James Mattis, the retired Us Marine Corps general who this week was appointed as Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense, may be familiar to viewers of HBO’s “Generation Kill.”
That’s because he was portrayed in multiple episodes of the 2008 miniseries by actor Robert Burke. Based on the award-winning book by Evan Wright, the seven-part show followed the highly trained Marines of First Recon Battalion through the first 40 days of the Iraq war.

The Machine is on the move, but the big question as CBS’ Person of Interest returns tonight at 10/9c (new time slot alert!) is not where it’s gone to but what it’s up to. Plus, Season 3 promises a richer cast of players, now that rascally Root and steely Shaw are keepers. When I see two episodes in a row that disappoint, I start getting worried. I start having flashbacks to most of season 2, where I spent my Thursday nights wailing in utter woe at most (not all) of season 2's episodes. Now, I can safely say, I am not impressed with the subplot of this half of the season: the "wedge" being driven between Team Lisbon while hunting out Red John's new mole. This episode of The Mentalist (TV) probably has one of the most boring cases I've seen in a while. While a Mixed Martial Arts fight is raging upstairs, a vendor lady finds a dead girl in a locker backstage. This is probably a good thing, because it saves Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) from the worst date Ever! Dead girl is a journalist/author named Charlotte (Jaimi Paige) who was there writing a story on the fighters Manny Falcco (Rey Valentin...

Episode Title: "Victoria"
Written By: Kalinda Vazquez & Sonny Postiglione
Story: Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) is contacted by Gerard (Erick Avari), a bodyguard protecting Princess Victoria (Christina Cole) of the British royal family. Victoria's jealous husband has marked her for assassination following the revelation that she's fallen in love with Tony (Rey Valentin), a New York City ambulance driver.
Chance is forced on the run alongside Victoria and with the help of Winston (Chi McBride) and Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley), he must thwart the secret service agents that have turned against the princess and bring her husband to justice.
Risk Assessment: "Victoria" is far from my favorite episode of "Human Target," for two reasons in particular. First, I'm barely willing to accept that one secret service agent could find it justifiable to assassinate his protectorate for the sake of preserving the greater royal name, let alone the vast majority of the secret service team.

I have to admit, I am a big C. Thomas Howell fan…at least based on one movie. The Hitcher, from 1986 starring good old C. Thomas and perennial psychopath Rutger Hauer, was a classic horror/thriller film with two actors doing brilliant work, and will always be embedded in my subconscious as a wild ride and featuring one of the most maniacal performances of all time from Mr. Hauer. The years after The Hitcher, unfortunately, have not been kind to co-star C. Thomas Howell, who has starred in one low budget disaster after another (The Day The Earth Stopped, anyone?), doing movies just for the sake of paying the mortgage. I do, however, see the appeal of starring in The Jailhouse. For the first time since The Hitcher, C. Thomas Howell is fun again, channeling his own Rutger Hauer and relishing the role of a sociopathic deputy. Too bad the...
