Before watching in the theater my expectations were actually pretty damn low. Literally 80% of the so called "critics" online were just trashing on the movie before it even came out. And even though my expectations were low i still decided to watch because i love Indiana Jones anyways
Once the movie was released, people said that the first 20 minutes were pretty good but then the movie would just go downhill. Well, i watched the 20 minutes but the movie just kept being consistently good? And honestly, i had the time of my life watching the movie, seriously
It just felt like an authentic Indiana Jones adventure but with Indy in his 70s (in the movie ofc)
The actions scenes were perfect, the CGI was on point, the de-aging segment was just CLASSIC Indiana Jones, the acting was amazing and everything about this movie just felt like an authentic adventure.
I still think that some parts of the movie, like the underwater part couldve been better, it felt a bit unecessary and out of pace and i also think that Helena and Teddy could've been more developed as characters throughout the movie, mainly Teddy
Another thing, i feel like people are just not watching the movie before actually rating it? Helena didnt take Indy's role as the main character AT ALL. In the movie you could clearly see that Indy still was the one in the right + he was clearly the one with more wisdom, which was shown in multiple scenes. People also complain about him being depressed in the movie but.. Do you expect a 70yo man that lost his son and divorced his wife to be like 30, 40yo Indy? Seriously? And even though all of that happened the movie didnt feel depressing as most people say too. Yeah it was definitely the darkest Indy movie but it also had a lot of happy moments like Indy meeting his old friends again and obviously, the ending. Something that i really like about this movie is how they portray, well, becoming old. The movie actually respects the fact that Indy is old now, his good times are all in the past but he is still allowed to enjoy new moments and that was honestly a great touch which made me appreciate that Harrison is still here with us recording a new movie and actually having fun with it too.
But in general? God, the movie was fantastic, and im honestly satisfied with the ending too, it was appropriate and just what Indy deserved. I left the theater incredibly surprised and just full of joy too. In my opinion i would probably rank this movie above Temple of Doom as the third best indy movie.
