I was glad to see that this was recently on one of the movie channels, since the DVD isn't available from Netflix. I'd just read the book. As someone currently prescribed to Prozac, this was a must for me, to see how--if at all-- I could identify with the character from the book/movie. Some incidents were identifiable to me. The events depicted occurred over 20 years ago, but there are still many people on Prozac today. Coming to accept that you have depression may be hard for some people, but I came to accept it and learned not to be ashamed to admit I have been on this med. This film seems to convey that message. Don't be afraid to admit you feel depressed. You can be helped.

I read the book on which this movie is based in February and could not wait till the movie came out. For the next few months I watched trailer for the movie and was even more excited for the movie to come out. When it came out this past weekend, I went in excited and left enjoying it. I believe Ben Affleck was perfect for the male lead. And though I'd seen Rosamund Pike in only a few other movies, I though she was great as the wife. And the rest of the cast was great, too. It was a very suspenseful movie as was the book which I'd read in five days. It's been some time since I'd seen a movie that was two-and-half hours long, but this was worth the long running time. After months of waiting to see this, I was as pleased as I'd hoped I'd be. I will definitely be getting the DVD of this one. if you read the book, you must see the movie.

I waited for this to come to my town and was amazed at how much I loved this. I was greatly touched by this tale of a sullen and lonely young boy who is ignored by his broken family, his mother's overbearing boyfriend and his daughter. A trip to the boyfriend's summer home find them among a group of often-drunken summer neighbors. The boy, Duncan, feels even more isolated until he meets water-park owner Owen. Owen gives Duncan a job and becomes his unexpected friend.

I could really feel the boy's pain. This is the kind of story can be a little sad and a little funny, but heartfelt in the end. I'm the kind of person who enjoys this sort of thing once in a while.

Definitely see this one.

Until I came across this movie on Netflix, I had never heard of it. When I found about it, it seemed like it could be interesting. I decided to give it a try, and am glad to have done so. As I waited to receive this film, I wondered how it might turn out, if I would like it. I figured it maybe quite sad. Yes, it has some sad moments, but was very touching, and I enjoyed it. It was a little out of the ordinary for me, but I like to try something different once in a while. Very slow and introspective, but everything was worth watching. A young woman who has not seen her father since her mother's death returns to see him and find him living in his garage while his house is occupied by two strangers. A very fine cast in this film. Like myself, no one I know had ever heard this film either. After seeing and enjoying it, I am now suggesting that they see it, too. Some of the plot keywords on this site (eccentric, guitarist, drugs), along with WIll Ferrell as cast member, made one person I know think that it would be something he might enjoy. It was great to find something not so well-known and enjoy it enough to want to recommend it to others who also have no knowledge of what you've just found. I suggest all you haven't seen it, to do so.

I saw this when it first came out and have seen it several times since. I have the DVD. It's one of Drew Barrymore's best works and one that is worth seeing more than once.

Not being popular in high school was one f the things in the film I could relate to. I wasn't quite as tortured as Josie was (during her real high school days) or like Aldys, but I was never the go- to-the-major-party type either. The prom scene were the three popular girls fall victim to their own prank as Josie pushes way Aldys (the intended victim) is my favorite scene and I clapped when I first saw it.

I can still watch this movie today. it is excellent.

...and have finally decided to write a review. I saw it when it first came out. I bought a used VHS copy at Blockbuster, but having become accustomed to DVDs (I'd only bought a few movies on VHS and now have around 30 DVDs) I just had to get this one DVD. I'm glad I did, because of the deleted scenes, many of which are pretty fun.

I went to see it, having only heard a few reviews ahead of time. I'd never been a cheerleader, though I tried out once. Nevertheless the plot was great and bizarre. I mean, how many people actually get angry over stealing others' cheers? Seeing such things on national TV is probably where people come up with ideas. Just the same I still love watching this film. It is worth owning and seeing over and over.

If I can say I've had mixed feelings about anything, this would be one of them. I attempted to watch this once, on a dreary afternoon, and got sleepy. But I blame it on the weather, not on the film, as I gave it another shot and changed my opinion and my rating. It wasn't so bad. Having fallen asleep on a dreary day made me miss most of the film, and upon rewatching it I realized what I had missed and my feelings toward the movie changed, as if I hadn't really seen it to begin with. Especially the bizarre ending. I am now considering getting this one. Some things are worth another chance.

It had some funny moments even if comedy wasn't the intent. Loved Maggie Gyllenhaal's character. She is a wonderful actress and I would love to see more of her works.

A word of advice--if you haven't seen it, don't do so on a dreary day, especially if such a day causes you to be sleepy or depressed. You'll thank me for this :-)

I knew I wanted to see this when I saw a preview for it. It turned out to be even better than I might have expected. Ice skating is hardly one of my favorite things (I'm not a sports person), but the preview convinced me to see the film. And I'm glad I did. I'm already planning to get this one on DVD.

Seeing the two leads in those skating outfits was one of the best parts of the film. I thought seeing the ladies in the audience throwing their undergarments at Chazz was quite ridiculous, but good for some laughs. And the two skates were quite opposite a macho sex addict and an effeminate "Pretty boy" type.

Whie the subject o f this movie was not one of my things, the film was s till worth watching and I would love to see it again before the DVD comes out

I missed this in theaters, but rented it through Netflix and surprisingly enjoyed it. I then bought the DVD.

One thing about the movie was the character's shyness and awkwardness, something I can totally relate to. Even though I'm a woman, I feel I identified with the character very well. I always like it when I see a film character I can identify with, even though the plot elements are a bit far-fetched, such the paintball gun shooting (with no protection) and the confrontation initiation. I thought the girl was very beautiful, in an enviable way.

I've never seen "Anger Managemnt," but may just add it to my Netflix cue after seeing this movie. I always try to find similar movies when I find one I particular enjoy. The Netflix page for "School for Scoundrels" said it was enjoyed by member who enjoyed "You, Me and Dupree," another film form last year that I really loved. Perhaps that was how I unexpectedly enjoyed "School for Scoundrels."

I recommend "School for Scoudrels."

I've seen this twice and am already planning to get the DVD! I found it hilarious. I liked "What About Bob?" and saw many similarities in "You, Me, and Dupree." Both feature annoying house guests whose antics disrupt the family's plans and lifestyle. Nonetheless, the house guest shows a sensitive and caring side. It was pleasing to see such a character represented in this film. Dupree's poetry fetish (we don't get to hear any samples, however) comes as one of the surprises as well as his idolizing Lance Armstrong.

All cast members were memorable, even those in small roles. I'm not a big fan of any particular actor in the film, but have seen some good stuff from each, and the premise of this film was enough for me to put this on my must-see list for this summer and on my must- have DVD list.

As I said earlier, I liked "What About Bob?" and am open to seeing anything with a similar premise. I'm not the kind of person who says "This film is better than that one," however. I see each one for its own worth, and "You, Me and Dupree" is one film I have found some great stuff in. The fouled-up interview and the comments on working on Columbus Day and Victory Over Japan Day are some of the best lines, along with the "-ness" lines. (Need to post some quotes on this site!) And the whole thing about the chicken wings (a favorite food of mine).

Overall, the film was worth a few laughs and there were many coming from the others in the audience. I came way both times I saw it with a good feelings--to me this a feel-good movie. I wholeheartedly recommend it--you'll be laughing!
