Midnight Mass
(2021)

God and His Demons
A great show with masterful work of dread and suspense from Mike Flanagan. The show is so much Stephen King, from the dialogue to the sitting, I could not think how this show is not based on Stephen King work.

Really liked how the story is built up, slow burn and carefully dosed details... meanwhile the characters are also developing.

The acting is simply amazing. These characters really come to life showing human complexity and subtlety in every scene. There isn't a weak actor in this series. Each actor gave it their all.

The show is definitely not for everyone's taste, it's very intelligent, deep and not everyone's cup of tea.

On a side note, after I finished the show I felt this is could be a spiritual prequel to the movie Daybreakers from 2009.

The Northman
(2022)

Robert Eggers can't do wrong
The Northman is just a good old fashioned revenge tale but with Vikings, with the beautiful vision of one of the best working directors of our days, this film is just fantastic from start to finish.

Relic
(2020)

I'm losing Hope in Indy Films
I'm tired of the Indy cheap films, they always on shoestring budget, can't do anything interesting, until the ending so they can throw some money on the screen, the story has been done to death, the acting is bad, the script is awful. Just another waster.

These films are not supposed to be shown to us audience, these movies just as showcase to the upcoming filmmakers, so they can show these small films to the big studios, so they can get the big budgets.

His House
(2020)

Mixed Bag
His House is a mixed bag, on one hand the visuals are breathtaking; it's well shot and wonderfully acted.

One the other hand the script is very disjointed and incoherent. The script, if full of plot points and themes that looks from the outside very putt, but if you just pay attention to the script you see it's confused and in the end not put together well.

Possessor
(2020)

Cronenberg JR. Will Possess Your Mind
I watched the movie in my house while I'm under the alcohol... and the visuals took me on a beautiful trip.

The film is very provocative and respects the intelligence of the viewer.

Last Night in Soho
(2021)

I Could Not Finish It
I can't believe this POS of a movie from the director of Baby Driver!!

I watched the first 35 minutes of it and couldn't force myself to watch it to the end.

Still Alice
(2014)

Unfortunately The Movie is not as Good as the Novel
Still Alice is a great novel; it's heartbreaking, emotional and very realistic take on one of the most common problems we humans are dealing with.

Unfortunately the movie adaptation didn't reach that level. The best thing about the movie adaptation is Julianne Moore, she is very good in the role of Alice and it's a hard performance to pull especially in how Alice is young to have Alzheimer.

When the movie filled with me is in how many things they ignore from the novel, the novel is not long, it's just 252 pages and there is a lot of things in the novel that would have made the movie much deeper and more effective.

From a filmmaking standpoint, the movie looks like it's a TV movie, the cinematography is bland, the acting from the rest of the cast is not memorable and the music was nothing.

I highly recommend reading the novel and skipping this adaptation.

Calibre
(2018)

When The World is Against You
Calibre is a great movie from the UK, it's worth every second. From the beginning, you will fell the growing intensity. The cinematography is fantastic and the acting is very good. The movie is a nice mix of horror, action and increasing level of danger.

The Night House
(2020)

The Ending Ruined the Entire Movie
Rebecca Hall is great as usual, but she's so above the story and the script. Nothing out of the norm in The Night House, the cinematography, the production design, the score and the horror is all there, nothing special. The only thing this movie had the potential in it, is the mystery of what's really happening.

If you have IQ level above room temperature, you will not care for anyone in the end. You will hate everybody in the end.

Oxygène
(2021)

In Life No One Can Hear You Scream
Another great movie from Alexandre Aja, Oxygen is the definition of a claustrophobic thriller. Mélanie Laurent wakes in a cryogenic chamber with no memory, no answers, no one to help her and her chamber is quickly running out of oxygen. A great movie for the majority of its time, Mélanie Laurent gave a fantastic performance. Alexandre Aja put the viewer wondering and doubting what's real. Great music, editing and the production design are very good.

In my opinion, Oxygen is a spiritual sequel to The Island (2005), and a spiritual prequel to Pandorum (2009) and a very good remake of Buried (2010).

My only negative with Alexandre Aja's Oxygen is the ending; unfortunately it's not at all open for interpretation.

The Matrix Resurrections
(2021)

What did People Expect from a Movie has The Word Resurrection in it?
In my honest opinion, the matrix franchise is one of the worst franchises in movie history. I think the first matrix was ok sci-fi action movie, I was too young when the first one was out (born in 1997), so I when I watched the first one I thought it's an ok movie. The two sequels were bad movie, especially the third one.

This one is also bad, boring and uninteresting sci-fi movie that have nothing new or unique to bring to the table. Don't expect a lot from a movie has the word resurrection in its people. The acting was painfully bad; I did not care for anyone. The action sequences are bad, boring and uncreative. The script is unreasonably awful, the movie did not have an identity, I think the reason is that The Wachowskis are one of the most criminally overrated directors of all time.

Final thoughts: Watch this If you want to waste two and half hours of your life on a bad, boring and long movie, the choice is yours.

The Humans
(2021)

The Only Great Thing in this Directorial Debut is Performances
The Humans is a decent debut from director Stephen Karam, a lot of people praising Richard Jenkins and Jayne Houdyshell for their great acting like this the first time we see these two actors give great acting. The rest of the cast is ok nothing special. The biggest problem is the story; these humans have problems of ordinary people, so there is nothing special about their situation or their lives. The movie is too long and unfortunately did not have the great dialog or the script to earn that run time.

Nou fo
(2021)

Very Disappointing
I had high expectations for this, for god sake the movie called "Raging Fire" so I'm very justified in having high expectations.

The movie makers thought they were making the next Heat or Den of Thieves with this one. Sorry to disappoint you, but the story was boring and not interesting, the script was awful, too much uninteresting talking and some really bad acting from few actors. The cat and mouse game was uninteresting; we know everything that's about to happen, so there were no surprises.

Everybody is coning for that Hong Kong action, spectacular stunts and crazy set-pieces. There is very little action camper to the lengthy two hours run time, to be excite, there is just 50 minutes of action in this two hour movie, and not all the action had good editing.

There is enjoyment in Raging Fire, it's not a bad movie, it had a few action scenes, so don't have high expectations going into it.

Wrong Turn
(2021)

I Did Not for a Second Imagine that a Wrong Turn Reboot will be on my List of the Best Movies of 2021
I did not watch any Wrong Turn movie, did not find a story of three cannibalistic inbred hillbillies killers interesting to be honest.

I watched this one of the decent word of mouth, it gained, but went to this with very low expectations, and what a surprise, I liked a lot, it's not the best horror movie of the year, but it had the 3-D (Deep, Dark and Different), so I liked it.

Don't read my review and expect a fantastic horror movie. There is a plot holes and questionable things in it and some things don't make that sense, but like I said it's a great horror watch, you will have the kills and the blood, but it's very different take on the Wrong Turn franchise.

I will love to see a sequel out of this.

Yakuza Princess
(2021)

What a Dull and Uninteresting Movie
What should you expect from a movie called Yakuza Princess?! The answer is absolutely nothing but a giant waste of time.

Watch this If you want to lose 2 hours of your life.

Antlers
(2021)

Nothing New or Special in Antlers
It's not that anything presented here is bad, but it is all so surface level. The themes hit on in the first two acts, including abuse, are never hit on again.

The big issue is the lack of exploration; it needed more of pretty much everything. More character work, more thematic development, more mythology and more horror.

The plot plays out exactly as you expect, the third act holds the inevitable confrontation, and the final few moments just feel too conventional.

The overall result of Antlers is a very forgettable horror movie and a waste of time.

Blood Quantum
(2019)

This Subgenre is Dead as Old Rotten Zombie
Starting with positives; the cinematography is amazing and the practical effects are very gory and cool.

The negatives: it's another low budget zombie movie. The acting was terrible and the screenplay was all over the place. The story did not bring anything new to this dead subgenre; we have seen every scenario that had a zombie in it.

The movie had some solid scenes but overall I was expecting more.

The Social Dilemma
(2020)

You are Not in Control
If you're not paying for the product, then you are the product.

All social media are doing is just profiting by taking hours, days and years of your lifetime, and just like that you become another number in the algorithm, alone in the dark of your empty mind.

Great documentary with a little bit of drama in it, it's a quick and very informative.

Sophie's Choice
(1982)

The Holocaust is Watching This Movie for a Second Time
The runtime fell like ages, the idiot director thought of making everything slow and pretentious as possible so it seems the film is so deep and meaningful, but it's not.

The acting was ok, nothing special, Meryl Streep was terrible.

Avoid this, by all means, unless you want to waste two and a half hours on a drama with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I left the film feeling nothing.

Benedetta
(2021)

My Jaw Was on the Ground Through The Entire Film
This picture from Paul Verhoeven is simply a masterpiece, I could not believe this is based on a true story, it's a wild ride from start to finish.

Religion, power, sex, love, betrayal, greed, corruption and death in the most beautiful way you can imagine.

It's a Paul Verhoeven picture, so don't hesitate because every minute of this masterpiece is worth your time.

Event Horizon
(1997)

God Cannot Reach This Horizon
Alien meets Hellraiser meets The Shining meets The Amityville Horror and you get Event Horizon, but is it good as these horror classics?!.

It's a decent Si-Fi, horror, great practical effects and prediction design.

The story is ok, the script is horrible and the acting is somewhat bad.

It's not a boring watch, but definitely not a classic.

Judas and the Black Messiah
(2021)

A Wonderful Film, But It Will Leave You Feeling Very Angry
Judas and the Black Messiah is a powerful film, nobody will be thinking after watching it, It's not a typical biopic, it's a showcase of the real problems in the world, the story is small in impacting the world, but the massage is so globe and every real human being can really understand it massage. Shaka King pulled the impossible, by bringing the story of the Black Panthers and Fred Hampton to the big screen using the capitalists money.

Dangerous
(2021)

Is This a Comedy?!
I was baffled through the entire thing, every cast member was laughable and I thought they forgot how to act, Mel Gibson is just a name in on the poster, and his role is nothing. It seems that this story has been written by a 5 year old.

I honestly can't describe this movie, but in a few and simple words, it's boring, laughable and a waste of time.

One Shot
(2021)

A Masterpiece in Action
This is a wonderful showcase in how action should be done, this a smoking gun proof that you don't need a hundred of millions Hollywood budget to make great action movie.

Don't wait to be taken by a great story or characters or even great acting, this just pure action movie with the one and only Scott Adkins, he and the editor who seamlessly gave us the impression that the movie was shot in one take. Great job James Nunn, you and the crew gave the movie lovers a wonderful action movie.

Hotel Mumbai
(2018)

How would you feel, when you stand at the deadly end of a Kalashnikov?
I asked myself this question a lot when watching Hotel Mumbai.

A movie that is not like any other movie "based on real events", but it is a very difficult experience and is not for the faint-hearted, a film that will make your heart beat like never before, a film that raises tension, hate and fear, when you see what point humanity can reach at the bottom of the abyss.

The real events are... the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008. At the hands of Takfiri terrorists, whose only goal is...to take as many lives as possible. A very difficult film and I repeat not for the faint of heart.

It seems that the director (Anthony Mars) intended to direct the film in this way to put the viewer in the heart of the terrifying event.
