Pig
(2021)

Nic Cage's semi bi annual great performance
Can't help but see the elevator pitch being John Wick but he's a chef. However, it's more than that. A perfectly pleasant, quiet, contemplative, and ultimately, solid exploration of loss. Nic Cage forgoes a signature freakout, and is rather subdued but his anger, sadness, and contempt for the world around him is ever present.

Green Book
(2018)

Guess what everybody... racism... is bad
Driving Ms Daisy role reversal. Even won best picture for some ungodly reason, in a year with Roma The Favourite and Blackkklansman. A revolutionary picture where a white man has to teach a black man how to be black. Vigo Mortenson is just a goomba, a ridiculous Italian stereotype. Mahershala elevates the bones of the script to something slightly better. Over all, Oscar bait of the highest order, the fact that any one of the old white academy voters were tricked into voting for this forgettable movie is beyond me.

Titans
(2018)

An odd attempt... at something
This show feels like it was conseptualized with the same pen strokes as man of steel. In that it feels like the studio's reaction to the success of the dark knight trilogy and takes its place among the attempts to create a "gritty" and "realistic" universe for DC. None of these attempts have since succeeded critically and as of late, in the box office as well. There is certainly a place for this kind of tone, in Batman stories, I do not feel it is at home with the teen titans (or Superman) who throughout their history have been coined as relatively light hearted. I find that that light tone is integral to the dynamics between these characters and ultimately that is lost here. The tone is not the only detriment however, the acting from the leads is less than stellar, and brings into focus some pretty poor writing. Again this feels like a show written in 2009ish and lacks a perception of modern opinions. Poor writing, bad acting, along with a misplaced and misused tone combine to form a very mediocre experience. Watch it if you're a fan of man of steel or bvs, but otherwise stear clear of this intirely uninspired and uninteresting plot.

Aquaman
(2018)

Wow... just wow
That was actually terrible, Jason Momoa is actually just a frat bro they picked off the street... amber heard was definitely not cast for her acting ability... and everyone else is just as bad. The only redeeming quality is the sfx, they're very good even if they look like the gungan city from episode 1. It was paced awfully, written awfully. And OH GOD the music was atrocious, I'm pretty sure I can find the weird string music from the desert scenes on imovie. And PITBULL!!! What is this 2006?! Just wow, the only good scene in the movie is the trench, which speak to wan's horror roots. But Jesus the choices made here are baffling. I don't want to be over-dramatic but I'm pretty sure this just ruined the genre for me. Jesus

Bohemian Rhapsody
(2018)

Yes queen is amazing but...
This is an extremely barebones biopic that frankly does nothing to shake up the most tired and overdone genre in Hollywood, the music is great because queen is great and I understand how that may shade someone's opinion of the film but ultimately it is extremely average. Yes Rami Malik is good as mercury, yes the live aid recreation was stunning, but it still falls into the same old tropes as every other biopic. I think a model that should be adapted more is the Steve Jobs biopic by Aaron Sorkin, it is a series of vignettes where we are shown in concentration the exact character of the person in question, at least it was different and interesting whereas this was frankly boring. If you've got a Spotify account just stick to that, because frankly you would get just as much out it as going to see this movie.
