This is a movie that should be watched after at least finishing the first two seasons of the main series this movie is based on. Plus then you will be following it in chronological order thus would be more invested into the whole experience when watching "Razor". It's not a grand-scale epic space opera like "Star Wars" and it leans more towards the fans of the TV series. It might come off as a bit of a filler and to a certain extent it does. However it is a decent filler that expands upon the story of "Battlestar Galactica" without it being a pivotal plot piece. It's a film that doesn't take away from the main series, but it's not a mandatory watch to get the story or some missing links from the main series. Just think of it as a longer and higher production value of the main series. Just think of it as any other long going anime series movie. Except it doesn't include a lot of the main cast members in it. And that pretty much sums up this movie. It has the "battlestar Galactica" vibe going for it. And it does show certain parts of things that happened behind the scenes. This movie is not a stand alone and viewers that haven't seen at least one season of the main show will be lost and not as invested. Overall, this is a decent TV show movie that is worth the watch if you are into the TV series it's based on.
