the cast and director, I expected a lot more. Telling the story from three separate points of view was as unnecessary as was the retelling of the elephant in the movie, the rape scene. Why would the Ridley Scott think it necessary for the audience to sit through that rape scene twice?! I wanted to like this, I really did. However, so much of this could have and should have been left out.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow
(2020)

Super Dumb
Parasite was more Godzilla than villain. This movie was horribly paced, terribly written. Why did we need another origin story of a character that's been around forever? Lobo was a nice surprise at first but, who put the bounty on Superman? Why did Lobo suddenly stop caring about collecting it? Why would he work for Lex? Is there an intergalactic currency exchange that we don't know about? I guess we'll never know. Zachary Quinto as Lex was a good choice and I'd love to see him reprise the role in a script that isn't so ridiculous. What the hell did I just watch?! Better yet, what the hell were they thinking with the convoluted story?! It's a complete mess!!! Yikes!!!

Army of the Dead
(2021)

Terrible from start to finish.
What a waste of time. The script was all over the place and there were plot holes the size of craters in this joke of a movie. None of the characters were likable and the entire premise of a pregnant zombie was laughable. Next, the fact that a helicopter could pull those maneuvers after being "fixed" after sitting for so long was an absolutely silly. Lastly, how did the last character not know that he was bitten the entire time? How did he survive being buried alive, inside of a safe, under a giant building, that got hit with a nuke? I'm actually impressed that I was able to sit through the entire thing. There's a right way and a wrong way to make a zombie movie and this was definitely the wrong way. Absolutely horrible.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

Horrendous
First off, I loved the first movie and was looking forward to the sequel. That being said, this was a disappointing convoluted mess. It's like a train wreck and a dumpster fire had a baby, then the baby puked and that puke became this movie. Seriously, what were they thinking with this script? So many talented actors and so much wasted potential.

So, because the script says so, Diana can make things disappear at will? She can swing from lighting with her lariat? She can block and catch bullets with her lariat? She can attach and swing from airplanes that are at cruising altitude while she's on the ground?! All of these exaggerated abilities while she's supposedly losing her powers? Another thing, her suit was supposed to be powerful, yet it crumbled like tinfoil during her five minute fight with Cheetah. What was the point of her wearing it then if she was back at full strength?

Max Lord's character was laughable. The stone wasn't crumbling with every wish, so why was he getting sick after granting wishes even though he became the stone? None of this lunacy made any sense whatsoever.

This movie was so bad that I walked out of my own house. Seriously, skip this and watch the first movie.

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War
(2020)

Absolutely Fantastic
I'm a big fan of DC Animation so it was a given that I'd watch this movie. It was amazing from beginning to end, but I wouldn't recommend this for children. This movie was gory but it wasn't senseless and served the purpose of reminding the viewer of how high the stakes were from the opening act. This was very well done and the ending was a satisfying culmination of the events of the last 14 movies. I highly recommended it to anyone who is a fan of DC comics and the Justice League.

Us
(2019)

Who in their right mind would green light this script?!
Complete rubbish and a waste of talented actors. If I were to list what was wrong with this movie, this would be a 2,000 word review. Do yourself a favor, skip this movie and watch paint dry because that would be more entertaining than sitting through this drivel. If I could give this zero stars, I would.

Crawl
(2019)

Not the worst movie ever but....
Let's start with the bad choices the characters made through the entire movie. I found myself hoping they'd both get eaten so the movie would be over. Since this wasn't an all out Sci-Fi fantasy movie, the script and plot points should have been more believable. Honestly, the movie would have been over in five minutes had Barry Pepper used that shovel to break through the floor above his head and then retrieved his daughter. I wasn't sure why they were trying to leave the house at all. I mean, by this point, they knew they were surrounded by alligators that had laughably unlimited stomach capacity, so why not take the dog and go upstairs to the roof and wait for help? Another thing, since when do helicopters fly in category 5 hurricanes? Next, the scene with the policeman's glock was absolutely ridiculous. There was literally no reason that his glock wouldn't fire in the condition the protagonist found it in. The first bullet fired into the alligator's throat would have killed it or, at the very least, made it swim away. Lastly, why were alligators hunting during a hurricane? Were they immune to all the severe weather and the debris that was floating and flying everywhere?! There were too many cheesy one-liners and forced pep talks between the two main characters. Lastly, the anti-climactic ending was the cherry on top of this fecal matter sundae. Fade to black, Really? No epilogue or anything?! Sheesh! Everyone in the theater had the same puzzled expression on their faces. I'd like to add that I'm a fan Barry Pepper's body of work and feel like he did the best he could with the script and direction that he was given. My closing advice, do yourself a favor, save your money and wait until this is on Showtime.

The Predator
(2018)

Swing And A Miss...
This movie was complete garbage. The story made no sense and the script might as well have been written by a ten year old kid. The tone of the movie was inconsistent from the opening scene. Is this an action movie, a comedy or a drama? Apparently Shane Black had no idea either. My only hope now is that this won't be the last entry in the franchise and hopefully the fans can get redemption for being duped into watching this flaming, dumpster fire. This is by far the worst movie in the Predator franchise. Don't waste your time.

How It Ends
(2018)

So Much Wasted Time And Potential
This entire movie was a waste of time. It was promising at the beginning but there was no payoff. There was absolutely no explanation of what caused this disaster and set everything in motion. I guess this is how it ends....with no ending. Avoid at all costs unless you relish the idea of wasting 154 minutes of your life.

Annihilation
(2018)

What The Hell Did I Just Watch?!?!
I made an IMDB account just so I could rate and review this movie. Nothing about this movie makes any sense. The plot was all over the place and barely kept my attention. There were characters making questionable decisions, the absence of a coherent military presence, a serious lack of coherent story telling. I didn't mind the all female team that was sent in to investigate, another thing that didn't make sense was that they went in without any biohazard gear whatsoever and sent scientists in with fully automatic wespons and no training. The sex scenes that were thrown in there were for no apparent reason at all. You have to wait until the end of the movie to find out what The Shimmer was, and even then, they don't tell you exactly what it was. "Oh, it's just some alien." Why was it changing the environment? How did her husband's clone survive after The Shimmer was destroyed? So many unanswered questions and so little plot substance. For the life of me, I don't know how this got a theatrical release. Seriously, did the writers dream this up during an acid trip? I rented this for cheap and still feel ripped off. This movie isn't even worth the disc it's made on and was a complete waste of time. Skip this and go watch something that's both entertaining and thought provoking.
