Harlan Coben's Shelter
(2023)

Trying way too hard
This show is cringe worthy. I hate to say it. I'm in episode 3 and watching the girl cry on the stairs was what made me shut this series off. Absolutely not believable at all and watching her cry made me cringe. What is she crying for? We barely know her as a character and now we are supposed to feel something for her? Is she good or is she bad? Come on! There are way too many secrets and mysteries and not enough answers. The kids acting in this show are trying way way too hard but I'm sure that has a lot to do with the scripting. "Spoon" is the creepiest kid ever. He's always in everyone's face trying to make them feel better & touching them constantly. In reality he comes across as the weird creepy neighbor who's trying to lure you over to their house. I gave this show a fair shot but this show is just simply not for me.

1899
(2022)

FANTASTIC Series
I don't care what anyone says, this series is absolutely mind blowing; fantastic! I read some reviews after the first couple of episodes of the series, and I was worried that I had started some thing that would end up being a waste of my time. This was absolutely not a waste of my time at all, far from it. 1899 is truly for someone who is awake and or trying to wake up from their own simulation! I have so many questions, and I hope they get answered in season two, hoping that there is a season two coming! Even without another season, this truly expanded my mind to places that I hadn't tapped into yet. This is not a regular show where you are simply entertained; no, this is so much more. Get ready, put your phone away, and take a wild ride that you never thought you'd be on!!!! 1 million stars!!!!!

I'm Your Woman
(2020)

It's unfortunately a NO
It's unfortunately a no from me. This movie started off fairly interesting and kept me hooked when Eddie was on the scene. When Eddie left the scene, all interest in the movie was gone. All we were left with was the secondary characters to Eddie's life and they were far from interesting unfortunately. As they explore their new way of life, as they try to figure out what was going on, it couldn't have been more daunting. I was pleading for something interesting to actually happen. The only reason why I wrote this review was to talk about the main character, Eddie's wife. Her breathing in the movie was so unnatural it made the movie almost impossible to watch. She breathes in short quick breaths, which makes it hard for the viewer to watch because the breathing is so quick, and it's actually quite loud coming through the TV screen. Her breathing was all I heard through the last half of the movie, it was awful and distracting and in some scenes wasn't even warranted. Awful.

Windfall
(2022)

Not what I was expecting
I don't understand why other reviews are so critical, this movie was fantastic. Completely shocking and quite a twist ending. The acting was great; Segal's drama acting has gotten so good over the years. I'll be honest, he wasn't always a believable drama actor to me in the past and I could always tell he still seemed a little "goofy" but I never noticed that behavior in Windfall at all. Completely believable acting from all the actors and they were all phenomenal. This is definitely worth the watch in my book. It was a tad slow and some of the other reviews pointed that out but I had time and I didn't feel like I needed to be rushed in anyway today so overall it was a fantastic watch.

Nanny
(2022)

Isn't there a movie like this already?
This movie is a distant memory of "GET OUT" and "US". The music and suspenseful loud sounds to get the audience's attention is tiring. I sat in the movie wondering "what the heck is going on and why is it taking so long to get there?". Was the story about the mother and the daughter or was it about the nanny and the daughter, or was it about the Nanny and her son? Half way through the movie I asked "What's the point of this movie!?". Every scene was another scenario of the nanny and her life/ work experiences and then we were meant to believe she had a mental illness and/or she was under black magic. It unfortunately wasn't interesting enough to keep my attention. The use of music and blank stares have taken the place of dialogue and story nowadays. I'm not a fan. I had heard of this movie on tiktok where people have said it was "wild and crazy!" But I didn't find it that way at all. Just simply boring after the first half, much like this review.

Behind Her Eyes
(2021)

Twist on a twist!
This show was absolutely stunning! On the last episode I was so torn up and I thought I knew what was going to happen... the crazy just got crazier. So many emotions! Definitely loved this show and the cast!

You Are My Home
(2020)

Ugh Alyssa Milano.
Turned it off as soon as I saw Alyssa Milano's face. The first sentence she spoke I could feel the hidden agenda spilling from her crusty lips. I feel bad for all the other actors who put in a lot of hard work, I felt like this was going to be a decently enjoyable movie. How unfortunate to not get to finish it bc Alyssa is in it. If it weren't for her loud political views, this would have been an easy watch.

Garden State
(2004)

Dumb ending
Zach Braff's character remained the same until the last 10 mins of the movie and somehow he becomes this gross weird mr. Miagi character handing out fortunes to help his friends and family feel good about him parting ways. It was a grotesque turn of events and it ruined the whole movie.

Master
(2022)

It was intriguing but slightly disappointing
As I watched this film, I had high hopes of an actual thriller/horror film, it did not deliver. I had many up and down emotions while watching and it almost felt like I was simultaneously viewing two different films. Maybe that's what the director/writer/producers wanted? A dichotomy if you will, to mess with my psyche on what I thought was coming but what actually never did. The message that was made clear at the end of the movie was disappointing. I say this because, to me, it has felt like the current world has desperately tried to make leaps and bounds when it comes to racism. This film sent the message to me that racism will never die and it's something we haven't even scratched the surface on. Or better yet, racism is something that light skinned people have only pretended to work on but secretly are still racist. I would have to disagree. Watch for yourself and come to your own conclusion. Overall, the film itself was made well and it was watchable but again, slightly disappointing.

Station Eleven
(2021)

Still deciding if I like it...
The Present day episodes are great! It's the futuristic episodes that I am trying to get on board with. It doesn't seem realistic enough for me to believe the story line. The acting of the symphony director seems to be lacking a bit too. Her character has been difficult to believe and I almost cringe a little when she's on screen. Like I said, I'm still deciding if I'm enjoying it. I'm still watching it so that should tell you that it has somewhat of an intrigue factor.

Encounter
(2021)

Unfortunately a waste of my time
Was not at all what it portrayed itself to be. This is a drama and in fact, NOT a sci-fi. If you're looking for sci-fi, move along. Acting was good but the story was boring.

Miss Americana
(2020)

Wow
This honestly made me want to give Taylor a hug and tell her it's gonna be okay. I don't really listen to her music these days, but even still, the real ness of this changed my view of her and who the media says she is. I'm so glad I watched.

Locke & Key
(2020)

AMAZING
Crazy amazing acting talent. It's thrilling, exciting, funny, romantic, and creepy, all that you would want in a show. It's completely entertaining and so addictive. I love this series!

The Goldfinch
(2019)

Fantastic
Great movie if you've never read the book and if you like a good mystery. People who have read the book are irritated, like they usually are. My thoughts are that it was mysterious, entertaining, thought provoking, emotional; as you connect with the characters, and an all around great film! If you're into all of that, give this a watch!!

Lore
(2017)

Gone down hill
Season 1 was incredible. I had vision for what I was watching because of the narrator and it was great! Season 2 gives me no vision. What am I watching? Just a series of different happenings? They're just weird stories that don't make any sense and I don't know why I'm watching it. The first season I felt like I was learning something and I was being guided along and the second season is just random stories that are not interesting at all. Season 1 gets 10 stars and season 2 gets 1 star in my own opinion!
