Originally announced in April 2023, the New Jedi Order signifies Star Wars’ return to theaters since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
An untitled Star Wars film is set for release on May 22, 2026, a date Lucasfilm had not officially confirmed until earlier this year when they revealed The Mandalorian and Grogu, a sequel to the hit Disney+ series, with filming scheduled to begin soon.
However, recent reports tell a different story: the movie is not only far from starting production, but it is currently on hold due to undisclosed development issues.
These rumors come from Daniel Richtman, a reliable industry insider and leaker known for his solid track record. He shared this information on his paid Patreon account, although specific details were not disclosed. As it stands, the movie is not expected to begin production until 2025.

Star Wars: Rey’s Theme Becomes First Music to be Played on Violin in Space - Main Image
Star Wars may be a space fantasy, but its impact on real-life space exploration is staggering; influencing millions to fall in love with spaceships and galaxies far far away.
There have been multiple attempts to bring Star Wars-related things to space, but one particular violinist/astronaut Sarah Gillis has pulled one small string for man, but one giant string for Star Wars fandom.
Rey’s Theme Played in Space
In a recently released video from @PolarisProgram, Gillis is playing Rey’s theme from the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy on violin, making it the first piece of musicever played on violin in space. They even got a full orchestra backing Gillis with her performance.
Check this out:
What’s great is that they even got legendary Star Wars composer John Williams to collaborate with them for the concert.

Swedish film director Niclas Larsson’s debut work Mother, Couch is a prime example of an interesting idea bogged down by artistic demands, with the latter being forced upon the said idea and not stemming out of it. The film is based on an unusual premise, as two brothers have to face a difficult time when their elderly mother decides to sit on a couch at a furniture store with no intention of leaving. The dialogue, screenplay, and overall pacing all make it seem like Mother, Couch does not want to take you forward, and the film ultimately ends up feeling too empty and insignificant to watch.
Spoiler Alert
What is the film about?
Loosely based on a Swedish novel named “Mamma i soffa” by Jerker Virdborg, Mother, Couch begins in an empty parking lot with a man running towards an adjacent building, clutching a women’s handbag. Two lines...

Daisy Ridley’s career soared to new heights largely due to her role as Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, which revitalized the franchise for a new generation. She first appeared as Rey, a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku, who plays a key role in the fight against the First Order.
However, the sequel trilogy faced criticism from some fans, who took issue with Ridley’s character and perceived her as a “Mary Sue.”
Ridley has faced challenges with the franchise’s reception, admitting that the criticism has affected her health. However, she’s ready to return, now older, wiser, and more experienced, as a standalone movie titled New Jedi Order is currently in development.
While we await updates on her upcoming film, Ridley recently sat down with Canal+ to rank her top 5 favorite Star Wars movies.

Daisy Ridley’s career has shot up to reach the stars mostly thanks to her portrayal of Rey in the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy, which revitalized the franchise for a new generation. She made her debut as Rey, a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku who becomes central to the battle against the First Order.
The sequel trilogy however wasn’t without its criticism as plenty of people were bothered by Ridley’s character and its Mary Sue nature.
Ridley struggled with the franchise’s reception and she admitted that all the criticism has taken a toll on her health as well, but the actress is ready to return, now older, wiser, and more experienced, as a standalone movie is currently being in development under a working title “New Jedi Order.”

Hold on to your lightsabers, for Daisy Ridley, everyone’s favorite Rey of sunshine, has just unveiled the list of her top 5 Star Wars films. The list, which might as well be a throwback to her envious resume, featured a certain amount of self-love and true admiration for the franchise.

France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron has been awarded $8,800 in damages after two French women made false claims that she was transgender.
In December 2021, Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey were featured in a four-hour YouTube video, during which they said Brigitte was born a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux, the name of her brother.
The transphobic claims against her were used to try and damage her husband French President Emmanuel Macron’s re-election campaign in 2022 by far-right French groups.

Disney has hit a wall regarding Lucasfilm and Star Wars projects. Numerous films were announced but never materialized. We are still set to get “The Mandalorian and Grogu” film, but the last we heard, a script wasn’t even completed for the Rey film rumored at one point to be called “Heir to the Empire.” Disney+ has lower viewership with each “Star Wars” show they put out. “The Acolyte” was a complete dud, and a second season was canceled.
Maybe now it’s time to go back to formula and bring back fan-favorite characters / actors to headline a “Star Wars” show or film.
Enter Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor.

There’s been a great disturbance in the Force, as if dozens of salty voices suddenly cried out over The Acolyte and were suddenly silenced.
And no, I’m not talking about the “toxic right-wing male YouTubers” or whoever The Acolyte fans want to blame for its cancellation. Rather, I’m talking about The Acolyte fans themselves, who are so furious over the Disney Plus series cancellation that they’ve taken to publicly shaming Lucasfilm as “cowards” in multiple articles and are even attempting to coordinate demonetization campaigns on Twitter/X against YouTubers who they are blaming for the show’s cancellation.
While it’s natural for fans to be upset about a series cancelation, the assessment that it was a handful of YouTubers who got Disney’s incredibly expensive streaming show canceled by complaining about it is incorrect on so many levels.

Star Wars is a vast franchise with hundreds of characters spread across various media, including movies, live-action shows, games, books, graphic novels, and animated series. With so many characters, determining the “worst” can be quite a challenge.
On platforms like Ranker, it can be difficult to pinpoint “the most hated” characters since the bottom 200 or so spots are often filled with minor characters who are not necessarily disliked but rather aren’t well-known enough to receive more votes. To narrow it down, we focused on the first 100 characters in the rankings and identified the lowest-ranking live-action characters from that group. Let’s find out who the least popular characters in the Star Wars universe are.

Star Wars is a massive franchise that spans hundreds of characters across a variety of media such as movies, live-action shows, games, books, graphic novels, animated series, etc, so this is why determining who is the worst is quite the challenge.
Even in places such as Ranker, looking at the lists it’s difficult to see who is “the most hated” based on rankings alone since 200 or so last places are largely irrelevant characters that are not unnecessarily unpopular but simply aren’t known enough to get more votes. We used a different approach and decided to focus only on the first 100 characters and then choose the lowest-ranking live-action characters from that list. Let’s see who is the least popular in the Star Wars franchise.

We haven't had a Star Wars movie in theaters since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, although there have been lots of fits, starts and stops since then. But know that the wheel has never stopped turning. The executives at Lucasfilm and Disney are sitting high on their black thrones planning future visits to the galaxy far, far away. We're getting a Mandalorian movie, a movie about Rey from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and a film from Shawn Levy, best known right now as the director behind the hugely successful Deadpool & Wolverine.
Again, I'll say that lots of filmmakers have started to make Star Wars movies in the past few years only for the projects to fall apart, including Taika Waititi, Damon Lindelof, Rian Johnson, Patty Jenkins and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss. It's a spaceship graveyard over there. But it seems like Disney has been...

It was reported earlier this year that Sigourney Weaver was in talks to join The Mandalorian & Grogu, which would continue her domination of the science fiction genre. While speaking with Deadline, Weaver confirmed that the Star Wars film is her next project and teased she actually got to meet Grogu.

I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest at the end of the year.” There’s no word on who Weaver will be playing in The Mandalorian & Grogu, but she’s always a fine addition to any project, so I’m pumped to see her join the Star Wars universe.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for "Alien: Romulus."
"Alien: Romulus" brings us a new chapter in the beloved sci-fi horror franchise full of deadly Xenomorphs, black goo, and the terror of space — where no one can hear you scream. However, unlike "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant," the latest installment doesn't take place before Ridley Scott's original 1979 classic "Alien" starring Sigourney Weaver. Instead, "Romulus" takes place 20 years after the events of the original "Alien," placing it nearly four decades before the timeline of James Cameron's sequel "Aliens," which unfolds 57 years after "Alien." Everyone on the same page?
Because of the proximity "Romulus" has to "Alien," and due to the fact that lead actor Cailee Spaeny ("Civil War") is in her mid-20s, there was a rampant rumor that her character would end up being Ripley's daughter, a character named Amanda previously portrayed in the "Alien: Isolation" video game.

Take a look at actress Daisy Ridley aka 'Rey' from "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", posing for the August 2024 issue of “Women’s Health” magazine, wearing Norma Kamali, Pascale Monvoisin, Pamela Love and a whole lot more, photographed by Jonny Marlow:
"...I was actually sacked from my first job," said Ridley. "It was at a workshop for a short film this poet had written, about when she used to work in a strip club. After the first week, I was told not to come back.
"Then I auditioned for this agency. I got an advertisement first, and then something else, which I got fired from. It was soul-destroying. And then the next thing I got, I thought was going to be my big break, and they cut the role.
"It was only the year that I started auditioning for 'Star Wars' when I really started getting roles.

Disney’s latest Star Wars project, The Acolyte, was at the center of numerous debates since its release and was, at the same time, both a victim of review-bombing and a project that received a lot of fan support. The fans loved to debate the episodes as they came out, and while a lot of debates had been focused on irrelevant issues, there were those that were related to the canon and, thus, quite relevant.
However, The Acolyte ended after eight episodes, and the fans are now eager for more Star Wars material, particularly as many franchise devotees believe that The Acolyte‘s climactic final episode managed to redeem the show. We know that Skeleton Crew is coming up next – later this year – but Lucasfilm has confirmed that some movies are in the works as well.

There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan in terms of quantity. There’s more Star Wars on screen and on the page now than ever before in the franchise’s history. From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want to right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.
Interestingly enough, Star Wars‘ hopes on the big screen now rest with The Mandalorian, the same franchise that launched the galaxy far, far away’s TV push. Out in 2026, The Mandalorian and Grogu, a continuation of the stories told in the hit Disney+ series, will be the first new Star Wars movie since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker received mixed reactions from fans, particularly regarding Ridley’s character, Rey. Many felt her development seemed rushed and lacked a clear explanation, and her lineage and its related expectations were disappointing.
Daisy Ridley has previously discussed her struggles with coming to terms with sudden fame and the intense pressures of being part of the Star Wars franchise.
It appears that Ridley’s challenges are multiplying, as she recently revealed to Woman’s Health that she has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease. While filming Young Woman and the Sea, Ridley consulted an endocrinologist about symptoms like fatigue, weight loss, and hand tremors, which led to the diagnosis. Reflecting on her experience, Ridley shared:

‘The Last Jedi’ and ‘The Rise of the Skywalker’ weren’t well-received movies when it comes to fans, especially some aspects of Ridley’s character Rey, who fans believe developed too quickly without any sort of logical explanation. Also, her lineage and expectations related to it were disappointing.

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley revealed in a new interview with Women’s Health that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease last September after experiencing concerning symptoms. The 29-year-old British star, best known for portraying Rey in the blockbuster sci-fi franchise, initially dismissed hot flashes, weight loss and fatigue while filming her psychological thriller Magpie.
“I thought I just felt poorly due to the stress of such an intense role,” Ridley told the magazine. However, after seeking medical attention, she received confirmation that she had Graves’ disease – an autoimmune disorder causing an overactive thyroid. The condition primarily impacts women aged 20-40 and if left untreated can result in blood clots, weakening bones and heart issues.
Graves’ disease causes the immune system to produce antibodies that stimulate the thyroid gland to overproduce hormones. According to the National Institutes of Health, symptoms may include rapid heartbeat, eye swelling, hand trembling and mood changes.

Daisy Ridley has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease while speaking with Women’s Health.
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to an overactive thyroid gland. The Star Wars actress said that she was diagnosed last September after experiencing some strange symptoms during the production of Magpie, a psychological thriller about a married couple who find their lives turned upside down.
“I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly,’” said Ridley. After experiencing symptoms which included a racing heart rate, weight loss, fatigue, and hand tremors, Ridley was encouraged to see an endocrinologist, who said that Graves’ can make one feel “tired but wired.” Ridley realized that she had also been feeling super irritable among her other symptoms. “It was funny, I was like ‘Oh, I just thought I was annoyed at the world,’” she said,...

One of the major complaints has been that Star Wars villains are becoming less compelling. However, our colleague Liz Declan from ScreenRant recently published an opinion piece expressing her enthusiasm for the franchise’s new villains, suggesting that the series is finally heading in the right direction.
Declan argues that the Sequel Trilogy struggled with its villains for two main reasons.

The comically spooky franchise of Ghostbusters has always been greatly cherished by fans, save for the 2016 remake, of course, which nosedived toward destruction, both critically (for the most part) and commercially.

Things had not been looking pretty for the paranormal comedy from the get-go. When the very first trailer dropped, it turned social media into a blazing inferno of condemnation in its wake.
While the all-female cast contributed to the film’s fallout – courtesy of a deluge of sexist backlash – the lackluster storyline which seemed to fizzle out with every scene also played a considerable role in Ghostbusters‘ failure.

Isolation, lurking predators, unpredictable conditions—the deep blue has its own set of perils, which can make survival a daunting challenge. But even the toughest hurdles cast by nature pale in comparison when the evil depths of manmade horrors surface—something that Dead Sea, a survival thriller directed by Phil Volken focuses on. Following a jet-ski accident, two friends find themselves drifting in the open ocean, and when they are rescued eventually, the duo are subjected to a worse fate than what the unfathomable depths might have offered them. Despite having everything well set for a proper isolation thriller, Dead Sea fumbles in its execution, as at the end, it feels like a missed opportunity to not tighten the atmospheric tension. Add to that a very simplistically concocted climax, the movie badly lacks the thrill factor and ends up sinking amidst numerous average flicks of the same genre.

Star Wars is undoubtedly one of the most important franchises of all time. The world of Star Wars is a truly amazing and exceptionally large fictional universe, and despite the fact that Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm led to a larger revamp of the canon and non-canon works, most fans still rely on the old distinctions, which is far more inclusive and expansive than the current, official canon which has been significantly reduced by Disney.
Despite the fans constantly complaining about the current state of the franchise, Star Wars projects are still doing very well and the whole situation is more than great as far as the future is concerned. But, in this report, we are going to go back in time a bit.

It’s no secret that Star Wars fandom is in crisis. Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, fans have observed a decline in storytelling quality. The issues began with the sequel trilogy and reached a peak with the recent release of ‘The Acolyte,’ the latest Star Wars installment.
The stories no longer resonate as they once did, and there could be various reasons for this. George Lucas recently remarked, in the context of the prequel trilogy, that fans’ expectations might have changed now that they are adults, while the movies are still essentially aimed at children.
Some attribute various instances of review-bombing to simple hatred of female and diverse representation in live-action projects, with the latest example being ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ whose cast and crew faced unprecedented abuse on social media. The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle, as the issues began long before ‘The Acolyte’ and stem from the quality of the stories.

The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle, as the issues began long before ‘The Acolyte’ and stem from the quality of the stories.

It’s not a secret that Star Wars fandom is facing a crisis. Ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm, fans have noted the decrease in the quality of storytelling. The problems started as far back as the sequel trilogy and culminated a few weeks ago when ‘The Acolyte,’ the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise, was released.
The stories just don’t hit the way they used to, and that could be due to several reasons. George Lucas himself recently commented on that in the context of the prequel trilogy, saying that perhaps fans have different expectations for what is essentially a kids’ movie now that they are adults.

Pitting the Best Star Wars Characters of the Disney Era - Main Image
Star Wars never truly runs out of compelling stories to tell. Considering the long-running franchise's list of undeterred warriors, check out the best Star Wars characters of the Disney era, how they compare to one another story-wise, and how fans think they would fare against each other.
Rey Skywalker vs Jyn Erso: Force-Sensitive Heroes
In the post-Trilogy, Rey Skywalker had always been pitted against Jyn Erso.
Despite sharing a similar tragic storyline on their childhood abandonment, they eventually rose into the "hero" they molded themselves to be after their unconventional adventures.
According to most Reddit fans, Jyn Erso is technically better than Rey Skywalker in delivering rightful justice. Others would describe Rey as a 'walking deus ex machina" whose character they have yet to understand.
Thankfully, Daisy Ridley will be reprising her role in the new Jedi...

Other Eras Star Wars Should Visit After The Acolyte - Main Image
The Acolyte has shown a glimpse of what’s happening during the High Republic era, a time when Jedi were at their peak and were considered to be most powerful by becoming keepers of peace and doing missions as space cops and temple guards. Now that Star Wars has shown the High Republic on-screen, it is time to explore other eras within the Star Wars official timeline.
Dawn Of The Jedi Era - Eons to 25,025 Bby
This is the era when the Jedi was founded by the Prime Jedi, an individual who first used The Force. Nothing much is known about the dawn of the Jedi, except that the first Jedi Temple was built by Prime Jedi on the planet Ahch-to, the same planet where Luke Skywalker spent his exile and trained Rey. Disney Needs to Hit Pause On Star Wars - Main Image
Star Wars is one of the most recognizable cinematic properties in the world. That’s why Disney paid $4 billion for it in 2012. Since then though, it has become the most memed IP on the internet, being pilloried by long-time fans and roundly ignored by the current generation.
Disney couldn’t have foreseen the rise of YouTube, TikTok, and alternative entertainment 12 years ago, but they also haven’t done themselves any favors with Star Wars. The sequel trilogy, whether you loved it or hated it, was clearly produced with no clear story to tell or even a sensible plan for its creation.
Following the less-than-stellar run of The Acolyte, Star Wars is at its least relevant point in entertainment culture for a long, long time. Which is exactly why it needs to go away for a while to regroup.

Earlier this month, Marvel Comics shared a teaser for its next wave of Star Wars storytelling. After filling in the gaps between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and then Empire and Return of the Jedi, the publisher is now going to explore what happened between the original and sequel trilogies.
We've now learned that this exploration of the post-Return of the Jedi era will begin in Star Wars: Battle of Jakku - Insurgency Rising.
Written by acclaimed, award-winning author Alex Segura (Star Wars: Poe Dameron) and illustrated by a trio of superstar artists - Leonard Kirk, Stefano Raffaele, and Jethro Morales - the series will be the first of three limited series centred around the never-before-told final moments of the Galactic Civil War.
First introduced in The Force Awakens as Rey scavenged amongst its wreckage, the Battle of Jakku was a pivotal turning point for the Galaxy.
