A new episode of The Arrow in the Head Show has just been released, and in this one hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are looking back at what may be the least popular entry in the Alien franchise – and if that’s the case, it’s an accomplishment that it passed some of the lesser entries on the race to the bottom. The movie in question is 2017’s Alien: Covenant (watch it Here) – and to find out what The Arrow and Lance think of it, check out the video embedded above!

I disagree with much of this, and I am quoted in the piece saying as much. The full feedback I offered to the author (only a small chunk of which appears in the piece) is below:
Eta: Minor Covenant spoilers in both the linked article and my feedback.
I think it’s a stretch to say that the *Alien* series is metaphorically about (male-on-female) rape. If anything, it seems to me to be far more about a male fear of women’s reproductive power, by turning babymaking into something literally monstrous. Certainly plenty of women are killed by the xenomorphs throughout the series in exactly the same way as men are killed… which is mostly *not* by facehugger, by being impregnated, but in fighting the drones, which kill in a more typical monster fashion. In particular, though, it’s beyond a stretch to attach a rape metaphor to *Covenant,* because...

Say what you will about his final products, but Ridley Scott has spent quite a bit of time in the Alien world. From the aforementioned Alien to Prometheus, he has dabbled with xenomorphs more than anyone else. This week, he returns to the world once again with Alien: Covenant, a franchise outing that attempts to split the difference. It’s Scott trying to have his cake and eat it too. As you might have seen hinted over the past week or two by yours truly, I didn’t think it worked, but reviews so far have been divisive. Some love this flick, while others aren’t fans. In other words, it’s very much a Scott outing and a summer blockbuster. The film is both a sequel to Prometheus as well as a prequel to Alien. Here, we follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant. Filled with sleeping settlers...

'Alien: Covenant' review: Michael Fassbender plays android brothers David and Walter in this effective sequel to Ridley Scott's muddled 'Prometheus.' 'Alien: Covenant' review: Recapturing 'some of the excitement, awe, and horror' of 1979 original Before we get to Alien: Covenant, a rant about its predecessor, Prometheus. The problem with Ridley Scott's 2012 return to the Alien universe is that the more we learned about the skeletal, seething, phallic, vicious xenomorphs, the looser their hold on our cinematic subconscious. Much of the effectiveness of Scott's 1979 franchise starter lies in its cruel randomness; the tragedy of a horrible death being the result of bumping into the wrong stranger on the wrong street on the wrong night. Jettisoning such primal simplicity, Prometheus suggested a farfetched connection between the aliens and mankind. The result was a muddled attempt at expanding the Alien universe so it could address no less than the origins of humanity.

A new clip from Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant just dropped and it features an insanely creepy scene in which a facehugger attacks a couple crew members from the Covenant. That includes Demian Bichir’s character Lope, who gets a close encounter that scares the shit out of him. I know we've seen facehuggers attack before, but we've never really seen them attack like this. Check out the clip!

With Alien: Covenant – a movie about the evolution of species – Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise evolves (or devolves, depending on opinion) into a different cinematic beast. What was once a deep-space containment nightmare becomes overblown God-complex commentary. Xenomorph origins are no longer a mystery, style flaunts open-world access and tension has given way to gory, grip-your-seat action. As we hurdle closer to the truth, Scott distances himself further from Sigourney Weaver’s masterclass in isolated, fear-of-the-dark survival horror. This might be a bonus for some – adrenaline junkies who hate waiting for payoffs – but Alien: Covenant has more in common with Alien vs. Predator than anything else. Take that for what you will.

There's a new featurette for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant that's been released called "The Next Chapter" and gives us an explanation of how this new Alien film connects to Prometheus by bridging the ten-year gap between the two stories. It includes interviews with Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender and even offers us some new footage for you check out.
Some of that footage includes a younger version of Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) in deep conversation with the android Walter and a few other shots that fans will be interested in checking out. I've also included a new international poster you can see above along with a previously released poster below that I never got around to posting.

A new promo spot has been released for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant and it gives us our first look at Noomi Rapace's character Dr. Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus. Her appearance is in hologram form and the whole thing makes for a pretty haunting vibe, especially with the song playing, "Take Me Home".
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and James Franco.

20th Century Fox followed up their second annual Alien Day announcement with an early treat: a new teaser video for Alien: Covenant featuring John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and references to a key character from Prometheus.
As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the initial new teaser video for Alien: Covenant (see below) includes the mysterious hashtag "#emohemekat" ("take me home" spelled backwards), that, when searched on Instagram, leads to another, longer, video (also see below) that features references to Elizabeth Shaw, Noomi Rapace's character from Prometheus (2012).
Previously revealed footage from Alien: Covenant has shown Michael Fassbender as the android David from Prometheus (Fassbender also plays the synthetic Walter in the follow-up film). You can view both videos below, and stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates.

Only one month to go. 20th Century Fox has released three new TV spots for Ridley Scott's return to the Alien universe (following Prometheus), with Alien: Covenant. We've got a haunting yet beautifully designed poster to share with you today for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. It features the engineered Xenomorph aliens brutally taking over mankind. As you can see, the human figures are being attacked and impregnated by facehuggers as the full grown Xenomorphs are surrounding them. It's really a terrifying and intense image, and I love it! As you can see, it also teases the Alien queen.
This is an incredible piece of movie poster art that's better than most of the other lazy posters that the studios release these days. They actually put some effort into this, and I applaud that.

Walter is a newer version of the android David from Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus.” “I think Walter’s a real different kettle of fish,” Fassbender told Screen Rant. “David was definitely a work-in-progress, somewhat of a prototype I suppose. The elements of him that were the human elements I think people found a little disturbing, so Walter’s more of a straightforward robot. Pretty logical, much more of a servant without the ego.

With its expansive sci-fi world, 20th Century Fox has been keen to extend the universe of the Alien franchise beyond just the feature films. Following a prologue (and new trailer) for Alien: Covenant, they’ve now released a new video, which — like the prologue — is directed by Ridley Scott‘s son Luke Scott. This new spot introduces the slicker, smarter, and all-around updated version of Michael Fassbender‘s character named Walter, “the latest synthetic by Weyland-Yutani.”
After portraying David in the last film, this new version is “created to serve” with “intelligence powered by Amd, Ryzen and Radeon.” Along with a viral site, the new machine is described as the “world’s most advanced synthetic companion, designed to help you achieve a better human experience. Each model is individually calibrated to serve its owner’s unique set of needs and preferences.”

If Alien: Covenant is a success and fans love it, you can bet we're going to want more of what Ridley Scott has planned for the franchise. So far I love what I've seen from the upcoming film, but only time will tell if it will really be better than Prometheus.
If Covenant does turn out to be the success that Scott and the studio are hoping for, they are all ready to go with a sequel. During an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, the filmmaker said that the script for the sequel is ready to go and that they hope to start shooting in 2018.
“You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that you’d better be ready. You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.”
There are four more films in the current plan for the franchise,...

A new red band trailer for Alien: Covenant has been released, offering a small amount of additional footage should help sweeten the wait until the film hits theaters on May 19th.

A new version of the Alien: Covenant trailer that was released a couple days ago has surfaced. This is more of a red-band trailer that includes a few bits of additional gory footage. One of the most notable clips used in it is a creepy shot of an Engineer that has completely been stripped of his skin. I'm not sure how that would fit into the story, but my first thought is that Michael Fassbender’s android David from Prometheus started doing some experimentation on the planet, which leads to seeing all of the different kinds of Xenomorphs that inhabit it. This is all just speculation on my part, but we'll see.

Hot on the heels of the prologue, a new trailer has been released for Ridley Scott's 'Alien: Covenant.' The film stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollet, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, Noomi Rapace and James Franco.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant, which includes Walter, a rebuild of the android David, a survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition, find what they believe to be an uncharted paradise. However, said 'paradise' soon reveals itself to be a dangerous world inhabited by the original David and monstrous creatures that start to hunt them.
'Alien: Covenant' will open in theaters on May 19.

"Where is it?!?" Holy crap! You have to see this! Fox has dropped the second official trailer for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, the latest movie in the Alien franchise. This spooky trailer is all about the big reveal of the new xenomorph (or the neomorph?) from the movie, which looks totally gnarly. Seriously! This looks so damn good, much better than the first trailer. The huge cast includes: Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Uli Latukefu, Benjamin Rigby, and Amy Seimetz. Now this is what I'm talking about! Totally an exciting trailer, the perfect little glimpses of soon-to-be iconic moments. I hope we don't see anything more than this before the movie hits theaters, because what a great tease! Wow. Here's the second official trailer (+ poster) for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, from Fox's YouTube: And here's...

"The path to paradise begins in hell" in the new trailer for Alien: Covenant.
While the previous trailer hinted at creature-centric horrors, the new trailer for Alien: Covenant gives ample screen time to one very angry Alien, an egg that is ready to bring a new Facehugger into the world, and Danny McBride's character reacting as many of us probably would if an Alien were bashing its head against our windshield.
"Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender...

"The Path to Paradise Begins in Hell"
If that first trailer for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant got you excited, wait 'til you get a load of this new one! It's packed full of crazy new footage and we get to see the xenomorph aliens in full-on attack mode! This crew of poor bastards came to inhabit the wrong planet. I don't see how they are going to get off this planet alive, but we'll see how the story plays out!
The trailer also teases the connection to Prometheus. It looks like the alien ship that Noomi Rapace took off from at the end of the first movie crash landed on this same planet that the crew of the Covenant ends up on. This movie looks so good, and I love that Scott is looking to scare the shit out of his audience.
