I would give a -10 if I could. The movie is bad, the plot is derivative and the acting is shameful. It even pretends to be funny at times and it becomes pathetic.
There are a lot of zombie movies around. But this is the worst by far.
Violent, raw, intense, strong and sometimes gory. Towards the end, it has one of the best fighting scenes since They Live (1988) and the hammer fight from Old Boy (2003), the original Korean film.
The first part was funny and fresh. The second looks as tired as Eddie Murphy in the role of a middle age king. All the characters who were funny or interesting, now are dull and boring.
"El Marginal" is a rip off from "Tumberos" that happens to be a copy of OZ. There are several scenes in El Marginal stolen from "Boyka: Undisputed" to "Casino" when Joe Pesci character's brother is burried in front of him.
Lot of characters and situations are taken from "Pretty in Pink", especially Dunkleman who is in love with the main charcter, sounds, looks and behaves like Duckie. The ending is the alternative ending of "Pretty in Pink"
The movie starts slow. And up to the middle, it is an average flick. But the ending is really bad. The wife took off with the real baby. So where is the other baby coming from? They could not be twins because she had at least one ultrasound scan at the beginning of the movie. Did she steal the extra baby? Did she clone it?
This movie is one of the worst I have watched lately. The heroes are as despicable as the villain. Stephanie slept with her half brother and he could even be the father of her child. Sean cheats. The plot is extremely predictable. The twin brother/sister twist has been seen so many times, it could not surprise anyone. And the ending, please. Streaming the whole thing looks silly.
The story is not credible. The dialogues are unrealistic. And you could tell the book was written by a psychology (Rolon) who feels the need to defend his profession the whole time. I think he feels guilty about something.
The actors are really bad. Vicuña does a really bad job trying to hide his Chilean accent. He could just play it as Chilean character. But sometimes he sounds Chilean and sometimes not. Suarez is just a pretty face but do not ask her any range or depth. The rest of the cast overact the whole time.
